hell yea. Ive been a die hard fan since 2003 RIGHT after YAYM came out. Seen em like 5 times, got 5 more shows before 2009 is over, traveled the country to see em. Talk about greatest current band around.
The Strokes are good and still are good. Jules solo CD is gonna kill OBTN, and Radiohead is God's gift to the 21st century. There is a reason KOL aimed to sound like them on OBTN and failed..horribly.
KoL didn't try at ALL to be like Radiohead. Radiohead is definitely pure genius, but OBTN was not even nearly an attempt at anything Radiohead-esque. KoL is KoL, Radiohead is Radiohead, both are great in their own way. You know Ed O' Brien and Thom Yorke of Radiohead both said that KoL is the greatest band in the world right now.
I agree Jules solo cd will probably be great, but to say it's gonna KILL OBTN, are you serious or are you a 15 year old girl? I think we all know the answer...
Yes OBTN was geared for a more mainstream audience, but it is still great music. The music from YOUTH and AHA was pure greatness and on TIMES and OBTN it showed another level of pure greatness...I'll agree to disagree but one thing's for sure KOL are on a level that the STROKES will NEVER achieve...
Their first three cd's were amazing, obtn was horrible. Have you even listened to the Strokes? Listen to First Impressions on an intellectual level and youll realize the Kings will never be that deep or philosophical. The Strokes opened the door for the Kings (as well as an array of other bands) to even be accepted. The Strokes are the saviors of rock in the 21st century, dude. Accept it.
The Kings used to open for the Strokes and now they open for...NO ONE. I never said the Strokes were not great, I like them, I just think the Kings have way more to offer. Any way I started with the comment that they are the best band going and that's how I will end it :) Oh and what do you think of this song...you know the one that got this comment frenzy going?
Actually the Kings were just opening up for Pearl Jam and U2 last year.
Anyway, i think this song is amazing. It's good because it sounds more like Zeppelin and less like Britney Spears. I think the kings kinda went commercial for one album just to get americans attentions, then they are probably planning to go back to good music. You know?
Yea, even in interviews they said that for the next album they're going back to their roots like in Youth and Young Manhood. Im looking forward to the new album SOO much. Eddie Vedder admits that while he was writing PJ's last album (not the new one) he was listening to Aha Shake Heartbreak (my personal favourite) the whole time.
They opened for them 3 or 4 years ago. Yeah this one is total greatness. I agree they're trying to gain the attention they deserve but they still made good music doing it. Caleb's voice is amazing and defines what a rock voice should sound like...I defintely will be looking forward to those all out jam tunes that we've come to know and love...
@PortugalTheAccount Yepp. I was extremely upset with the release of their fourth album. There were 40+ year olds singing along to "Use Somebody" at their last show. Not good. Aha Shake Heartbreak/Youth and Young Manhood forever!!
