Now I'm really confused. I did not know the King of Portugal was in the mix. The French King WAS described as rather old, and homely.

Clearly the writers of "The Tudors" just made up alot of things as they went along-I've had a chance to see some of the episodes now-it's entertainment-nothing more. It's just based on the real Tudors-not historically accurate on many levels. Portugal had some great monarchs by the way-Queen Catherine of Braganza was Portugal's gift to England's King Charles II. She is still remembered by many royalty fans like me with much affection. :)

I don´t remember the English Author. He´s famous. This serial have many sources but he was the first source I think.(if my memory is correct) of couse the majority is accurate(sorry for my english) but some parts were based on hoaxes and not accurate memoires in the enginious literary writer of XVII century(circa 100 yaers after.), but this Man(final of XVI cent. or XVII was chosen by the stile and form of his history about Henry.

It's MARY Tudor who marries Charles, not Margaret- Margaret Tudor was married to James IV, and briefly Queen of Scotlan. Mary Tudor was Queen of France for 84 days, and married Charles Brandon afterwards- you just got the names mixed up on the tags :)

Oh I know the historical story. The show doesn't. The show combined Margaret and Mary into one character and called her Margaret because there were already 2 Mary's on the show (Tudor and Boleyn)to lessen confusion...basically because they assume viewers are dumb apparently. The showtime show MARGARET marries the King of Portugal (bcuz the King of France was shown as a 25 year old rival of Henry's) for 3 days, bcuz she kills him. So I didn't confuse it the dumb show did.
