"required evils to get big" stfu good nutrition and hard work will get you big... I love that fat doctor bitching about dudes who get more pussy than he does
It fucking sucks I know im a pretty big guy and got a pretty big body. Everyone asks me: woow do you workout? Girls say nice arms ur so big! But how in gods name Im never satisfied? Whats that? Yes bigorexia. But why me...
I can totally empathise with people like this. I suffer from muscle-dysmorphia and it is hard looking at yourself in the mirror and seeing something that others don't see... My wife tells me I'm massive, but I honestly can't see that. I see people like Arnie, Jay Cutler, etc and see THEM as massive - I'm nothing compared to them, and this affects my psyche in my comparisons to other "smaller" people...
@rikrodgers You should stop comparing yourself to people who bodybuild for a living. Can the recreational golfer compare his game to Tiger Woods? Cutler's whole day in day out routine is devoted to getting bid. Tons and tons of protein, steroids, etc. If you truely want to know if you are big, go to the mall for an hour and compare yourself to the people there. They represent the general population, not Jay Cutler.
@jordan19862000 you make a good point dude. My new year's resolution is to stop being hung-up on shit like this and start liking myself again - I shall try your method! :D
bigorexia, the word used by people who don't care how they look, or how healthy they are to describe somebody who is dedicated to a goal and will do anything to obtain it.
people who call this "obsessive behavior" are generaly fat, ugly, insecure and virgins
A lot of people seem to be a little confused about biggorexia... MASSIVE difference between it and dedication.. Biggorexias not about getting bigger, it's about them trying to get to a normal size because they think they're skinny.
Being "skinny" makes them depressed and they workout. For them it's not about having a goal, it's just trying to stay away from being skinny.. problem is no matter how much they workout they will always see themselves as skinny.
i cant help it but not take this seriously, these guys just have a set goal in mind and they understand what it takes to get their and thats hardwork, dedication and discipline which a lot of people do not understand or have so they make up bigorexia cuz they simply do not understand.
Highly doubt that one dude has been training for 16 years, must have been training to get in shape but certainly not get big.
Do think some people might have a disorder, nearly killing yourself for the sake of body image is a problem whether you're getting big or skinny. There always needs to be a balance.
@LatestUFOSightings we arent doing it to be sexy, (some of us anyways) its a lifestyle, a way we like to live, to be the biggest or best at what we or they do. we do it for ourselves, not for anyone else, altho zyzz looks pretty good, id like to be a little bigger than that personally, not to compete, but just for personal satisfaction, to prove to myself i can do it :)
I think what Chino doesn't realize is that what is meant by "arm size" is the circumference at the largest point while flexing... not the arms overall length. What a joke.
the guy between 1:04 - 1:11 is so full of shit.. ''Training for 16 years'', yeah fucking right, can't even preform a cablerow with descent form, what a fucking nut...
Yeah sure, genetics is a huge roll, but if you have been lifting for 16 years you should att least know how to preform a row and u should have some size.. He is about 180-185LBS i think..
This is ridiculous. By the same logic you could say that getting a haircut, buying shoes, studying to become smarter, or clipping your toenails is some kind of psychological disorder. What about playing sports and wanting to win? Doing things in a healthy manner is perfectly fine. If striving for a goal just because you're passionate about it is crazy, then anyone with ambition is crazy. Why not call people who read books "literexia": the disorder of wanting to always read MORE. Stupid vid
look, you'd have to have it or know someone who has it to understand it. you don't really know aht it feels like to always want your body to be bigger. it's different than a material item, something that you do not control.
Dude, I work out all the time, and i want to be bigger too. Let me put it this way, are you 100% satisfied with yourself? Probably not. Do you honestly look at your life, body, or image and not think there is ONE thing you could improve? I doubt it. Thus, everyone has the "condition" of wanting to improve. Why do you think ANYONE lifts weights? Why do you think people do ANYTHING.. to IMPROVE
haha how hard can it be to understand. Theres a disease called anorexia..why cant their be biggorexia then? Many people suffer from it and its by now a known disease. An obsessive compulsion disorder plain and simple.
This is an obsession but it's not an illness. Our society is over-medicalising normal, albeit rather obsessive behaviours. The term 'bigorexia' is silly and meaningless. Extreme bodybuilding is not the reverse of anorexia nervosa, which is a complex developmental disorder of which 'body image' concerns are merely symptoms of much deeper problems.
Dude, Chino must have no fucking idea what a 19 inch arm looks like. A 19 inch arm on a normal human is a jaw dropper. The Austrian oak himself had 22 inchers. This guy looks like a weekend warrior flabby shit bag; I guess thats the nature of the pathology, utter delusion.
hahahahaha,,,,chico...."my arms when i get into shape....they have been about 19" they arent big, you arent big, take of your sweater and show us mr big guy..........haha....keep living the lie, i mean dream chico.......hahahahaha
Severe body dismorphia. Bigorexia?Mental illness? NFW! These are just a bunch of people obsessed with wanting a nice muscular body. So am I.There is no problem with wanting that & working hard & dedicating to it. To me, a toned muscular body is healthy & attractive. There is rampant obesity in htis country which leads to lots of disease. THAT is a problem. Just because some of us chose a BB lifestyle & dedicate to it does not make it a disorder. The problem with some (not all) bodybuilding techniques is actually how unhealthy it can be. Note: I'm saying some, not all. There are those who dehydrate themselves to look good (bad idea), there are those who get most of the nutrients from just powders, juices, mixes (bad idea), etc.
for a competition, all bbuilders have to dehydrate themselves;its not some, all. and it is not to just look good, it is something u have to do to be competitive on stage. the sport is like that. not a bad or a good idea
my friends if you wanna get big start pounding out some basic movements, and eating the whole foods. Heavy lifts for shorter time, with more calories equals growth
the mexican guy that said he had 21" arms -hahahaha yeah right!! maybe-18". and the one that said 19", he MIGHT have 17". Part of bigorexia is wanting to be big to the point of LYING about how big you REALLY are! Anyone that is a bodybuilder and knows what a 20" arm looks like knows that these two guys are terrible liars....
i think its sort of a good thing to have this at the beginning to get better and better. to be hungry but have other things to do besides bodybuilding in life
When it starts to take over your life and your daily living. Like that guy said at 1:45, it becomes an obsession. I have friends that would freak out if they could not make it to the gym one day or if they were not able to eat the proper food b/c they thought they were losing muscle and/or getting fat
bodybuilding aint a sport, it's a lifestyle and if bigorexia is an illness then i want a double infection. Bigorexics are bigger, healthier and stronger than 90% of the population.....and that guy talking bout bigorexics have low self esteem..well...he should go on a diet
could it be that maybe they just like working out? people who are highly kinesthetic by nature will be addicted to working on physical things, some of them build houses, some of them build their bodies, play football, they tend to be highly into athletics. The want to be bigger will trigger a reason to do more in the gym, cause why would they want to go home and watch TV? thats boring to them.
Everything pleasureable to the human body releases the chemical dopamine in the brain. So you are right in saying what you said. Its just the difference is, in addicts of any form, the dopamine released in there brains is far stronger when they consume or participate in thier addiction. Thats why bigorexia is a mental illness, the amount of dopamine released from excersise, combined with the addiction to the exercise turns it into an obsession.
unlike aneroxics, a bodybuilders obsession makes them feel good from the results they get for their hard work. People that are aneroxics are very unhealthy and feel terrible about themselves.
Yes a bodybuilders obsession makes them feel good in the gym at that moment in time, but outside of the gym they are plagued with the fact they arn't in the gym. Anorexics feel better when they are starving themselves, and see some form of results. Anorexia and Bigorexia are by no means parallel, but they have a very large amount of similarities, and fall under the same body dismorphic illnesses.
I'm a bodybuilder and i can tell you that, it is not just about working out in the gym, it is a lifestyle commitment that is very healthy for people to ingage in. anorexia is very unhealthy and that is documented
You are missing my point, i study psychology and im merely making the point that they are both body dismorphic disorders. Bigorexia does exsist, it is in the same family as anorexia, not saying it is worse than anorexia.
I wonder about the sociological implications, I know anorexia gets blamed on children growing up playing with barbie dolls, does the effect of huge ripped action figures have something to do with Muscle dysmorphia?
There are answers, watch the film bigger, stronger, faster. It may very well stem from childrens toys. This idealistic physique that is portrayed through action man and g.i joe is going to have effect. Even the toys of luke skywalker has, in proportion to his 1970's counter-part now has a six-pack to boot. Woman see perfect bodies on magazines, movies and tv, men are no different.
Yes, I saw that documentary, thats where I got the idea of the social influences, but I would think that muscle dysmorphia, as with anorexia, has many causes, it can't just be from one source, because if that was the case, every kid who played with GI Joes would have it!
finally,a hint of intelligence, just like anorexia and bdd its mixture of genetics and environmental influences.Without the neurobiological predisposition looking at idealistic body images wont affect you.
Long distance running is bad for your joints. Is trying to be a great long distance runner a disease too? Obviously sports are only for the insecure and mentally deranged...right. Better to just sit on the couch and slowly transform into a fat waste of life.
WTF! These idiots are seriously confused to think they have 19" arms. 19cm maybe. The mexican said 16.5" thats about right. The guy who said 19" is full of shit they were 16" tops. As a former competitive bodybuilder I can tell you an 18" muscular arm is big! If those were 19" arms then Ronnies are 30" plus!!!!
Ha Ha where the fuck are they buying their tape measures? 19" 20" who are they kidding. The only guy talking stright was the mexican with 16.5" arms. If those first two guys have 19 or 20" arms then Ronnie Colemans must be over 30" lol....
Everyone shut the fuck up about it being a bad thing. These people have reasons for being this way. past experiences, ambitions, feeling weak as children, being told by doctors that they are underweight, etc. Classifying this as a problem is like someone asking a rape victim "why won't you let him give you a ride home even though you never meet him? I've known him for 2 years. Jesus christ get over it. You have a problem and you need help". I mean seriously, shut the fuck up.
bigorexia or reverse anorexia is a sub category of body dysmorphic disorder whereby the person sees themselves as puny when the opposite may be true and it disrupts every aspect of their lives, social isolation, steroid use, obsessive bodybuilding, very low self esteem etc.
i have been doin bodybuilding for over a year now, before starting i had problems in my back,i was obese, i hardly could move spetially in the mornings, my blood pressure was very high, cholesterol high, i was so tired that i did not even want it to take my baby to thae park, im still lil fat, i love the results i gat from the gym, i love it! now if ask me do u want biger arms?? hell yes, do i want to get biger? hell yes! i don't see anything wrong with none of this people in this video
Bigorexia is a mental disorder. Just like schizophrenia, it is an illness of the mind and very much something that needs to be treated by medical professionals. Saying that you see nothing wrong with these people is like telling someone who has depression to "snap out of it". Its not as easy as that
the majority of people see badly the bodybuilding, for example when someone plays basketball or football for two hours a day is not an obsesed and of course, he perhaps wants to have fun or else or beinng a champion, and if you ask him if he wants to get better every day whith is sport is normal he answer yes
These days it's wrong to workout and be in shape? Is someone retarded? Stop sitting at home watching TV and eating candy. Get your lazy ass to the gym and sweat.
I agree. Being as big as some of those guys can get you very unhealthy and it's pretty gross looking. And for all you people who are like "what is wrong with the WORLD if we cant be in shape these days" um, what's wrong with YOU is the right question. Did you even watch this???
Being muscular and strong is not unhealthy. In fact all humans are meant to be fit. Modern lifestyle allows people the luxury of physical complacency.
Was this a joke...there's a a disorder for everything, like RaiderHateranemiaphobia...anyways, it's natural to always "want to look better", the difference is that these guys work out to try to make that happen. Some fat guys want to look better but said they don't want to work out. So the difference is one does and one doesn't so one has a problem.
Also, the dude that said his arms are 19 is lying, mine are 17 1/2 right now and mine are bigger than his...oops, that's a problem too, Egorexia
People react to art, illustration and photographs of "perfect" people in their own way. Sometimes this reaction is to feel bad about themselves instead of appreciating what they see and to invent pseudo scientific psycho-terms like "bigorexia" to deflect self loathing.

The "Crisis of Male Body Image" is a non-crisis. Funny, if I spend an hour a day every day in the gym, I would be told I am at risk for a "disorder."
If I spend three or four hours a day surfing the net or watching TV, I'm a couch potato, but no one tries to diagnose me with an emotional problem.

unlike aneroxics, a bodybuilders obsession makes them feel good from the results they get for their hard work. People that are aneroxics are very unhealthy and feel terrible about themselves.
king989killers 3 years ago
Yes a bodybuilders obsession makes them feel good in the gym at that moment in time, but outside of the gym they are plagued with the fact they arn't in the gym. Anorexics feel better when they are starving themselves, and see some form of results. Anorexia and Bigorexia are by no means parallel, but they have a very large amount of similarities, and fall under the same body dismorphic illnesses.
HowyaTom 3 years ago 2
I'm a bodybuilder and i can tell you that, it is not just about working out in the gym, it is a lifestyle commitment that is very healthy for people to ingage in. anorexia is very unhealthy and that is documented
king989killers 3 years ago
You are missing my point, i study psychology and im merely making the point that they are both body dismorphic disorders. Bigorexia does exsist, it is in the same family as anorexia, not saying it is worse than anorexia.
HowyaTom 3 years ago 3
Is it in the DSM-IV?
FriedBacon86 3 years ago
Wow dude, I just checked my abnromal pscyhology text and it's in there, right next to anorexia. Your 100% right
FriedBacon86 3 years ago
cheers man, the more people are aware its a real disorder the more people can get help
HowyaTom 3 years ago
This is true.

HowyaTom 3 years ago
Yes, I saw that documentary, thats where I got the idea of the social influences, but I would think that muscle dysmorphia, as with anorexia, has many causes, it can't just be from one source, because if that was the case, every kid who played with GI Joes would have it!
FriedBacon86 3 years ago
finally,a hint of intelligence, just like anorexia and bdd its mixture of genetics and environmental influences.Without the neurobiological predisposition looking at idealistic body images wont affect you.

Long distance running is bad for your joints. Is trying to be a great long distance runner a disease too? Obviously sports are only for the insecure and mentally deranged...right. Better to just sit on the couch and slowly transform into a fat waste of life.

I love this comparison, I really do. It's so accurate, but people would never dare think of marathoners as "obsessed" or "unhealthy".

Couldn't help but notice, the guy talking about how much guys with Bigorexia suffer is a fat fuck. Hmm...

WTF! These idiots are seriously confused to think they have 19" arms. 19cm maybe. The mexican said 16.5" thats about right. The guy who said 19" is full of shit they were 16" tops. As a former competitive bodybuilder I can tell you an 18" muscular arm is big! If those were 19" arms then Ronnies are 30" plus!!!!
silicon2001 3 years ago
Ha Ha where the fuck are they buying their tape measures? 19" 20" who are they kidding. The only guy talking stright was the mexican with 16.5" arms. If those first two guys have 19 or 20" arms then Ronnie Colemans must be over 30" lol....
silicon2001 3 years ago
Haha exactly what I was thinking!:)

Lol but that's not really right. They really did have 19" and 20" arms. Thats why it is so unhealthy

Im sorry but for having trained in 16 years and not being bigger, that is pathetic.

You know what? There are better ways to get your point across without swearing! Jeez!

bigorexia or reverse anorexia is a sub category of body dysmorphic disorder whereby the person sees themselves as puny when the opposite may be true and it disrupts every aspect of their lives, social isolation, steroid use, obsessive bodybuilding, very low self esteem etc.

Bigorexia is a mental disorder. Just like schizophrenia, it is an illness of the mind and very much something that needs to be treated by medical professionals. Saying that you see nothing wrong with these people is like telling someone who has depression to "snap out of it". Its not as easy as that
HowyaTom 3 years ago
To HowyaTom: That's exactly what I have been trying to say! Thank you!

the majority of people see badly the bodybuilding, for example when someone plays basketball or football for two hours a day is not an obsesed and of course, he perhaps wants to have fun or else or beinng a champion, and if you ask him if he wants to get better every day whith is sport is normal he answer yes

These days it's wrong to workout and be in shape? Is someone retarded? Stop sitting at home watching TV and eating candy. Get your lazy ass to the gym and sweat.
d3Mb0W 3 years ago
dumbass its not about getting in shape
its about an unhealthy obssession with getting big and all the problems ur causig becase of it
streakerz 3 years ago 2
I agree. Being as big as some of those guys can get you very unhealthy and it's pretty gross looking. And for all you people who are like "what is wrong with the WORLD if we cant be in shape these days" um, what's wrong with YOU is the right question. Did you even watch this???
SmileyMadi 3 years ago
Synthol is unhealthy.
Ignorant steroid use is unhealthy.
Being muscular and strong is not unhealthy. In fact all humans are meant to be fit. Modern lifestyle allows people the luxury of physical complacency.
Alectr0n 3 years ago 7
Was this a joke...there's a a disorder for everything, like RaiderHateranemiaphobia...anyways, it's natural to always "want to look better", the difference is that these guys work out to try to make that happen. Some fat guys want to look better but said they don't want to work out. So the difference is one does and one doesn't so one has a problem.
Also, the dude that said his arms are 19 is lying, mine are 17 1/2 right now and mine are bigger than his...oops, that's a problem too, Egorexia

One problem with havnig a well developed physique, is that is creates jealousy in people who are too lazy to get their butts to the gym.

Im sure BIGOREXIA begins when the person notices that their testicles have shrunken from all the steroid abuse.
MrBest85 4 years ago
People react to art, illustration and photographs of "perfect" people in their own way. Sometimes this reaction is to feel bad about themselves instead of appreciating what they see and to invent pseudo scientific psycho-terms like "bigorexia" to deflect self loathing.
