  • sure, bat lag is good. but you completely miss what bat "drag" is. Look at videos and tell me that Ruth, Williams and Bonds didn't flatten (to some degree, Ruth and Williams more so) the bat. That is not at all what bat drag is.

  • I personally agree with bat lag and the importance of keeping your front arm at a right angle until contact. As a batting instructor, I focus on keeping my shoulders and chest still while isolating my front elbow and rocking it back and forth before moving your shoulders and hips. A simple drill like that can reinforce the general movement of the swing and allow the lag to initiate the swing!

  • i dont understand how getting the bat "flat" early in the swing is a bad thing..if you pause video on bautista right after his front heel plants. the bat is parallel to the ground.

  • Great instruction all correct,just remember to stay up close to home plate the length of your foot away from the plate this gives you complete plate coverage when you swing as instructed by this basic but very good video(see Chase Utley hitting mecanics) perfection.
