  • he,s refering to drugs. watever gets you throughn the night, its alright :)

  • What a great clip. You gotta give it up for jigowatts, posted it on Lennon's birthday too; what a f*cking legend. If you don't like this well you should go and live on another planet.

  • 9 people have nothing to get them through the night!!

  • 1:18

  • I thought this song was by Elton John..? lol, wow... that's a failure on my part xD

  • whatever video you watch or comment you post its alright!

  • this is so cool

  • Esta cancion es la hostia pa cuando te levantas y no tienes q ir a currar

  • TRUE FREAKIN' GENIUS!!!! Enough said...

  • Probably one of his best songs and i hadn't even heard it until yesterday.

  • yeah motherfuckers this song is for you reggaeton is focking shit!

  • yeah motherfuckers this song is for you reggaeton is fucking shit!

  • McCartneys solo music is far better than Lennons

    apart from Imagine

  • @BlueLeopard200 nonsense

  • @BlueLeopard200 Says you, for me, pauls only good solo album is band on the run, he cant touch john, not close

  • @masonha1 amen!

  • @masonha1 What about Ram, Chaos And Creation In The Backyard, Memory Almost Full, etc...

  • @BlueLeopard200 no. mcartney is form without substane... most of the time. John lennon's songs echo the beauty of the universe (most of them).

  • @googoo120

well they have good lyrics but McCartneys songs are better musically

just compare their solo success up to Lennons death

before Lennons death, he had 4 top 10 songs and just 1 number 1 from 11 releases

McCartney had 16 top 10 hits including 7 number 1's from 26 releases

  • @BlueLeopard200 No, McCartney's songs are better commercially.... society (then and now) are filled with musical retards that wouldn't know a soulful and deep lyrics and music if it kicked them in the balls... McCartney is the king of cheesy pop rock, Lennon music was out of this world and it all had meaning and intent. McCartney is talking shit about a band on the run and a bell ringing in the fucking village square and about Jet! (woo-hoo-hoo-ooh-hoo-hoo-ooh-hoo-hoo). So fuck the numbers!

  • @BlueLeopard200 Hi, mate yeah!!! You have a good point there ,but you must remember Lennon hung his Guitar up on his Living room wall and didn't pick it up for 5yrs he wanted to put a lot of his time into being a father. However, you still can't deny the fact that paul's solo career has been fantastic ,but you have to wonder just how great John's career might of been if that evil piece of shit Chapman didn't kill the man.

  • @googoo120 what it echoes is anyone's business and interpretation

  • Hey people) Look at our cover by John Lennon-Imagine!

    We love John!

  • Fabulous video! Suitably insane and wonderful :D

  • whatever gets you to the light! s'all right. s'all right!

  • Whatever gets me through the night... it's not alright. I got a desire for my nights... and you can imagine it perfectly... Tonite was gettin' complicated and all I wanted is to get here just to dream of what I want to touch soon... Whatever gets me through your nights' alright... it's alright!

  • whenever i hear this song i think of saturday night live :)

  • @cutta1966 Ofcourse John loved this, He made it haha, Can't you tell it's his art?

  • @Malifurios I've seen some reprints of Lennon's "cartoons". Many of these looked familiar. I was not aware these images were his work.

  • this is trippy

  • better than lady gaga

  • @mytotallyawesomename everyone already knew that.

  • @mytotallyawesomename its not a competition

  • @mytotallyawesomename Yesss. lets see how many likes we can get

  • @mytotallyawesomename No shit xD

  • Now this is funky and groovy! I loved it when it first came out in the Fall of 1974 and still love it!

These songs are like the McDonald's commericials I'm Lovin' It!

  • lol i just randomly paused at 0:21 and was suprised :P

  • This animation was created in 1986 by noted animator/director John Canemaker, who later won an Academy Award for his 2005 personal short film "The Moon and the Son: An Imagined Conversation."

Yoko Ono commissioned Canemaker to create a short film titled "John Lennon Sketchbook," based on Lennon's original drawings and their music. It was never released commercially but Ono reused the much of the animation in this video. Google "John Canemaker" for more info.

  • I'm Happy now.

  • "Don't need a watch to waste your time"

  • Where would this video be without the bunnies? Wonder if the bunnies used energizer batteries?

  • sex, rock and get u thruogh the night, groovy music

  • haha is saturday night live starting?

  • whats up with the intro to snl!?

  • Why do all the musicians in America who have an influence and an impact on people get killed?

  • @Spartan0King We're afraid of intelligence

  • This song overall reminds me of New York City. :) Except for the humping rabbits, of course...

  • food

food is what gets you through the night

  • I LOVE THIS SONG

  • This definitely gets me through the night, such good vibes from this song man

  • Dis duh shit

  • The reason it reminds you of SNL is because it's the same sax player, Tom Scott, if I'm not mistaken, who I think also played on Paul's listen to what the man said.

  • John at his irreverent BEST ... LOVE this, MISS HIM ... !

  • Whatever................

  • this song reminds me of ''saturday night live.

  • Love this video. And I couldn't agree more with the sentiment of the song. What ever get's you through the night should be the motto for the world.

  • great song....great collaboration....horn section is phenomenal. it's one of those songs that you don't hear for a long time and then it pops up on one of the XM stations, and then you're like, "Oh, yeah....I totally forgot about that song!" and it sounds so damn good that you turn the volume way up and sing along out loud and you don't give a shit who's watching.....love it.

  • Probably my favourite Lennon song. I just love the way its banged together. No pretense or bullshit. Such an inspirational human being.

  • I think the two gay waiters in the 1932 Clara Bow movie,Call Her Savage, should sing this song.

  • @tacosvelazquez99 You are not worthy enough to post that in a JOHN LENNON video. Get out.

  • LukeAndreFly I believe John would suggest that you are asking the wrong person.

  • Sounds so great with lton John!

  • This song does wonders for me when I'm down but can you imagine what it must be like for the surviving family. (we're where we're meant to be)

  • I don't think the video is weird. I think Lennon would have loved it.

  • @cutta1966 true

  • @PopCultureSucks anyone who has been around long enough to remember Lennon would know this vid be ok with him.

  • @cutta1966 definitely

  • @cutta1966 i thought they were animations of his drawings

  • @cutta1966 i don't think u knew lennon too well then

  • @cutta1966

How can you know that John lennon would have loved it?

    You're not John lennon,

and you would never know his opinion about this video.

So shut the fuck up about that he would love this.

    Yes, You love this video,

but you don't know if Lennon would love this too...

    Just sayin'

    Peace Out ^^

  • @ItsRoozz your an idiot cutta said that they THINK that he would've loved it. God i hate morons like you, why do you even care what they have to say? Why don't you shut the fuck up? Your not Lennon either and have no right telling someone else that they can't have an OPINION. Thats all it was you moron. And furthermore, who are you to say anyway? JACKASS

  • @ItsRoozz He said "I think Lennon would have loved it." He expressed an opinion. Any problem?

  • Weird video. Good Song.

  • @legomanh Yes, Lennon would have loved this.

  • positively rockin:)

  • The best of the best.

  • this is a really great song, john lennon has been an big influence in my life (and the beatles(if u've heard of them))) great song this is on the john lennon colection :):):):):)

  • Does anybody remember this song being played on a local Washington DC kids' program from the mid-70s called "Wonderama" ? The kids would dance their asses off to this great tune! Brings back great, great memories of those wonderful times! Brings tears just thinking about it....

  • This is my favorite Lennon song! :)

I also love "Imagine" and "Give Peace A Chance" too!

  • This song started bouncing around in my head a few weeks ago and it keeps popping up. Great video (for its time) and, yes, I'd have to say whoever created the opening sequence for SNL saw this video and dug it. SNL was courting the ex-Beatles at that time, trying to get them to reunite on the show.

  • Did John draw the cartoon images? their so adorable :P The animals at 2:54 are they supposed to be John and Yoko?

  • andrew renyolds mane

  • john was our jesus

  • reminds me of old snl intro..Which i will youtube now!!

  • When this video started, I was thinking that the instrumental intro sounded like the beginning of a SNL show, then I spotted your comment and had to laugh, but hey, if a majority of two says it's so, it must be true.

  • 1:22

  • Only 192470 views?

    What do people watch?

    Elton John? M.J.? Breatney Spears?

    I can't understand...

    Mozart, Bach, Beatles..............

  • Love the song! Whenever I'm feeling down, I start singing this song and suddenly everything becomes magically nice and welcoming for me. Like whenever I have a quarrel with my friend or I've an exam next day, this song just keeps me going on! R.I.P Johnny!

  • Don't need a gun to blow your mind oh no, oh no ....puedes hacer lo que quieras con tu mente sin necesidad de nada mas

  • Don't need a sword to cut the flowers. Ono, Ono!

  • War is over. If you want. RIP LENNON

  • It boggles my mind that how many conotations that Libs have attributed to this song ! What ever gets you thrughth the nite! Where in the F... is the hiden meaning!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I guess there has to be a hell of a lot of talent in order to write a great song like this and have no meaning in it. I mean it is John Lennon we're talkin about

  • Yeah, whatever gets you thru the nite. Wine, women, song or whatever..............

  • applause!What a wonderful use of John's drawings!

  • Awesome song, Awesome Video, Awesome Guy

  • I love the way It kicks into the cartoon -Thank You

  • What a tune. The piano is incredible.

  • Elton John is awesome on this!!

  • Is it Elton John on the piano?

  • It is, and on backing vocals. John was apprehensive about going back onstage so Elton bet him if his song went to number one, John had to appear with him on stage. It did and so John played with Elton John at one of his concerts.

Happy Christmas, war is over if you want it!!!

    ImaginePeaceReally

  • I love you

  • Live from New York....its Saturday Nite!!!!

  • For george

  • 1:25 roflmao it does make a good wallpaper

  • I'm going to protest this video...it's bogus

those shots of New York are from SNL late 1980s.

  • I'm trying to figure out EXACTLY how legitimate this video is? Obviously The saxaphone inspired SNL which began in 1974, but C. Kings Jazzman w/ Tom Scott also 1973, is equally creditable. Did John Lennon sanction this video, or did some gifted person produce it after the fact and take a whole SHIT LOAD OF LIBERTY?

  • these are all john's drawings right?

  • i was wondering y it was explicit then i saw the rabbits humping.

    still its a good song!!!

  • I have been listening to this song since it came out in 1974.

Brilliant. One of my all time favourites.

  • twat. bet you're wealthy. you cunt.

  • a. I'm not wealthy. b. I am not a cunt. c. Fuck you.

  • Were those Rabbits Humping?

  • humans;u aint kidding,i almost thought thats what it was, even the sax.i like the sparse antohlogy version where he runs outta steam and starts singing "jealous guy"

  • man, i luv the way john lennon thinks and i luv his drawings!

  • begininng reminds me of snl

  • lets give Elton John some credit on this song

  • Elton's a genius. John's a genius. Together they actually managed to distill pure awesome onto a record.

  • what are the rabbits doing??!

  • BAKER HAS A DEATHWISH !
