great explanation and not so difficult seeing this ...do you plan on doing any other precussive guitar videos with maybe a bass tone hit or anyother one
Is it possible to strum percussive w/o using a pick? I always used a thumb hitting low E, but I saw guitar players sometimes don't change position of their hands - like here (but they haven't picks, too).
@grandtheftgordon the part he uses as an example sounds a good deal like "Have You Ever Seen The Rain," and fortunately he does a lesson--if I remember correctly--on that song on his song site. best of luck, man.
@codemastersnake No it wont. Course , if you hit it really really hard, you may brake something, but it will be more painful to your hand, than your guitar..
@JustinSandercoe hey Justin, saw you in the Netherlands most recently =D In Roosendaal at the local guitarstore, but was affraid to talk to you. Cheers
Very nice. I didn't think about how I have actually been using my fretting hand to mute and crunch. I do think it should be said, however that using your fretting hand to achieve this effect can give the opportunity for harmonic frequency changes when hovering above certain frets (3rd) and slowly moving your resting finger along that particular harmonic zone while muting the whole time. :D
Wow, this video was perfect and helped me so much! I was struggling to understand how to do this until I saw this video!!!

Use the same strumming pattern/rhythm and chords CG-CG-CC and you have "Have You Ever Seen The Rain?" CCR!! Classic :)
And for the chorus you can use FG - CEmAm - FG - CEmAm - FGC but with different strumming.

I have trouble doing this On a electric guitar,
Any hand position advice On the strumming side; its Like my arm long or hand/fingers are too long, i cant hit strings properly
I guess because of the el guitar body
Dunno advice please :)
