I shed a tear during the ceremony. Isn't it ironic how for years we all bitched and moaned about wanting a new stadium? Well, now we have one, and from the looks of it, it probably will be one of the nicest in baseball. But now that we have it, I really don't want it. I want Shea. I don't want to call any other place home. I don't want to see Shea come down. I don't want to see that place get demolished. I want to go back to Shea.
Regardless of anything, Shea Stadium will ALWAYS be our home.
Citi Field is nothing special to me. I was lucky enough to get tickets for opening day and it is nothing special. From what I hear, it has MORE obsrtructed views then Yankee Stadium, and a lot more then Shea. Its a shame that Shea is just a rectangle of ruble now, but they did a terrible job with the construction planning, as there are stairs instead of ramps, imagine us Met fans walking down with Phillie fans after a game, jammed packed into a tiny area, someone will get hurt.
The Piece is called "The Fanfare for the Common Man". It's by Aaron Copeland. It's not necessarily from 1 movie, but from many, used at military funerals, etc...
All purpose song because of it's emoting characteristics.
Watching it on TV was a little scary because the sound of the light going out one last time was loud! Let me ask you something, did you go down to the field after the game?
R.I.P shea. you will be missed.

It's the fanfare for the common man (the song) - definitely an emoting piece to play and apropos for the last ceremony - the game however, nuh uh.
At least those of us who were there got to see Beltran hit the last Met HR @ SHEA before the back to backers by the marls. @#$@$%
