  • you do not compress water. if you were compressing the water (more than marginally and less than physically significant) the resistance would be similar to air or an easily compressible medium. the water doesn't compress. you feel resistance when moving the paddle straight, and thereby limiting slip and thusly wasted motion (a paddler's nemesis). the resistance you feel is pressure. more pressure in front of the paddle equals less waste for every stroke of the paddler. just say pressure bud
