  • that's pretty awesome!

  • The cooling rack isn't to get sun on the bottom of the pan; it's to keep the sunshade from melting.

  • @luvintherawlife Both ways work. Find what works best for the dish you are preparing. Glad to hear you eat raw. That is the best.

  • great video

  • @gedking8871 Thank you.

  • how long can it take to cook!?

  • @deadlyyellowrose That depends on what you are cooking, how much, the container, how much sunshine, etc.

  • Brilliant! Thanks for sharing.

  • Hi, I am planning to make a solar oven and gluing aluminum foil to the sides of a box....do you know if the glue gets too hot from the cooking if it will cause toxic gas to contaminate the food? is there a certain type of glue i should use?

  • @HandsomeSasquatch I don't know.

  • With the funnel cooker, do you need a roasting bag if your pot has a lid?

  • @ravenselene I think both ways work. With the bag it cooks faster and locks in the moisture.

  • I never thought of using a windshield cover. I'll have to try this, thanks for posting?

  • @ravenselene You are welcome. Thanks for watching.

  • I was just thinking aluminum foil would work but this is much easier and cheaper than replacing foil. Maybe the hole in the bottom is for air flow for even cooking? Can't wait to try this!

  • @MrsNewAmericaNow Let us know how it goes. It should be fun and interesting.

  • This is my favorite type of solar cooker.

The horizontal mode (like your video) is for when the sun is lower in the sky. The vertical position (which needs a bucket to support it) is for when the sun is more directly overhead.

I put mine in the back of my truck, on picnic tables, next to my blanket at the beach or anywhere I will be for 2-3 hours.

  • @EBKauai Thank you so much for your comment. Please everyone take a look at EBKauai's channel for more info on these solar ovens/cookers.

  • @CravattEnterprises Awesome! Let us know how it goes and what you learn.

  • Cool....I mean hot idea thanks for sharring this. Favorited so maybe others can see.

  • @navvet81 Cool..LOL. I'm glad you liked it and favorited it.

  • Sweet!

  • I'm going to make one of these just because it's so simple to make and try out.

I'll have to wait till summer though not a lot of sun in Australia at the moment :(

  • Make it more like a funnel..not laid over like that. Set pan over the hole. They work great. Might mention that any food grade bag will work. Fruit bags in WM... Have to turn to keep full sun on it.

  • @TheRamblingRose Thank you. Great advice.

  • p. s. the idea of the bucket is so when you push it in makes the front end come up to shine on the pot

  • @RJBURG That is what I thought too. It is called a funnel oven because it is supposed to look like a funnel. I wonder if the bucket should be weighted down. It seems a little top heavy.

  • put some black tiles on the rack for more heat or a piece sheet steel 1/8 thick or so also the the front screen should up a little to shine on the pot plus blow air in the bag like a balloon then seal. i made lots solar ovens not a funnel one yet but soon see mine at [ rjburg ]

  • @RJBURG Great comments. Thanks!

  • This should be on EVERYONE'S channel. This is one of the most important videos on YouTube. I'm going to favorite it and mention it on my channel. Kudos to your sister. Well done!

  • @katzcradul Thank you. This has been a very popular video. Please share the knowledge. Prepping doesn't have to be expensive.

  • I've heard of a nuclear family, but you guys must be the Solar family! All looks so good. 350 degrees! That is amazing.

  • Genius!

  • AWSOME I am all about cheap!! free is better !!!! Good Job! thanks

  • Way cool...

  • I've tried this in the past a couple of times with the flexible and ridged versions and didn't have much success. It may be because of being in the great lakes area and solar isn't the greatest. Might try this again on Field day this weekend.

  • Two thumbs UP! Was wondering if this solar oven cooking was for real.

  • Amazing

  • Yes I will have to give that a try. And I want your sisters kitchen. :-) Paula
