naw different engine. the L89 was the same as the L71, except the L89 had aluminum heads. they were both tri-power 435 horse engines.
the L88 had i believe a single 4 barrel carb and, although a 427, 4 bolt main, solid lifter engine (like the L71 and 89), was a completely different animal altogether.

I believe that the L89 was the same spec as the L88, the differance being the heads. cast iron or aluminum

wrong, the L88 had aluminum cylinder heads with enlarged ports, hotter crankshaft, and bigger carburetor
