unfortunately it was never filmed all the way through. it would take a fortune to amass all collections. listen to the lp with good headphones and try some
This is fantastic, but I hope that someday a professionally filmed version is made available, surely these concerts had to have been filmed with pro cameras at least once? It's the same thing with Pink Floyd, lots of early 70's footage, but nothing good from DSOTM WYWH or Animals.
@jeffgorey And Jethro Tull, nothing pro-shot from Aqualung, Thick As A Brick, Passion Play, Warchild & Minstrel tours. That's 1971-1975 NO pro-shot film has surfaced. Minstrel in The Gallery tour concert was pro-shot in Paris in 75 but hasn't surfaced either except for a promo spot shot that day. I believe a soundboard audio exists for Minstrel but no SBD from 71-74 either!
But on it, trying to find this stuff but I need help
Hey Tommygun, you get away with posting a lot of rightious shit that I really dig. And without the record companies shutting you down. How so? I once posted a cover of a Pat Metheny tune I played on the recorder, and it got taken off U-Tube for copyright reasons. Are you blowing them, or what? LOL, just kidding.
It would have been great to see what the band would have become,if they would have embraced Peter, instead of shunning him...Phil Collins should have stayed behind his kit, after all.Wanker.
@leirbagpeter IDK why ppl are giving u thumbs down, Phil is a GREAT musician, but cant touch PETER, sorry all of you NEW genesis fans, Peter IS Genesis, always will be...
@onemarilynfan I don't know about that. As much as I like Peter, "Trick Of The Tail" is just as good as anything as they did with Peter. Actually, much better than any of their early stuff.
@PeterMayer I agree that Trick of the Tail is an excellent album, The next one was overall pretty good also, but after that I only like a few songs here and there of the next several albums. I like Peter Gabriel's solo stuff more, but some of it is too weird or boring
Boy that takes me back. Saw that live in Manchester in 1975 when my Dad managed (somehow) to get hold of front row tickets for me and my best mate. I was 15 and will remember it until I die.
Classic Rock Magazine has created this spin off magazzine called Prog (yes, we finally have a publication dedicated to the best genre in modern music) And they want to select the best Prog album of all times. So if you think (like I do) that this album is the best, cast your vote on line and let's give this masterpiece the honour it deserves. Peace. and LONG LIVE TO KING PETER....(Phil? he's just a fuckin' court jester)
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
lol kelly dis is da bomb!!! its like the newest best song of week! every1 at school will think it is so kewl!!! but not as great as good charlotte. they have better singer and happy songs. hehe. i will buy on itunes. the lamfo lies down!!! like lamfo on my one sweater from DEB!!!
The sound is sure from the Shrine audiotroium bootleg. I got it on vinyl, it's the same sound, timbre and "quality". It's dubbed alright. One tends to recognize and learn all details, errors, phrasing of the vocals on that recording. No proper footage where ever made, with sound and visual synced together. Only audio recording exists. And visuals without sound.
Oh man! I saw this at Arie Crown theater in Chicago. I always wondered if my memories of Fly on the Windshield graphics were accurate. Now I know they were. Same with PG's tambourine during Lamb. I remember that too... and so much more! Thanks!
Peter was so ahead of his time. I remember all of the mystery surrounding this album. 30 years later. Never thought I would see actual footage! Thanks for sharing!
According to Gabriel himself it was because of him wanting to explore what he could do on his own, after working on "The Exorcist" sound track he got quite a bit of confidence in his own abilities and felt restricted by being in a band. He said that in the Genesis documentary "The musical box"
I'm aware of that. There is still amazing footage of tours prior to the Lamb. Why is there so much footage for those tours and not this one? Still doesn't make sense.
I understand the fans were shocked by this tour. The ones who weren't shocked simply didn't what to make of it. It was totally unlike what they'd seen before from the band. Plus, they started this tour quite a bit before the music was released. So a lot of Genesis fans were scratching their heads during this.
I wonder if they are ever going to make a musical production (Broadway musical show)based on this album. I hate musicals (even I live in NYC), but I would love to see something like that. It has so many references about this city...
many many thanks... I was 18 at the time of this film... 52 now and will always adore Genesis and Peter Gabriel..... read your note about the most beautiful rock music ever written,, I have it all on records, and it is timeless.... regards...
Who the bloody hell are you and how do you get this stuff. I do not mean this rudely. I am an old genesis fan and have heard of all this stuff throughout my life, but my most visual experiences have been through photographs by Armando Gallo (I am new to all this I think that was his first name). I never even knew it had been recored. I thankyou for what you have done but it will never recreate the images in my head of the beauty of this music as decorate my daughters room for tenth time.
really good stuff... the images are not much, but the tunes take you back, to the experience of seeing them live. Them live was a whole different thing than what you got on their albums.

Peter is a great (or was) a great showman, but people need to give
Phil his props and stop ripping on him, he is a great vocalist as well as a superb drummer.

Peter wanted to leave the band. He felt he could move on to bigger and better things.
I'd say it was worth it. I doubt they could have topped The Lamb.

Wow. Just amazing. I was such a fan of the Lamb and to hear it live, with the band sounding SO strong....
Gabriel's sounds completely in control, just fantastic. So original.
Never forgive them for turning their backs on this stuff. Both he and Phil.

Hey Clear Jack,
The audio was already there and it is in fact from Bern

Has to be dubbed. No way there could be that quality sound on an 8mm reel.

I've always wondered why it's so hard to find footage from The Lamb tour, but you can find footage from every other tour. Why is that??

remember that at the time we had no digital cams nor cel phones...and either we would imagine they were about to exist.
At this time, Genesis came to Brazil for some shows, they were in a tour.
I will never forguet the day I was in the first line, very close to them, yelling and crying ...and stoned......well, weren't we all?
