I like your video as well! The footage was original and incredible, and I was so suprised when I found out this is all Manitoba! I guess Canadians can easily relate to Jenssen's music; we also live in a serene, beautiful, isolated world, free of war, pollution, and urbanism.
I've got same feeling, but I always imagine Siberia, maybe because there is track with Russian poem(?) on this album. All album is a little bit "snowy".
It is not a russian poem..it is something much better..
I talked to Geir Jennsen after a show and he revealed the secret of the two monologue-samples to me...i´m so proud to knwo them and feel so special..but i can´t hold back my knowledge to all Biosphere-fans out there...
So...here it is..the monologue coming right after this song here in the song "Hyperborea" is..i almost fainted when he told me..a monologe by Air Force Colonel Riley from TWIN PEAKS!!!
So great to have the best series of all times in the best ambient album of all times!
And the second monolgue-track ((in think "Kobresia") with the russian "POEM" is..well, people, PREPARE, because you WILL NEVER BE ABLE TO HEAR THE SONG WITHOUT SHIVERS DOWN YOUR SPINE AGAIN:
it is a recording of a russian psi-spy! Jennsen told me of some great chess-master who claimed to have been mentally distracted by pschokinesis or whatever. The guy speaking in the song claimed he was the one doing it. (I tried to find out something on WIKI to give you indepth here, but no avail)..
in this track this Psy-guy is trying to read the visual reception of a girl looking at pictures in another room. He is repeating words while he is trying to get ahold of the images comning to him.."i see..a tree.. a tree.. with..a tree with a bench" or something like that (can´t remember what G.J, told me back then, just tekling you as i remeber it).THATS WHY IT SOUNDS LIKE A POEM!
NOW LISTEN TOM THAT TRACK AGAIN AND TELL ME WHAT YOU FEEL!
"It is either metal or ... If it's metal, it is painted... Cold surface. It is either metal (painted), or, maybe, plastic. Colored. There is... Bright. Looks like... Maybe, it's a toy? The surface is smooth, but here are some projections. Finger sticks. Maybe it is... Some kind of dents... or... or it is letters... or just projections... Looks like a toy. Multicolored metal or plastic, painted metal. That's it. Stop."

it wasn't a russian poem, it was a voice transmission excerpt of russian origin by an astronaut explorer from a film

So, back to "Kobresia":
in this track this Psy-guy is trying to read the visual reception of a girl looking at pictures in another room. I found a translation few months ago:

[source] - Karl Nikolajev: a "biocommunicator" who sits in a room trying to "see" what kind of object is placed on a table in a room two floors up.
Sorry for double replay.
This translation is of course for Kobresia.
I found it at s107(dot)net
