of course they dont speak for you. You can go and fuck ismail haniyeh too if you want, he wont stop you from doing that. But maybe your return trip home may be cut short. Be prepared.
Now realized The full picture The world scene The peoples of the U.S., Britain and France Are very good, but the truth Which do not want Ratification They are slaves of the Jewish people. Even the interests of their people in their policy is not important Only the interests of the Jewish people Indeed Unfortunate If These Peoples
It is worrying when the organisers cannot find a single Sunni Muslim to speak. When the majority of people speaking are not of colour, how is it that the majority of Sunni Muslim Palestinians can feel that they are represented. I have respect for those who protest with us, but it is problematic when they are those who define how we are represented.
I agree that the speakers list at these should represent all sections of the broad movement against Israel's war on Gaza, Palestine. However, I have been informed that the Imam from Lakemba mosque was invited to speak by the Gaza Defence Committee to that rally but there was some misunderstanding or mix up in communication.
The Imam as in Sheikh Taj? Meaning no disrespect to Rihab (the Pally woman who introduced the speakers) but I thought the choice of speakers was a bit tactless. I mean at the last protest the Trade Union rep said 'our goal is a united, secular Palestine'. I think what came across was a fairly secular message, while the feel of the rally was far from it. The reason Hamas was elected in Falastin was precisely because they are Muslim, so the organisers should keep such things in mind.
With all due respect, these protests are representations of the disgust of ALL AUSTRALIAN people... not just Muslims.
Surely it's enough that we show solidarity as a nation. Can't we act as a country in the name of humanity and FOR ONCE keep petty politics and religious sqabbles out of it?
After all, this is exactly the type of attitude that lead to this disaster in the first place.
No its not mate, she may be representing you but she is certainly not representing all Australians just because you say so. she may speak for so called 'muslim Australians' none of which said a fucking word when the bali bombers slaughtered Australian. Speak for yourself sport, you dont speak for Australia either.
How ridiculous to assume that because I'm pro-Palestine I MUST be Muslim!! What alternative reality do you live in? roflmao
I'm 5th generation aussie on my father's side... perhaps making me more "Australian" than you.
If you could, for just one minute, step outside your sad, bigoted and intolerant little world, you'd see this is a matter humanitarian issue... not a race/religious one.
umm who said you were muslim? I didnt. Also your saying those people deserved to die because of the choice's of our government? Ok mate, yeah your real Australian. FOAD kid.
... as for the Bali bombings. If you were even slightly aware of politics, you'd understand that those came as a direct result of Australia's foreign policies and our government's "hardon" for the USA.
I'm an Australian... and proud of it. As such I don't want to become the 51st state of the USA.
We have a great country, with a great tradition of our own... not some pathetic puppet of the "MacNation"...I'd like to keep it that way.
Imagine organising a protest for Indigenous rights in the 60s, the large majority of the protesters were indigenous, then having all the speakers be white, except one Torres Strait Islander. Then, when an indigenous person raises an objection, you tell them 'c'mon, be real, that's the kind of talk that got you invaded in the first place'
The 'Aboriginals' are just as prone to internal disputes as anyone else. However that was not my point. My point was that the large percentage of Palestinians are both Muslim, Arab and Sunni, for the majority of speakers to be none of those things is the problem.
Thus my analogy was completely act. It looked like more white people speaking on behalf of a group they are not connected with.
"...for the majority of speakers to be none of those things is the problem."
My belief that we act together on this as a global voice, united against Israel... not as factions with personal axes to grind.
If this is the case, then as an Australian I may as well withdraw my voice from the protest, for my concern is for Palestinians collectively as a nation... not as individual religions.
Be it Muslim, Arab, Sunni or Christian... they all suffer equally in this horrid situation.
You seriously don't see it as problematic? Its so patronising! I was not saying that your voice meant nothing, merely that the voice of a Palestinian is more able to describe their oppression than you are. How can there be a 'global voice' when the only ones speaking are random white people?
Random white people who don't understand the deeply rooted tribal and religious factions at play in this part of the world. Gaza has the Muslim Brotherhood Hamas, an Islamic theocracy in charge and are opposed to Fatah in the West Bank with almost the same venom that it opposes Israel, although it doesn't publicly seek the cessation of Fateh. It's not so simple to deal with 'Palestinians collectively as a nation' as they currently aren't one.
of course they dont speak for you. You can go and fuck ismail haniyeh too if you want, he wont stop you from doing that. But maybe your return trip home may be cut short. Be prepared.

"umm who said you were muslim?"
Your implication was clear when you stated that the speaker was only speaking for Muslims ("she may speak for so called 'muslim Australians").
She speaks for me and many Australians who aren't Muslims... that's just something you're going to have to deal with.

Tis a crazy image no?

Your analogy doesn't hold water because there are no "disputes" religious or otherwise between the Aboriginals.
Let us be clear. I'm pro-Palestinian... regardless of religion.
I also firmly believe that petty disputes about religious matters shouldn't cloud an already murky issue.
Surely, your prime concerns should be for the Palestinians... not your own fragile egos.
I wonder how genuine your concerns are, or if you are using this simply as a platform for your own private (religious)agenda.
