i am going to get a german shepherd a gray one to be a out door dog do they be a good gard dog beacouse my mean next door nabor is making are pond mess up and kicking are cats do they kill cats please tell me
@jenniferblaymon That's a pretty bad reason to get a German Shepherd.. German Shepherds need to be with their companions which is you. Sounds like your headed for trouble if this is all you want one for. Bad idea.
My german shepperd has been shedding like crazy for about a month now. I'm not sure if it is a symptom of something more or just seasonal shedding. What could it be? Should I take her to the vet?
@blackdodo7 yes it is a german shepherd.,its my GS, his name is Burt. ask the owner of this video if you dont believe me. he is very rare because of his colour. what made you think he wasn't a GS lol? he is a long coat. i know he looks a bit strange because we used to shave him a bit but i let his coat grow now. i have had him since he was 4 months old. he is 3 years old next april.
Hi Debbie, lol i never thought i would see my GS burt youtube! i'm glad you have put him on display. he's just turned 2 years old now and doing great! that was x mas 2008 lol.
Any tips on handling the double coat in the summer time? it gets about 96* where i live and want to know if i should cut outdoor activities to a minimum in the summer days?
@SPCkeith Your dog should be fine however keep loads of fresh water out and available in he summer and if you have an area large enough for a kiddie pool your German Shepherd would probably appreciate a dip from time to time. I have 3 pools in my yard for my girls and they use them every day but especially in the summer
@SPCkeith YES, you should limit a dogs activity anytime it gets over 60-70 degrees. Imagine wearing a large wool jacket and trying to exercise. You will overheat. A dog cannot cool themselves by sweating. They must pant to cool themselves. Panting is insufficient to cool a dog when it's warm. Exercise them only when it is cool, ie below 60 degrees unless they are swimming in a pool, lake....
