  • soo...i have kept around 3-10 aquariums at any given time for the past 5-6 years. I am just starting brackish water. I am simply adding a bit of salt to my water or is there way more to this than that? Do i need to have the above set up that you have? I currently have one figure 8 puffer in my freshwater tank. sold to me as a fresh water fish. I have a 25-35g tank.

also any tips on how to convert a fully established fresh water tank to brackish?

  • im about to buy a skimmer for a 100 gallon tank. i have a 45 gallon tank will this be ok?

  • The skimmer for a 100 gal tank will work in a 45. A hang on the side seaClone was all my 30 gal tank needed. It cost under 100 dollars and despite the bad press of small hang on skimmers, works great.

  • i have 10 gallon freshwater setup, and i just got hold of a 30 or 40 gallon tank which im gonna make into a brackish tank ASAP and i wanna add sand substrate, i got my eye on a skimmer a PS-75 Protein Skimmer, and now i have no idea how to setup a sump. i see how it works but i have no clue what i need or how start.

  • my skimmer hangs on the side of the tank. for a sump you need a reservoir that will hold enough reserve water and the water that will reverse flow from your tank if your pump stops. You need a failsafe drain siphon like in my video for return to sump, a pump, water inlet to tank and hose to connect.

  • The overflow to sump in my tank is two pvc pipes plugged at the bottom and hanging one on inside and outside of tank. This is connected by a pvc U tube and to start the siphon I insert a bit of air hose and suck the air out of the U tube. The larger PVC tube on the outside has a hose adapter on bottom plug and returns 2 sump.

  • i got one puffer fish and i want a setup like that but dont know where to begin

  • @DjBriteLite It's been several months since I posted the video on puffers. Still have 3, one got caught in the sump tube and died. I cant stress enought the importance of a skimmer in a small tank. Puffers eat meat and their waste fills a small tank quick. I have them at full salt water now.

  • @DjBriteLite The denitrator is a plus but not necessary. I added live rock and the featherdusters lived at high brackish conditions into the full salt water. Start with a 30 gal tank, skimmer, heater, sump setup with bio balls and debris filter. Invest in a good water test kit. Watch for ammonia and nitrites at first, then the nitrates. I change my water about once a month now and have red and green algae in the tank. I feed them krill and shrimp in the shell. Hope that helps.
