@mariohendriks1 It's simple. Say country A and B are very different in terms of economy.

Country A's income is from products (vast production) - real life example: Germany.

Country B's income is from services (merchant fleet etc)- real life example: Greece

If both countries get the same currency, country B will import from country A , so that it can use it on trading(service).

Money leaves country B and goes to country A. Country B gets a crisis and it gets money in the form of loans from A.

@mariohendriks1 Long story short, the different types of economies the South and North have caused the South to give all its money to the North and never get it back. The North has to loan the money it took back to the South,causing even further crisis to the South (they have to pay interest).

Lobbies in the US noticed that, and in an attempt to weaken the Euro vs the Dollar they hit EU where it would hurt the most: Greece.

Greece has been hit from a double crisis, and Italy/Spain is next.
