Have we succeeded? We think so. Before long we shall have covered with our narratives an enormous period of time; between the "Comtesse de Salisbury' and the "Comte de Monte Christo" five centuries and a half are compresed. Well, we assert that we have taught France as much history about those five centuries and a half as any historian. This passage is from The Companions of Jehu which was written by Alexandre Dumas pere.
It's a shame that very few people list Uriah Heep among those that were influential in creating heavy metal. If you don't hear the influence that these guys had on Maiden you need to get your ears checked.
@kshepherdgmail Who gives a shit if they influenced Maiden? You should like this band because they're a good band, not because they influenced another band you like. That's why it annoys me when metalheads listen to classical "because it inspired metal bands" rather than because they actually enjoy it as a standalone genre. People need to be more eclectic instead of just directing everything towards a metal centre.
@Georgie2047 This passage is from The incredible marquis by Herbert Gorman entitled the soldier of fortune(chapter six) It was natural that Dumas believed implicitly in the magic of somnambulism, in animal magnetism and in chiromancy. No Haitian negro dancing before his Voodoo altar was more superstitious than Dumas. Home, to Dumas, therefore, was an authentically inspired adept in communicating with unseen world.
@TheJanisjoplin58 This passage is from The Companions of Jehu--page 396--"You are ninnies! I have cheated all the time we've been playing, and you never found out. Those who lost can take their money back." Born and bred in the Catholic faith, Bonaparte had no preference for any dogma. When he re-established divine worship it was done as a political act, not as a religous one.
@TheJanisjoplin58 "The general public, are ignorant and meddlesome outsiders who must be put in their place. They are to be spectators of action not participants who must be regimented to abandon any ideas about controlling their own lives. Who's left in this band from the original line up, Mick Box? I got to see them open for T. Rex in the U..S. back in Feb. 1972 at the Chicago Auditorium. They almost blew T. Rex away. Not quite the same as back then.
@geniepixels Neither :) . This was one of my favorite bands back in the day, and they are even better now (Byron was not that good a singer). But the music is unfortunately a bit dated sounding.
I remember the day I found the look at yourself vinyl LP in my fathers collection. I had never heard Uriah heep before that, but it took me 1 hour from listening to this album to go to my local record shop and blow my savings on a copy of this and Salisbury. Uriah Heep, Deep Purple, Manfred Manns Earthband and Jethro Tull represents a monumental revolution in my musical youth and bands like these will always have a place in my heart! Love it!

LMAO! Yep. Scary sometimes, isn't it? haha I've noticed that I'm saying, "I'll be 52 in October," rather than saying "I'm 51." I've also been using the word "decade/s" a lot more in the past few years - rather than using "X amount of years..."
@Eyewash03 -- "@TwiceFiasco There was no point for your comment."
Our disrespectful little 17-year-old boi needs a music appreciation class. A good start might be the entire Motown catalog. That will show him that - once upon a time - there was such a thing as REAL and EXCELLENT music, produced by the "black" community. For your info, Sweetie - the music on this page is rooted in "black" R+B, Jazz, etc. They came up the Mississippi on the Steamboats. American rock and roll was started there.
Here's a good example of one of the answers to the question, "what's happened to America?" NO RESPECT for your elders. NO sense of pride in composition. But, wait - I'll be nice and try not to use anything over a TWO-syllable word, because as you can clearly see, Miss Thing can't even spell one of THOSE correctly. This is MUSIC, fucker. OK? It isn't the ass dragging on the sidewalk pants and the ghetto lingo filth which you propagate to death.
They sound better than ever.... what's the title of this dvd? Shame Ken and co aren't with them but great to see Trevor Bolder and Mick Box still playing brilliantly

@Bamafandave3450 Alexandre Dumas pere wrote over 400 historical novels exposing world tyranny(Roman Catholic Empire). He was born near Paris in 1802 and 'coincidentally' in 1902 the Society of Jesus(Jesuits) were expelled from France for the 3rd and last time. The Society of Jesus(Jesuits) have been expelled from 83 countries, city states and cities and their pope is ARAMIS AND HE IS ALSO KNOWN AS THE COUNT OF MONTE CHRISTO(GENERAL OF THE JESUITS).
that old drummer played drums for ozzy on his first release of his first solo album blizzard of oz..after he lost a court battle with sharon osburn over royalties she had it re-released with another drummer.he then went back to heep for the second time, andstayed till 08 when his health finally forced him to retire.LEE KERSLAKE.one of thegreats.check out his back up vocals on sunrise.
amazingly energetic, particularly Kerslake, the drummer! I know how David Byron sounds, but I like this guy too, sounds nearly the same! Looks like an aging David Lee Roth
This is one of most useful songs ever - when someone's been hit hard by life, I always suggest them this song - "You've got a friend, .. , don't be afraid." :)
Whitesnake isnt a ripoff of this band.. It's the most of Deep Purples band member, and they're playing like Deep Purple. No offence, but if it's some one ripped off this band, it's not Whitesnake.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
You must be smokin' dick... You'd give these faggots props for being Led Zepplin's brother band yet you lame ass pot heads tormented bands like Whitesnake & Kingdom Come for being rip-offs? I hope you get fucked upside the head with a bat.
Being a "Heep" Fan since about '72, all I can say is this is fucking brilliant. Thank you Mick Box for all you have done to keep the Heep alive! But honestly, David Byron was the best Heep singer ever.....but thats ok. "Heep"...God Bless!
Ya know,we picked up on Heep in 1970 when no one was buying their record. We all thought at the time that they were it. The new incarnation, if you want to call it that is absolutely smokin! Listen to the original live tracks. There is absolutely NO COMPARISON. The harmonies, rhythm and energy are true to the original intent of the work...and then some. If they sound this good on the video I can not even fathom how much presence must have been commin' off the stage with that volume! Fantastic.
Esta cancion es solo de David Byron, pero la hace muy bien.

@Nondisputandum Often it's the old farts who rock the hardest. We young punks could learn a thing or two from our elders!

hey don714,
that old drummer played drums for ozzy on his first release of his first solo album blizzard of oz..after he lost a court battle with sharon osburn over royalties she had it re-released with another drummer.he then went back to heep for the second time, andstayed till 08 when his health finally forced him to retire.LEE KERSLAKE.one of thegreats.check out his back up vocals on sunrise.

Jabba the Hut on drums?

amazingly energetic, particularly Kerslake, the drummer! I know how David Byron sounds, but I like this guy too, sounds nearly the same! Looks like an aging David Lee Roth

These guys were the very first band I saw in concert... way back in the 70's.
I forgot about them until now. I just went to amazon and ordered "Demons and Wizards".
Thanks for sharing this!

how does Kerslake fit behind those drums?
MickeyLove01 2 years ago
moreover, how does he play the drums without having a stroke? but I respect the guy!

No offence, but if it's some one ripped off this band, it's not Whitesnake.
icantchooseusername 3 years ago
I totally agree with you. Here I Go Again, Is This Love, Love Ain't No Stranger, they are completely different to Uirah Heep.
HardRockHero11 2 years ago
true.Heep has it's own style and harmony, same does DP and whitesnake.there's no rip-off

First album I ever bought was Magicians Birthday and then snapped up the back catalogue.
Damn I was like 12 at the time and earning $2.00 a week doin deliveries for a chemist on my bike.
A Uriah Heep album cost me 3 weeks pay hahahaha!

Fantastic.
