This is brilliant! Saw Roger in concert round 72/73 gigging with two robots as backing group The robots were like this 'Frankenstein', and were standing there on stage. They must have been attached to compressors as he put various instruments in their mouths and they played along as he played sax. Seem to remember Principal Edward's Magic Theatre were on the same bill ~ great show!
Here's another TV show I used to love to watch on saturday morning. Of course, our's was an American version hosted by the great, Paul Winchell. I don't know why it didn't last. It was so cool for children, as you can well see. Plus, PW used to do his routines with his dummies. Does anyone have any of those that they might post, or know where to go to see them on-line?
I loved the way he used to end the Kinetic Wardrobe shows. The old lady's head, filled with feathers, would explode. Then he'd say - "Well, that certainly blew her mind!"
for some reason my adolescent mind took with it the noise of that 'three' from runaround... my mind wondered about the voice, the ghostly voice which was always was the same... then the Yamaha SK1 sampler came out in 87-88 and i could do the same at home... ah ggr ah gggh ah goooo!
....Or he's a retired ex-lecturer at the Chelsea college of art, and very vital member of the Bonzos reunion tour (including some recently revived robots, yay!)
Glad you pointed that out, I was a bit tardy! I saw the Bonzos on their first reunion gig (the one that was on DVD and BBC4), but I gather the tour got better and better. It seems they are doing a new album now. I guess this will be largely old songs they used to do that never made it to an album...I'm hoping for "When Yuba played the Rumba on the Tuba.." (which Roger has done on a solo album, of course) and "I'm Glad That I'm Bugs Bunny"..but anything is great.
roger is the best from the bonzo dog band! he is so funny-smart-and great! go ROG!

Roger Ruskin Spear... what is he doing now? "Entertaining" at some old folk's home, I presume. Or on the dole.
