Plus, HQ was under attack, the signals most likely would've been rejected, and the umbilical cord was disconnected. In addition, there was no one commanding (Misato), and Asuka was already going to die, the eva series were just tearing 02 apart.

All the Evas had a basis of Adam's cells, except one, which was Eva 01. Eva 01 was created by Lilith's cells. Hope this clears a lot of things.

So, therefore, in a way, Rei created the moon. This is why she's associated with so much moon imagery. She's even walking in front of the moon during the end credits of every episode.
Let me just say thank you. I understood the basics but there was so much i was confused about. Not sure how u figured all this out but props. Why does most anime have to be so confusing. It's one thing to be intricate but when you leave out details in the show that's just disappointing. I understand leaving some of it vague so you figure it out for yourself but I don't recall them ever explaining the black and white moons or Rei and Karrow having Adam and Lilith's souls.

Basically, When Rei merged with adam and lilith, she could transcend time and send out avatars of herself. Therefore she sends out avatars to both the beginning and end of the story to sort of observe. That is the explanation in a nutshell.

it's not exactly an emulation of his mind, or so I believe. The dummy plug creates an illusion of a pilot (hence the name) and allows remote control. However, with no mind connected with the EVA, it's brutal nature shows. That's the impression I got. Not sure what Kaworu has to do with it.

@CodenameBourbon ReVolutionofEva goes into detail about this in How Rei appears to Shinji in the first episode in the related videos section of this video. Basically, When Rei merged with adam and lilith, she could transcend time and send out avatars of herself. Therefore she sends out avatars to both the beginning and end of the story to sort of observe. That is the explanation in a nutshell.

Question! How come Gendo didn't put Adam's embryo with Lilith or Rei right when he got it? I mean didn't he get Adam's embryo in a brief case like five episodes before he actually mixed it with Rei? Couldn't he have went down to terminal dogma right when he got it and then bam! His plan would of been complete right?

Let's make it even simpler:
The Author was confused between making a yaoi and a shonen.
He then gets crazy and starts putting things over things.
People killing angels.
He didn't start the series thinking "10 years later, someone might discover the plot..."
He simply made the series putting thing over thing in a very complex way and simply couldn't finish it properly. He had no clue about what he was doing.

@RandyLahey911 Well, as you can see on the EoE Asuka totally raped them. However, even after mayor injuries they reactivate themselves because each one of the Eva Series has a S2 Engine (The big Red ball that the angels and Eva01 have); that means infinite energy.

it's not exactly an emulation of his mind, or so I believe. The dummy plug creates an illusion of a pilot (hence the name) and allows remote control. However, with no mind connected with the EVA, it's brutal nature shows. That's the impression I got. Not sure what Kaworu has to do with it.

Hmm. I sort of figured SEELE used Kaworu in the same way Gendo used Rei. I never got why Kaworu colluded with Keel and SEELE.
By the way pronouncing SEELE "zay lay" sounds gay lay. For me itll always be SEELE to rhyme with wheel.

@DikingKaia Yeah. I was really confused when I heard about the ancestral race too. Hideaki Anno, the creator, decided to release brand new official plot information for the series in a PSP game. All of the information was unlockable in the game, known as Classified Files. Now you know! ^_^

this should honestly be featured. i felt like i had the logistics of Evangelion down but knowing what seele's plan was opened a whole new world of understanding. yet, why did shinji kill asuka at the end?
