Pause the video at around 0:41 and you'll see that the IU player is using his shoulder. There was no helmet-to-chest contact, let alone helmet-to-helmet.

No, the IU player didn't bring him down. He got a brief hold, but lost his grip...but I don't doubt the fact that the brief contact may have caused love to lose his balance and be at an angle that put all the force of a hit in one area.

So i decide to go to IU south bend for a year and transfer to IU instead of going to BSU because I wanted the "big time college sports experience." In case anyone didn't see the final score of the IU BSU game it was an ass kicking. The cardinals cleaned up. NOW THEY ARE RANKED! I feel like a giant douche. Indiana's 2-3 by the way.
I was there and when I saw that hit I immediately knew that wasn't the type of hit you spring up from. I know I personally didn't even see the touchdown cause I wanted to see him get up... From the replay it seems like the hit was clean, although the first guy tried to horse-collar him. I hope he makes a come back to football, cause he is a lot of fun to watch...

For a horsecollar you need to grab and pull him to the ground, the "horsecollar" portion of this hit didn't bring him down and wasn't for the entirety of the tackle, so it was clean and wouldn't be flagged.

I came to check this out, having heard talk of a cheap shot on this play. Nothing could be further from the truth. The defender led with his shoulder. After seeing the contact, I might guess the injury actually came when the receivers head snapped off the ground.

There was no cheap shot at :42, the injury looks to have come from the force of his body being abruptly stopped. It was a clean tackle, no helmet-to-helmet or anything of the sort. It's great to know he has recovered and will lead an ambulatory life.

This is a clean hit. Go frame by frame and you can see that the defender led with his right shoulder, and that he intended to wrap up love around the hips. The defenders head is about waist high on Loves right when they collide. It is just an accident and actually a very good textbook tackle.

So i decide to go to IU south bend for a year and transfer to IU instead of going to BSU because I wanted the "big time college sports experience." I was there and when I saw that hit I immediately knew that wasn't the type of hit you spring up from. I know I personally didn't even see the touchdown cause I wanted to see him get up... From the replay it seems like the hit was clean, although the first guy tried to horse-collar him. I hope he makes a come back to football, cause he is a lot of fun to watch...

For a horsecollar you need to grab and pull him to the ground, the "horsecollar" portion of this hit didn't bring him down and wasn't for the entirety of the tackle, so it was clean and wouldn't be flagged.

You can see hundreds of hits worse than this one any given Saturday watching college football and the guy will pop right up and shake it off. It was a freak accident and it's one of the risks of playing football. Best of luck to both players. There's a lot more to life than football Dante.

If you watch dante love did one major thing they tell you in football to never do and thats not to hit with the top of your helmet. I feel bad for him and happy he aint paralyzed. i was at that game, and my dad and i bein the only ball state fans in the section, were dead quiet, as was everyone else in the stadium cept for the drunks behind us telling them to "hurry the f*ck up" but they got kicked out, and no it wasnt a cheap shot it was a good tackle that led to an unfortunate injury

I came to check this out, having heard talk of a cheap shot on this play. Nothing could be further from the truth. The defender led with his shoulder. After seeing the contact, I might guess the injury actually came when the receivers head snapped off the ground.

There was no cheap shot at :42, the injury looks to have come from the force of his body being abruptly stopped. It was a clean tackle, no helmet-to-helmet or anything of the sort. It's great to know he has recovered and will lead an ambulatory life.

This is a clean hit. Go frame by frame and you can see that the defender led with his right shoulder, and that he intended to wrap up love around the hips. The defenders head is about waist high on Loves right when they collide. It is just an accident and actually a very good textbook tackle.

His teammmates have no idea how to talk to the media and focus on the event that happened. Instead, when asked about Dante the first thing they can say is "Well our other guys stepped up and helped us win the game." Sometimes you dont need to talk about the TEAM but rather pay respect to an injured teammate.

The defender was just doing his job by going after Love's hips... this was a helmet-to-helmet collision that could have been avoided. Coaches should show this to young players as an example of what not to do as an offensive player bracing for contact.
