  • This is such a great idea.I have some old hymnals that are seriously falling apart anyway. I hate the thought of throwing them away. This is the PERFECT use for them:)

  • This is a good idea, I should rip up the Harry Potter books no one's using anymore =)

  • you are hot jenna

  • Very good idea

  • So the finished product looked ok but destroying a book to create something that disposable seems like a waste to me. Not something I would be doing.

  • Do you think a Guttenberg Bible from the end of the 15th century would make a good starter material for this project. I got one, but someone called Martin Luther scribbled all over it...

  • @BorisCr lol

  • @BorisCr LMAO! Good one!

  • sack Butt :P

  • Sehr schöne Idee, werde ich ausprobieren. Danke!!

  • you destroyed a book for that shit.. D: ! oh GOD...

  • People are getting upset about destroying an old book?? I don't see anyone say anything when they set down in molded, damp basements.

  • amazing...

  • a bunch of book obsessors are cringing wen u rip it

  • book murder :(

  • cool

  • What a great idea! Inexpensive and still classy looking - thats my style! Nothing better than good old creativity.

I think you are interesting in your videos so don't listen to others comments about "chatter" - if they don't like your personality they can find ideas from someone else. *Blah* to them! :)

  • @angielacount921 That was uncalled for I thought she did a beautiful job. Learning arts and crafts is not a science class. You call it chatter some of us call it conversation. I'd rather have chatter than rude any day.

  • To much chatter on your part. All I needed was instruction on how to make wreath. I think you give good instruction on how to make the wreath when you finally get around to it. I would love to watch more instruction videos from you but would like a lot less talking on your part about stuff that really isn't needed to accomplish your goal of how to make the wreath.

  • me ha encantado es precioso lo voy ha hacer

  • cool!

  • and then placed a battery LED light generating item in the center and made a hood in the center to cover the source and allow the light to come from the petals of the sunflower through the holes, once this was done, i sprayed shimmer and gold on the completed flosers, I made some 8 of such huge flowers with different LED light colors and the effect was fantastic, the party was a kickass super hit. THANKS FOR THE INITIAL IDEA

  • I"m guessing you can probabley use plain typing paper or even colored construction paper for this great project!...

  • @CatsandMe that's exactly what I thought I'm going to go with some pink an purple type construction paper for an Easter wreath. Maybe jelly beans for the center?

  • I loved your wreath toot your so clever!- I also cringed when you mentioned tearing a book apart - I love books, but I can see if it really is of no use then repurose it. Best of luck!

  • Hi! I made one of these for my parent's anniversary and it turned out great! Thanks again!

  • I love the idea! I would paint it if you don't like the pages, I'm sure spray paint would be fine on the paper wreath before putting in the center piece.

  • wow its amazing its so nice

  • woow gorgeous!!!!

  • By the way, you could always reuse the cover of the book to make yourself some art or junk journals!!

  • HAHA! Thanks for a fun video. LOVE the idea and plan on using it as a decorative piece for my parents' 50th anniversary. I used to cringe at the thought of ripping up old books, but if they're already falling apart, why not turn it into a lovely piece of art rather than having it sitting around collecting dust? Recycle and reuse!

  • I once paid a buck for a book and sold it to a collector for $800. Do your homework before ripping up old books even if they only cost a buck. You might have a hidden gem.

  • @AntiquerMe see that's what I was talking about, you never know what you have.

  • @JennaDeAngeles1 Thank you for sharing. This pretty, but pretty your puppy. =D

  • I ABSOLUTELY LOVE this idea and your video is adorable!! You are so cute, just hangin out, readin the paper, eatin M&Ms..you just kill me! This is just gorgeous and YES I will be trying this! I have no problem 'RECYCLING' Dont care WHO's book or how old ..like you said..the 'book' was still admired by more people...ESPECIALLY if someone doesnt really read like myself...[i DO read, just not often!] Thank you so much!!! xox Merry Christmas!!,,Pam

  • your respect for book baffles me..great peice of art but an old magazine is so much better once its read instead of shredding it make this wreath spray it with paint...have respect for books..the kindle reader hasnt killed the books

  • I love this! I might try recycling my old magazine pages for a colorful wreath I can put up year round.

  • I have a question: how do you store it without smashing the paper?

  • @genmama1955 ... I store mine under the stairs. I have friends who hang theirs in their homes - they take off the center if it looks too "holiday" and use tiny pine cones or walnut shells or other winter goodies to fill the center. Then it becomes an year-round decorative piece. Any other ideas?? What would you fill the center with to make it an all-year look?

  • @JennaDeAngeles1 Hahaha if I stored mine under the stairs, it would have bikes parked all over it! I live in apartment building. I think I might try to fill the center with fresh flowers, maybe a photo of my son. Hey, you've gotten my creative juices flowing! Thanks! Merry Christmas to you and your family.

  • @JennaDeAngeles1 Make seasonal centers out of natural bits. Make them removable by putting velcro stickers on the back of the interchangeable centers and on the center of the wreath. Presto, a seasonal wreath .

  • @JennaDeAngeles1 seashells, glass rocks, actual rocks! Thanks for the great idea. Oh you could even use a gold or silver sharpie along the edges for a little bling!

  • @JennaDeAngeles1 sea shells in the summer.

  • When you said you were going to use a Groves Dictionary, I almost stopped breathing!!! (I have a degree in music) That book was an invaluable source for me while writing theses, etc. But guess what! There are newer editions! So I am giving myself permission to use an old book to make one of these gorgeous wreaths! It is so beautiful!

  • @genmama1955 .. I am so glad you said that! I started to read your comment and my pulse stopped fearing I had made an enemy! The spine was broken on the book I found at a $1 book sale and it was falling apart .. but has been reincarnated into a wreath that has been appreciated by so many :) Thank you, Mr Grove's !!

  • @JennaDeAngeles1 I try so hard to not make enemies on YT. People just don't deserve it!

  • HI!!! I LOVE IT:) I'll make one for my home in a few days. Thanks for sharing!

  • For those who are scared and not wanting to rip their old books yet alone good books i recommend tearing a phone book or even magazines even though they don't have a very retro look its still works... hope i helped

  • can you use a magazine??

  • Fantastic idea, tearing books hurts though

  • Fantastic idea

  • Don't hate me for asking, The design is absolutely gorgeous but the thought of destroying an old book for a wreath is something I can't do, so there has to be another way to get the same effect.

  • @Hochichin ... I can say this 1,000 times - but the book I bought was a broken spined poor old thing - and it cost $1. I get your pain though. I love books. But to answer your query? SURE! Use sheet music, colored paper, wrapping paper, old bags - whatever works!!!

  • @JennaDeAngeles1 Oh I must not have caught that part of it where you said it was already busted.. sorry, now I feel bad.

  • @JennaDeAngeles1 Except old broken-spined books can be restored. I have a friethat does that for a living.

  • @JennaDeAngeles1 How many sheets total does it usually take?

  • @Hochichin Use magazines just make sure the pages are about the same size as a hard cover book.

  • @10crecre I never thought about that. I will do that next year. thanks for the tip.

  • @Hochichin You could even mix in some of the pages with color to add some color in your wreath! I can't wait to try in now!

  • @Hochichin You could recycle old newspapers!! Brew a pot of strong coffee and brush it onto the paper. When the paper dries, it will be a little crinkly and have that vintage look to it! Since it will be a little crinkly though, it might be harder to roll so just be patient with it. :D Hope that helps!

  • @rawkstarr89 you know that's not a bad idea, I ampule amounts of newspaper around cause I use it for other things. I may try that, that really isn't a bad idea. in fact...I think you may have just sparked an interesting one...I will try it out and then see if I can post up some images somewhere. thanks.

  • @Hochichin Magazines!

  • this is soooo beautiful, it really is, but it's hurting me seeing you rip these books apart. it's like your ripping a piece of history, I know I'm sorry. But being a writer it's hard to watch....ugg. Is there another way to do this without having to rip old books apart? What about just regular typing paper that's been tea stained or coffee stained? Or even construction paper or old paper bags cut to size? I know it would take a bit longer but it would rescue and old book.

  • about the trombone sacbut thing... i actually knew that...lol

  • @TheBMSpro Me too!

  • WOW~I dont have the patients....

  • Oh my Heavens this is staggeringly beautiful! The show-stopper to end all show-stoppers. Thank you so much for sharing your awesome creative talent.

    Happy Christmas everybody!

    Marion in the UK

  • Qué mujer más simpática!

  • LOVE LOVE LOVE THIS! Wish I had seen this before I moved and got rid of all my old books.

  • @1962dkd I found a great old book at a Goodwill: $1 !!!

  • can i just say, you are a genius! my creativity level is very high, but i would never have thought of that! you inspired me do a holiday wreath. However, i enjoy books alot, so i am going to do it with a magazine( just like i did with the magazine christmas tree)

  • @harkomaltoor Thank you! Enjoy!

  • I love your emphasis on the chocolate. You are my kind of gal. :D

  • Ok! But its kinda hard to hang it cause of how our door is. It has a screen infront of it instead of just the door alone so I rly cant put it in our door or its not gonna show or get flat or something like that. So I was thinking of putting it beside the door where the wall is. What u think. I made one the other day it was rly pretty. Thanks btw.. me nd my hubby loved it! very inexpensive christmas wreath :).. enjoy ur coming Christmas!

  • using old papers look cheap. Wreath is traditionally green.

  • SUPER

  • Hi is this gonna work for a place that gets cold. Im from Montana. I was gonna put it outside the house by the door. Pls responds.

  • @triechane89 Cold is ok: but WET is not. Better option? Hang it inside the house on the front door - mine looks so pretty there! Happy holidays!!

  • God bless you

    annacrafts.wordpress

  • GORGEOUS! WILL DO TO LEAD TO A FRIEND.

    God bless you

  • Oh my gosh, I just love you! So talented and funny! Definitely gonna have to try my hand at this one.

  • I love this idea....This is also good for decorations.

  • Класс!!!

  • Me encanto y se ve muy decorativo, excelente

  • I did this on Thanksgiving weekend and my family LOVES it, thanks

  • @srb68srb4 Glad you liked it! Enjoy and happy holidays!

  • @JennaDeAngeles1 speechless work done... so neat and smart way to make flower <3 it

  • This is so cute, but I love books so much that I don't think I could rip books apart. Maybe if they were completely falling apart, but I just can't bring myself to ripping them apart.

  • @Marisahj18 The book I used was falling apart and the spine was all broken. Better use it for something beautiful than to just toss it!! :)

  • this is Lovely

  • You are so funny! Great ideal. Thanks for sharing

  • love the way you presented it ...

    truly awesome ...

genius ... i m going to try it for my new home

  • Accidentally found this video. Love it.

  • Wow...Stumbled across your video as I was looking for Foam Core projects...Really enjoyed your paper wreath and the video presentation you did here.

And - Oh Yea...the 'chocolate', yep, a necessity!

  • Omg that is so cute, it looks elagant, i will try to do it! ! Thanks

  • GREAT IDEA... WILL TRY IT. THANKS

  • I just made it looks elegant ,thanks for your tips.

  • thats really cool, but couldent I just use news paper?

  • i wish you would make more youtube videos.

  • @crosspecans I will!

  • @JennaDeAngeles1 mrs. angeles do u think using magazines for this is a good ida cause i have alot and i really want to do this

  • Thank you for sharing your M&M's ;0

  • @TheJillbeardharvey : It wasn't easy... but now that I've done it once - from now on it'll be a cinch !!! Thanks for watching :)

  • Loved the wreath!! Good job!!! Where do I find the directions to make this?

    monkeyrags@aol.com

  • @Monkeyrags The directions and free downloads are on my website (sorry, I can't type in the address here but it's jennadeangeles) and if you click on the FREE DOWNLOADS page, there's a list of projects. At the bottom of that list is the ANTIQUE DOOR WREATH. Click on it and you'll have the downloads and directions! Let me know if it works, ok?

  • @JennaDeAngeles1

I made this wreath last night from a sheet music book and it turned out beautiful. Between your tutorial, and sense of humor, I was confident enough to make (with a little help with some M&M's). Thank you for your sharing your talents!

  • made this wreath just loved it

  • Really great video Jenna! Love the charm and humor!! And yes, I'm going to rip up an old book and get going ...

  • could you do it with white printer paper?

  • @DingoDawg100 .. why not? Just make sure the paper is thick enough. I think 24 lb. printer paper would be too light and flimsy. The thicker stuff? For sure! :)

  • I really wish you would do more videos this is so adorable.

  • @VampyRagDoll Thank you! I will!

  • is it possible to spray those papers? will it affect the quality of the paper?

  • @salmaelmeligi : Spray - you mean with spray paint? Only a light dusting before assembly... but if the paper is beautiful why would you want to paint it? Explain :)

  • @JennaDeAngeles1 yeah i meant spray paint..was just asking if its possible to spray it to make different colors and versions of it

  • @salmaelmeligi .. my only concern is that spray paint makes paper wet and heavy and the tubes might collapse. Maybe try different colored papers or wrapping paper ... ? Try it and let me know! :) - Jenna

  • I LOVE this project and Jenna, you are a truly wonderful teacher! :)

  • you know what sucks? when it catches fire.

  • very lovely. but i like the phone book idea rather than a regular book. a book i rip up might be valuable to someone out there.

  • it will get really dusty cause its difficult to clean without damaging it

  • @merihide1 No problem with dust: Merely take your hairdryer (on low or NO heat) and blow it clean once every couple of months. No mess! Enjoy! - Jenna

  • @JennaDeAngeles1 oh thats a good idea actually. thanks :)

  • Very creative! Although I'm against trashing books, I noticed one of the books you used looked as though it were already missing over 1/3 of it's pages, which sometimes happens over years of use. If the alternative is really to toss the book out, why not recycle it into something creative? Good job!

-- BTW - I think a better source of paper might be the recycling bin at work ;) Bring tons of cover sheets home all the time for re-use.

  • @utube101x The book was OLD - with a broken spine, falling apart and cost $1 !!!! There are TONS of old books rotting out there - why not take a trashed old book and make it lovely? I didn't go out and buy an antique collector's item and shred it for kicks! Yee gads!

  • @JennaDeAngeles1 Hun, if you carefully read my reply you'll see I was supporting you. Of all the posts attacking you, why do you choose one of the only supportive ones to attack?

  • GET A LIFE PEOPLE...IT'S JUST OLD BOOKS!!!! DAMMM!!

  • whisper..**chocolate..chocolate..**

    i smiled wen u said these...so cuteee :)

  • calm down people its just books. theres hundreds of copies out there.

  • It will be better mix with some colors for memory too, also, each one put one wish notice in, will be more fun for the new year. :)

  • I like your humor! Thanks!

  • You destroyed books to make that? It's a pretty thing but the thought of someone ripping books apart makes my skin crawl

  • Nice! will try it

  • Not all old books are great antiques, some old books are damaged and out of date. A phone book would look ugly. And to ironbord it would be you're not your. nitrolpr9 it is destroyed not distroyed. I don't have time for this. The wreath is lovely.

  • The wreath looks great. But how dare you destroy such historical, still readable books! I had the greatest urge to cry as you ripped up those amazing books!

You should have used a phone book or scrap paper or something, have some respect!!!!

  • I still cannot believe you distroyed that dictionary for music & musicians. Shame on you. Music comes from the human soul. And you trash it. Have you no respect for the human species?

  • OK, stop crying about a stupid book that no one will ever read again!!!! They end up being thrown away anyway. If we want to get upset about something, try thinking a little deeper! Serioulsy.

  • I can't believe this airhead is turning books into a wreath. She is an embarrassment to womankind.

  • hey ppl who are complaining stfu its a great idea, also you can make non old pages look old....by using teabags, and burning it just a little and crankling the pages your self. that way you dont have the smell of old gross over handled books...

oh aand also printing you own prints with stamps andother things are great too

  • loved this you rock thanks

  • You are disgraceful...You have no respect for antiquity at all. It's because of people like you that the "Dead Sea Scrolls" needed to be hidden in a cave.

  • awesome gift idea for my librarian!!! thanks for teaching

  • In 1922, the Edwardian period had recently ended and Nosferatu was giving ladies a fit of the vapors. Annie Oakley set a record by shooting 100 clay targets in a row. Archaologists enter King Tut's tomb.

  • This would look really cool if you printed off music sheets (Christmas ones) and put it together with music on the outside...would make an awesome Christmas wreath!

  • @harpseal111us hahaha i really thought it was musical notes copies not real books! my lord!

not only are books not being printed as they used to! with all the electronic books and downloads and stuff! but this is not right!

nice idea thoug i do like i think i rather make copies or musical notes xmas songs!

  • Love it!!! Thanks so much for sharing!

  • LOVE it!!

  • To take the decoration a bit further--

Brush the edges of the cones w/glue, and then sprinkle w/various sizes of glitter

    or

Spray the finished wreath with glitter spray [a spray paint that is actually clear lacquer w/ glitter added!]

    or

Extend whatever decorative element you used in the center to the cones, tucking ornaments into the cones, or wheat stems in-between the cones

    or

    whatever appeals to you . . .

  • beautiful

  • Lovely wreath! Thanks for sharing.

  • Hi

    Absolutely fabulous

    Thanks Bernie

  • OMG, you are hilarious and so much fun!! I can't wait to try this. Thanks for the inspiration!

  • How clever!

  • How about tea dying a newer book or zeroxed copies of a page. I hate to rip up books but this is a lovely wreath...Emily Post 1922 may be worth something...check before you rip.

  • oh,oh, ouch! :-( a book killer! Don't like the idea... Sorry!

  • Oooh.. a miniature one too! Thats a great idea :D

I LOVE This idea! Thank you soo much

  • this is great!!!!

  • Fantástico.

  • I LOVE IT!! REALLY THAT HAS TO BE THE BEST CHRISTMAS DECORATION I'VE EVER SEEN. I'M MAKING ONE TOMORROW =-)

  • Beautiful!

  • Oh I love your style!!! Chocolate and rolling pages. How divine!

  • She is so funny, I really enjoyed watching her...

  • We used to do this with computer punch cards when I was a kid. Hahahaha

  • very cute project thou :) .

  • never old books....

HOW ABOUT using the government budget books? will that work......

cant teach anything to the kids...YOU just ripped the book.

  • AWESOME, ANYONE CAN MAKE A MERRY XMAS, THANK YOU

  • LOVE IT.. I will be attempting this
