  • That was worth saying twice x

  • This deserves a trillion hits!!! It transcends popular ego music!!

  • This deserves a thrillion hits!!! It transcends popular ego music!!

  • Its a shame that this awful song has more views than any video of the real Buk.

  • That is a huge bass drum. Good tune, too.

  • How does this only have 30,454 views?

  • @thename At least 75 of those views are mine...HEY, DOES ANYBODY KNOW HOW LONG AGO THIS WAS FILMED?

  • I'm speechless ... this is magnificent ... superb ;)

  • what is the realitonship between this song and the author except author's name in the song name ? Can you pls explain?

  • @josekiamora the relationship is San Pedro, CA

  • does it sound a little like Sheryl Crow's A change would do you good?

  • Rock'n'Roll of prey! Like a predacious animal, tensing the muscles at the smell of huntable deer, proudly striding in up-tempo, all cougar or so.

    Or Driiiiiiiiiiive!! In a HotRod.

    Boah 5/5!

  • awesome

  • nice violin solo... but that doesn't make it a blues song.

  • @BkkJohn Tell us what DOES make a blues song a blues song. Feel? Scales ? Vibe? Tempo? Chord structure? Lyrics? Writer? Instruments? Region of origin? Time period?

I'd venture to say that this would probably fall into the blues category no matter what criteria you use.....

  • toadies!

  • Bukowski may have smiled at this song because its about him, tho' in the long run he would have hated it. He didnt like rock n' roll at all.

  • @SgtBastard101 I don't think these guys were trying to come up with a tune that Buk would have enjoyed listening to but rather one that reflected the gritty, urban tone of his writing. On the other hand, Buk liked classical music, which often employs lots of violins.

  • LOL @ officer narc

  • fucking ace track here. mike watt is probably the coolest fucking bassist in the world.

  • Is this song on Charles Bukowski the great writer and poet?

  • you know another bukowski?

  • No, I was priety sure it was but wasnt positive.

  • That was great! Just saw Mike and the Missingmen 5/8/2009 @ mercury lounge in NYC...f'n great show and a really nice guy too. He actually shook my hand after the show...

  • that made my day

  • That's it. Gonna buy a bass guitar and lumberjack outfit so I can pretend to be Mike Watt.

  • i think it's more of a longshoreman's get-up.

  • отличное трио.

    Буковски кстати очень уважаю)

  • what?

  • is that a 4 foot kick drum?

  • Frikkin WOW

  • i love the tone on that violin. must've miced it through an amp, Zappa style, only minus the wah. The mighty watt with his mighty bass tone too... great song. i wanna buy this record.

  • Totally hear the Zappa sound. Hot Rats.

  • Awesome. Anyone know what album this is on?

  • sort of takes you somewhere listening to that.

  • das groooovt...^^ incredible.... :))))

  • Watt reminds me of Bukowski know he's getting older.

  • Why did he kick his old lady's knee or something?

  • I'm sorry, you've lost me with that comment???

I think Watt looks like Bukowski.

  • hahahahaha... you and i thought the same sort of thing.

  • Mike Watt !!!

  • Wonderful. Watt is a hero. Bukowski too. Two guys from Pedro.

  • You mean they have electric violins now? Gadzooks!

  • big mike watt fan i never knew this excisted good stuff

  • i gave tis people this song they wanted to pay for it and i said pay it forward..

  • BEAUTIFUL absolutely beautiful!

  • Wicked violin playing and very cool imagery. What a fun gritty song!!

  • Watt is all knowing... all seeing... no one better to play a tribute to Buk... well, maybe if Tom Waits was screaming in the background...

  • love to watch this before work. old nails in concrete, workin hard for a livin' that's my life also...

  • That its straightforwardly good

    A brilliant trio

    Its takes you along

    My heart palpitates

  • Beautiful comment Isa! -Charley Plymell says hello to you and we are both happy you have such good taste cause we love some Mike Watt, too!

  • @gingereades - I agree with your comment too - Isa stands with the majority of the Plymell/Watt lovers of great momentum...

...besides the musical talent of Watt, he is in the same kind of multi-faceted talent and compassionate people still holding his humility into check.

All the truest forms of well-rounded and talented gifted people are on a higher level and rise above the mundane "hero" status some place upon them.

humility goes such a very long way in this world of hero-worship.

  • Jesus,I love the violin in this! A real good performance.

  • really great sound

  • You are amazing... I loved it so much, Thank you, Good Luck, nia

  • Serendipity of youtube finding this while looking for poetry. Great rhythm guys, a splendid performance and terrific title to go with.

  • Fuckin great!

    - -

    Okay,

    Father Luke

  • so nice...

  • that was frickin tits;nice and round;just rite

  • I know its going to be a nother shyty day at work, listen to this song in the morn and i say fuc them all. Its the blues baby.

  • VERY cool piece of music!!! Is this available on cd???

  • yup...you can get it on chris murphy's website or on amazon. the album is Chris Murphy - "Luminous".

  • That is Stephen Hodges on drums. He was with Tom Waits and played on Swordfish Trombones, Rain Dogs, Mule Variations, and others. He was also with James Harmon in his blues heyday. He is currently on the last few John Hammond records. He plays around SoCal with the heavy local blues guys. He is a bad ass. That is a 32" bass drum if I recall correctly.

  • Watt is so freakin' amazing! I am always in awe at how much wonderful sound that he is able to turn out live and recorded!

  • Your blues is like a freight train blowing through my brain. I can hear the words that could go with this tune. Good blues.

  • fuzz them blues for hank!

  • Pretty f-in' cool!

  • watt is the man.

  • watt on bass, yeah!

  • Watt is a beast: Fuzz+Bass=Love!

  • That was cool. Violin blues sounds great. Is there any one cooler that Mike Watt? Man,that kick drum's a monster!

  • bloody brilliant!

  • Mmmm, fuzzy!

  • as an electric violinist in a 'power trio' style rock band this is VERY inspirational. not to mention the amazingness of the legendary mike watt!

  • it just gets better and better!

    thanks watt!

  • No guitarist required! That's the best part about these guys, besides the tune is solid! I dig it. You could even throw in a 2nd bass and some hand drums. Guitars are so over-rated. You don't NEED a guitar, just a solid rythm section!

  • that's a BIG ole bass drum...nice one guys, cool fuzz bass, Watt!

  • Solid trio if ever there was one! FUZZ out WATT! MORE MORE MORE said the baby!...Shirley

  • YES! I can almost smell the smoke comin' off the amplifiers. Is that a 4 foot kick drum? Thanks guys!

  • kickin' ass!

  • Very very good.

  • awesome man

  • great tune watt, loved this one from the first time i heard it..........chris
