They would have had a completely different vibe in the early days without him but it seems they may not have been able to carry on with him. Ben Kenny brings something new and very smooth

@amishplow27 truth. while Dirk was good, he was a douche, had no stage presence, and didn't even write his own music. the band took a turn for the better when Ben came in. it seems that after he entered the picture, Incubus grew up. their live show is now even better because you get to listen to Ben's different bass lines, and his backup vocals. Dirk played the same shit over and over, live, recorded, it was all the same. no cool jams, no signs of fun.

This is not the original drummer/bassist. The old drummer hasn't been around in nearly 10 years, if not more, so I'm not sure you miss him too much.

As far as the bassists go, Ben Kenney (now) is better than Dirk ever was. Dirk was a punk, didn't write his own music, etc. Ben brings a whole new energy to the band, IMO, he's much better.

Brandon and Jose met in 4th grade, the two met Mike later in middle school, and they started the band when they were 15, later recruiting Dirk and some other DJ, ditching the DJ for Kilmor then recruiting Ben for a Crow Left Of The Murder after Dirk leaving.
