  • Very happy she is doing better. My son had SC three years ago and has never gotten better. He has had trouble walking, tics, rheumatic heart disease, rheumatic arthritis, and autism. He was a active skate boarder love life kid and now spends his days sad and in pain and with tremors .

  • i'm a med student preparing for my pediatrics final right now... U little girl are very inspiring and i am relieved to see you do so well after seeing the first videos... amazing! and thank you, to the parents for posting these videos, even though it must have been a tough time! some things you cannot really grasp by reading a text. You are helping med students all over the world! thank you!

  • @snakeboardmcfly Thank you for all your kind words. We posted the vids for parents/patients going through this, when she got sick I could find fairly little info in it. Since then her pedi doc has used the videos to show his interns. I never thought that her story could help medical students, but I am so happy it is. Bless you in your career choice

  • Thank you. My 6 year old went to dr. in Jan for cough- no sore throat- dr thought virus. March she had involuntary arm movements, skin rash plus many other SC symptoms. Strep free by May w/ 2 antibiotics. Still recovering from SC in Aug. No heart/joint damage so far. Diagnosed by Infection Control Specilialist. She is the fifth child in our area to get Rheumatic Fever- three had SC and the other two had pain in one joint. To all - ask 4 strep tests,

  • i saw u on the weelchair and i am amazed! am very happy for u little princess!

  • s it a true story or a make up thing?

  • @DRlordcupid, her story is very true. Her doctor uses the vids to show interns training at his office that come into contact with her. She was blessed to have no long term neurological or psychological effects from the SC. As unbelievable as it may seem we posted her journey to help others that may encounter this sickness. Our hope is that these vids give hope to parents and children dealing with ARF or Sydenham's Chorea.

  • @DRlordcupid Very true, read a little about it. Fairly rare sickness but most kids recover fully, but often speech and motor skills are affected

  • This question may seem like it comes completely out of left field, but.. Is there any family history, and it could be a couple of generations back of Huntington's Disease in either you or your husbands family?

Again may seem like left field, but it is really important to us.

I'm glad your daughter has avoided Rheumatic Heart Disease, unfortunately my daughter was not so lucky. We find out late next month just how much damage is done..

    Keep Smiling..

  • Happy that you are okay now :)

  • I'm glad she is better! Deserved.

  • So glad you posted this. My 12 year old daughter was diagnosed 2 weeks ago and it is truly devistating to a parent to see their child who was incredibly healthy up until that point.

My daughter's condition is still on the upswing, we see her getting a little worse each day despite the medictions. If I can ask, what did the doctor's prescribe for your daughter. We are on Volparic Acid and Keflex, next week we start Penicillin injections instead of Keflex.

  • @JohnFromNorwich I am sorry your daughter has SC, and it will get worse usually before it gets better. But just hang in there. My kid took penicillin and Klonipen. The wanted to put her on Halidol but I said NO. Based on my conversations with a pharmicst friend of mine, he suggested Depakote or Valporic Acid instead of Halidol. Valporic Acid is a commonly used anticonvulsant so hopefully it will help. You can find out more about SC at wemove.org it has a lot of information!! Good Luck!!

  • @JohnFromNorwich

Hang in there, as far as I know neither side of the family has Huntington ever, however, her grandmother had rheumatic fever as a child. I hope the your little one gets better soon, and sorry to hear about the rheumatic heart disease, message me anytime to keep me posted, and remember wemove.org is a great site for movement disorders

  • Your child is really brave, god bless her.

  • asprin85.....I am glad my daughters videos helped you. Sydenham's is really fairly rare in the US. She never had any indications of a Strep infection prior to onset of the Chorea, so it took a bit of blood work to determine the cause. She was about 95% when I posted this one, but thanks to God she now 100 percent and so far has avoided Rheumatic Heart Disease

  • thank god. i am a medical student wanting to know about this condition. your videos have been the most enlightening!

  • God Bless You. I'm so happy for you and your parents

  • wooo.... she have control of your body now..!!! congrats....!! =)

  • Congratulation~~~~!!!!

  • For those that are suffering with Sydenham's just know there is light at the end of the tunnel. She had a horrible case, and was chair bound, twitching, and unable to speak for several weeks. It is hard to "wrap your mind around" getting better from such a thing. It is such a blessing to see her getting well.
