Interesting how us guys in the UK got screwed over at the time of this film's release because of the whole Ninja/Nunchuka thing, yet they originally kept the film title as 'Teenage Mutant NINJA Turtles' and the UK Promotional Trailer shows Mikey using his nunchuks.

I hate the UK.

This isn't the original 1990 UK trailer though, the title is misleading. It's actually from when it had a short theatrical re-release to promote the new cartoon series a few years back. And all the nunchuk scenes (as well as the proper ending confrontation between Splinter and Shredder) were reinstated.

You are right ToxieDogg. The odd thing about the Turtles is that the film was actually called Ninja Turtles when it was released in the UK in 1990. We knew as kids that they were called that in America due to import toys in various discount shops like B&M bargains so it was not too odd for us as kids.

Eastman and Laird's original Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles comics also had a cult following over here in the UK before the cartoon was aired....I knew about the Turtles and a fair few of the other characters long before the craze actually took off.

In the UK the film was released in 1990 as Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. I went to see it in the cinema. However as you rightly state the BBFC cut it because of the nunchuks. Thankfully the DVD is fully uncut. This trailer as ToxieDogg states from the re-release of the film around 2003. The BBFC in 2009 are totally different to what they were in 1990 and its rare films are cut now.

As someone pointed out, the UK version did not have Mikey's chucks (he has almost no part in the movie at all because chucks were deemed particularly evil) and they are called Hero turtles, not ninjas. But this is a better trailer than the original US one, since the voice acting is correct.

in England he means that the nunchucks scene with mikey spinning them was banned from the VHS release, however it was put back in for the DVD. And they USED to be called 'hero turtles' in England but they are called 'Ninja Turtles' although some idiots still use the former such as RedTale9.
