Not all fixies are track bikes. In my case it is a fixed gear conversion. For me, riding fixed combines the best elements of road cycling with flatland bmx hence the equation.

You can have a bmx bike with fixed gear. A roadbike/bmx hybrid would probably look more like a mountain bike.

The only real difference in roadbikes and fixies are the constant of one FIXED GEAR vs one(singlespeed) or several gears on a freewheel.

Bicycles are my number 1 hobby. I've made every kind of bike into a fixed. But saying bmx+roadbike=fixie is slightly offensive to us in the roadbike crowd because we can do anything fixies can do aside from pedal backwards.

To be specific, most of the bikes in this video are single speed, not fixed gear. A fixed gear's pedals will not stop moving when the bike is in motion.

Nope. Because the crank and chain are directly connected to the back wheel on a fixie, as long as the wheel is turning, so is the pedal.

Yeah, I know how fixed gear bikes work, but if you stop pedaling then the back wheel stops and you make the bike skid. I do it all the time. That's what it looked like they were doing, to me at least.

Take a look at :57 and 1:19 (just some of many examples). In the first case he pedals backwards and in the next the guy is moving forward while the pedals are motionless.

Yeah, :57 is definitely a single speed, but if you notice at 1:19 the rear wheel is motionless. Also the fixed gears in this video don't have brake levers, so they can do those bar spins, and I haven't known coaster brakes to be too common on road bikes like these. So yeah, there are a couple single speeds in there but I think they're mostly fixies.

Watch your 'multiple examples' again.
