Mindgames are more or less the ability to predict your opponents moves in all possible situations in order to benefit your own playing. It's also a way of moving/playing in a way that makes the opponent act according to your plans, i.e - psyche the opponent to do predictable things.

Mindgames>Technical skills. That is why CJ>Bombsoldier imho. Technical skills can get you really far, but only players with mindgames reach the top.

Think aboutit this way, Bombsoldier practically disappeared from the competitive scene for 2 years. In those two years players like PC Chris, Forward and Shiz have been rising and competing in tournaments building on their experience. We've only seen Bombsoldier enter one tournament before OC3 and we have seen PC, Forward and Shiz enter numerous tournaments before OC3. And during that 2 year period, we have found ways to counter combos in which we have seen Bombsoldier do at OC3.

BS isn't rusty. Remember back then, BS released so many videos of him doing flashy, sick, and impossible combos. When people saw this, every one went nuts over it and held him to a great player. Unfortunately, he couldn't fulfill that status quo. BS is like Harlem Globetrotters: they do all this cool, flashy stuff, but put them against a real team, they are not same. So in away, BS was like that too.

so what I'm getting here is that, he's example is a perfect demonstration of what makes a skilled pro vs avg joe, which is MINDGAMEm - the key to their separation. BS was good at connecting combos, but he couldn't outwit his opponent. Where he's opponent would pick up his pattern and change his gameplay. BS on the other hand didn't do anything, just kept going head in like a bull. That's he never won a torny. So moral of the story: LEARN TO USE MINDGAME.

You can only win on tech skill alone if you're fighting someone who doesn't predict what you're going to do and take action. Most people play smarter than that, so to win consistently you have to be able to trick your opponent.

Wow. First off, players like Aniki, Masashi, and CJ have all improved a ton. Watch their recent videos (including this one). They are much faster and better. BS isn't rusty. He is still one of the best Falcos. Players have held him in such a high position. Unfortunately, he can't live up to those expectations because other players have found ways to counter his Falco.
