Those postmodernists have lost it. They make claims like "the external world is a socially constructed phenomenon." But we know exponentially more about the external world now than ever. Just look up what biology, physics, engineering, etc. can do.

I agree with that assesment. I also think that there are four domains of manifest consciousness: subjective experience (self), objective (behaviour and science), intersubjective sharing of values(culture, which is the solely accepted domain of postmodernsits), interobjective sharing of sciences and paradigms. I think you might know this, and also notice that these 4 quaddrants are conceptually dived with lines like individual, collective, external and internal - this is integral philosophy.
