I was undergoing some serious training man. Taking advanced military courses, maneuvering ships, shooting missle's and deep diving all just for promotion. Nigeria has become important in West Africa after stabilizing Sierra Lonne and Liberia, so the U.S doesn't have to worry about a base there since Nigeria can protect itself properly from external forces. The US military is worried about Islamic extremism in West Africa. It would be naive to suggest that has nothing to do with Nigerian oil, but I don't think this is part of a grand design to permanently subjugate Africans. Also, don't think Nigeria and South Africa fought AFRICOM's inception on moral grounds. They want their spheres of influence in West and Southern Africa, respectively.

Again, when China gets involved in Africa, they don't bring jobs, they import Chinese labor.

The mighty U.S ship stationed tens of miles of the coast of Liberia watching the chaos unfold. Maj Gen Gaskin(a black man) rescued his fellow country men/women then left his ancestors to perish. The liberians turned to fellow Africans and asked for help. ECOMOG, majority of whom were Nigerians made the decision to save Liberia. Troops lives were lost, but it all paid off. Now Liberia is free and running again. I am very proud to have served as Peace keeper to restore Liberia and Sierra Leone.

USIndependent: ECOMOG was awarded medals upon medals and honored for there bravery and sacrifice from the U.S, Britain and France. They were later converted into the U.N. I hope you can now see a reason or two why most Africans rejected Africom; and why Liberia or Johnson gave the last say about Africom to ECOMOG even though she/Liberia disagreed. We know now we don't need AFRICOM, but AFRICOM needs us for U.S resources.
