  • 3 people's ears simply can not compute this.

  • Chimp+Holdsworth= needs to happen

  • Holy shit, did I just read that. Derek Roddy and Chimp Spanner collab would be fuck all nassssty.. Recruit Devin Townsend and Fredrik T., and just wait for panties to come launching themselves through the speakers from around the world..

  • @dripgoss ;F That would be too good to be true.

  • @dripgoss that would be sick! it would be cool to see paul masvidal in that to

  • @dripgoss

    Please let this happen...

  • this tune makes my nipples hard

  • Comment removed

  • @DiscoRByrno working vocals is an instrument like any other, suck a dick close minded fag

  • @IAMinDreams Did you read his comment at all? He was in no way being close minded. And he has a great point.

  • @toxicapathy lol i don't even see his comments now, but i have reasons for what i say and i don't throw insults randomly otherwise.

  • 6:20 is the moment

  • 3:45 reminds me New mellenium ;) haha I love the meshuggah influence (some bits smell of catch 33 at times) your sound is such an exciting take.

  • How the hell do you remember the pattern at 7:38 lol

  • @1220Bman 45595595953 ;)

Its the same time signatures roughly (if not exactly) from 540 ish till then end!

  • unexpecting but the Cover looks exactly like mirror's edge just sayin.

  • Yo Paul...drummer Derek roddy here.

Reach out when you can......would love to do something in the future!

    Great player brotha.....killer stuff.

    D

  • @MrObsidian I don't think this is "Chimp Spanner" s page. try his personal site chimpspanner . com

  • @AccountOfJason Chimp Spanner fans already forwarded this message a gazillion times on Facebook and the like, haha. :)

  • @MrObsidian I definently agree with this !

  • @MrObsidian i just love how your youtube name is a minecraft reference..... or i hope it is hahah <3 sorry thats a bit random but hay haha :P this is a my fav track from at the dreams edge :P x

  • I love this sooo much. Stumbled on this artist via LastFM.com. Glad I did!

  • Oh lol, now i see the CS in the negative space of the album cover. I was looking at it during the whole song like, "wtf is that?".

  • Hands down, this is my favorite track on the album.

  • I dig the fact that people come on here and say Meshuggah is better than "band x". It's true. Thordendal invented this riffing style and was the first to incorporate the Holdsworth inspiration through his lead-playing style. Haake drumming? Legendary. Jens Kidman? Devastating. Always emulated but never duplicated.

  • Dose anyone else know of other mathcore bands that do great intrumentals like this? I cant seem to find many without singers that sound like their gargling a bucket of glass.

  • @CalvinJGreen Try out Cloudkicker. His is heavier, but still amazing instrumental metal. RXYZYXR is another amazing math metal band you should try out too.

  • @Rabidbadger011 Thanks I'm digging cloudkicker, RXYZYXR is pretty good too. Overall I prefer alot of dynamic rythims and guitar lines, still having a hard time finding more artists that fit that bill. Gru is one that I just found today however and they are fantastic. Check em out if you havent already.

  • this is the greatest song ever

  • Dammit, i wish i could afford at least a seven string. So hard to make this kind of music with a six :(

  • @YoungNickJames a trick i do to kinda emulate the 7 string sound is to drop the low E down to a B and the D to an E. it gives you the lower range....

  • @YoungNickJames He also uses an 8-string.

  • On every progressive metal video, there's always 3 different types of people. 1) People who say Meshuggah is way better than Band X. 2) People who say Meshuggah is boring and sucks. and 3) People that are like "Why can't we just enjoy the music?"

  • @bronzehydra3 I don't see any talk of Meshuggah on a Symphony X video. :)

  • @bronzehydra3 you got that right

  • ON TOUR WITH TESSERACT AND UNEVEN STRUCTURE BLAAARGH

  • @DiscoRByrno I always wondered why the kids in glee got so much credit for just singing when the band playing for them appears to have memorized and is able to play every song ever written

  • 2:05 gives off such a positive, hopefull feeling. as if a bright future definately lays ahead for everyone. this song is a masterpiece.

    paul, don't change a fuckin' thing ;)

  • He's music is absolutely unbelievable. He'll gain more fans if he can get a good singer. Like Periphery.

  • @elpanica he could loose some as well, I rarely listen to periphery because the vocals(clean and screams), and this guy will probably be very picky b/c the wrong vocalist can ruin a band, but if he found a vocalist who will listen to him(no ego) and at the same time sound amazing and know what to do rhythmically, that would be awesome but, thats pretty damn rare

  • dat 6:19 riff

  • He needs to be bigger. I realize the market isn't as big as it is for say, Bieber (sadly), but he should definitely be up there with the big names in instrumental at least. Like AAL or Amogh Symphony.

  • Comment removed

  • why do people have to ruin it for the uploaderr and dislike something that is amazing, just to be ignorantt>.<

  • dat pinch harmonic harmony...

and you know what the fuck im talkin about

  • I've got some questions for you Paul Ortiz! :)

-Are drums from a software (and which one?) or did you play that too?

-For guitar lines, did you use microphones (if yes which one(s)?) in front of your amp, or did you use a guitar pre-amp or such stuff?

-What software did you use for mixing and mastering?

I love many of your songs by the way! :)

Hope I'll get some adivice from you!

P.S: Sorry for my bad english, I'm french.

  • 12242242421 Orgasmic riff!

    best song on album!

  • Literally was on iTunes and heard it on my genius playlist and I shit myself. Exactly like periphery minus the vocals. I'm in love :)

  • Djent is the only genre that has videos with 0 dislikes.

    0 people are lil snots.

  • best song on the album.........best of chimp spanner

  • vvvv

    And tosin abasi! :D

  • @blackplague86940 : Damn it! I forgot Tosin Abasi, Cloudkicker, and Keith Merrow. Shit.

  • Chimpspanner and Misha Mansoor are the guitar gods of a brand new world. Long live djent! \m/ \M/ \m/

  • Dem synths.

  • the sense of dread and sorrow is tangible from 6:00 onwards! unbelievable O_O

  • I feel lucky to be alive at the time of this tech/prog metal surge.

  • Fuck this song is good.

  • 0 DISLIKES!!!

  • @jonithedrummer shhhh youll wake the trolls XD

  • 4.00 -- New millenium cyanide christ. Souds just like it. Gotta love meshuggah

  • @NitroAndDeathMetal I think it's a real drummer because there are videos of these guys jamming with one..

  • @toyotadrummer on the albums paul records the drums with EZ drummer but he plays it on the keyboard its super impressive and there is a video of him doing it on his official youtube channel i would definately check it out

  • Ya this is fuckin sick

  • wow, 0 dislike's... this shit is epic...

  • Can't believe this guy is only in his early 20's. What a talent...

  • good to know that the number of views is now OVER 9000

  • one word describes this: wow

  • Fucking EPIC, that drummer is insane.

  • @toyotadrummer

its a keyboard believe it or not. theres a video of it on spanner's original channel.

  • @toyotadrummer that drummer IS A ROBOT!!!!!!!!!11

  • Just found out this guy about 10 min ago and hes now my fav musician besides bulb and periphery thats how amazing this is

  • u guys think this vid can reach 100 likes before the first dislike? :D definitly deserves it

  • @MainstreamKills Too much pressure, I almost accidentally pressed 'dislike' ;D

  • Very interesting music.

  • fucking immense, 63 likes and 0 dislikes? Just goes to show how much win this is!

  • soooooooo gooooooooooood

  • allan holdsworth, guthrie govan, alex hutchings, chimp spanner, sikth, fellsilent, tesseract, the safety fire, redseasfire, the UK is really owning faces in music right now

  • @TruNikkaz

I'm not from UK, but when has Uk not topped music? Quality wise. :D

  • @borowatz

holdsworth is from the 60s, so they've been owning for a while

  • @borowatz dont forget about periphery man their american

  • @borowatz Probably when they gave us Spice Girls, but they gave us The Beatles and Radiohead, so they can get a pass on that one. The US has given the Brits a fair share of shitty music too.

  • @borowatz

I think the US got it in the big days of jazz in the 1900's

  • @thefuzzzzz That is true. ;) But now, you'll find better jazz outside of USA.

  • @borowatz seriously. the UK really appreciates good music unlike America who only looks for pop icons to make money and be all corporate. the UK however treats music like real art.

  • @TruNikkaz Holdsworth has been around a long time as well as some of the other people you mentioned bro

  • @mehtabb1 indeed

by 'right now' i meant since my recent discoveries. not all of them are recent, but chimp is

  • @TruNikkaz You listen to Red Seas Fire? Sweet dude. Nolly Getgood is one of my all time favorite guitar players.

  • @TruNikkaz

Goddamn right my friend! Allan Holdsworth is unbelievable.

  • @TruNikkaz you are right, but we have Tosin Abasi of Animals As Leaders ;)

  • @TruNikkaz You forgot Sybreed. 2 thumbs up for those guys too

  • @tribaldrummergod sybreed ftw

  • @TruNikkaz sikth ftw, i miss those guys :(

  • @TruNikkaz Damn right. Chimp and Guthrie by themselves could destroy the world.

  • @TruNikkaz I'm happy to see you list the safety fire.

  • @TruNikkaz Don't forget Xerath

  • @TruNikkaz Periphery and Dillinger are not from UK but they are still great.

  • @TruNikkaz

Not really, Meshuggah owns all x 1000.

  • @Buckleyxxx

meshuggah does NOT own holdsworth, govan, or hutchings

    ignorant statement

  • @TruNikkaz

Time stops, when 8 strings collide.

  • @Buckleyxxx

we should hand govan an 8 then

  • @TruNikkaz

nah he still get's a 10 because this is fucking well written music ^^

  • @TruNikkaz I completely agree, but FELLSILENT and SikTh are disbanded.

  • The type of music I would listen being a plane pilot and waiting the autopilot to fly me over the ocean.

  • @recemconzna Hell ya, Bass ownage

  • yes

  • @skdjm

    be quite danny

    hahahaha

  • I just got a erection to this song. Looks like I'm gunna need another song to fix this problem...

  • @jokeroflife2006 half the songs by Bulb or A-Sync will give you a woody

  • @quarentine99 Periphery is sooo kick ass, but who's A-Sync?

  • Simply amazing

  • wow!it was as though i jst elevated from the earth!

  • Every time I listen to this song, I feel like I'm opening up my mind to a broader spectrum of the music world and it just gives me this humble feeling and almost outer worldly experience in my head.

    Is it just me?

  • O.O astronomical.

  • i love instrumental prog metal

  • Go buy the album!

  • wow, i love the variation..................lol

  • Just figured I'd pop it and express my love for Mr. Paul Ortiz, fantastic music man. I'm downloading this as soon as the download section of your website is back up

  • I've loved this song since its original incarnation back in '04 or '05. I'll try to upload it

  • if you don't think the beginning is exciting, listen to the end at least. you'll shit the pants

  • brilliant stuff indeed

  • quarentine99 I seriously don't think Mr Ortiz did drugs while composing these tracks. This is not the works of a burn out dopey or an intoxicated composer by any means.

  • @GoCrazy6000 u definitely misunderstood what i said.

  • @GoCrazy6000 not all drugs require users to be burn outs, take shrooms and play an insrument and tell me you don't see new things. if not, thats your right

  • Set your senses still!

  • chimp spanner never disappoints

  • the tone is so sexy ahhaha. i love this Djenty shit. Its like Animals As Leaders took a sedative

  • AWESOME!

  • instant favorite, this is bad ass

  • The best part of this music is when you realize that this is just 1 guy that created everything you hear.

  • No, the best part is the music :)

  • Excelente. no encuentro de donde bajarm el album del mostro este. muy grozzo. EXCELENT!

  • sorry have to comment twice how come this only has 5 views?? this is probably some of the best prog metal ive ever herd and im no noobie to this music scene, but seriously you are a genious man keep goin, well done !:)
