Walt Disney World Vacation 2009: Pop Century Resort Walk-through

Four years, and two trips to Disneyland, Anaheim later, I think my family will be happy with riding Soarin' only once ;p

Stayed at Coronado Springs Resort in '99 and then All-Star Movies Resort in '07. But in a month & a half, I'll be staying there, at Pop Century Resort! Can't wait! I remember my family's last day of our vacation in '07; we rode Rock 'n' Roller Coaster and saw Lights, Motors, Action at DHS and then went to Epcot to see if we could ride Soarin' one last time... The line was far too long, and FASTPASS only had much later times, so we rode Living with the Land instead.

@gabbygabgabsters I give it 10 versus the other 3 Value Resort options. The location is great and it has a dedicated bus from the parks compared to the other Value resorts all sharing a bus. The food court and shopping is also better in my opinion.

I went to Pop century just a few weeks ago. I loved the themes all across the resort. The room itself was just a hotel tripped out with disney decor and that was ok because we did not spend a ton of time in the room. One thing that totally stunned me because i usually think of Disney as money hungry is this. I am a Disabled person who finds it much easier to travel with a companion as a result I usually need two roomsTo my surprise Disney actually comped me a second room. Kudos to you DIsney

Folks...do you realize, that NONE...NONE of Disney's Value resorts are rated very high.And not because they're cheaper, because they're not...money isn't the reason at all. And before you book a Themed hotel you spent $200 PN on...think about this.Am I going to WDW for the hotel? How much time will I even spend at the hotel. Save yourself some cash, and realize the reason you're even going...the PARKS.Why spend all that money for Disney, just to spend half your time at a fancy Motel 6.

@Wayneman117 Ok, I actually understand what your saying and have stayed ON & OFF property. Staying ON property is much better. When I stayed off property the hotel got good ratings on hotels.com, it was dirty, cheap, smelled and the service was horrible. I didnt rent a car because they had "free buses" to the parks but they only ran twice a day, once in the morning around noon and again at night, before the park closed. And thats only IF you could get on it, they were packed.

@Wayneman117 Staying ON property changed everything about the trip, made it more magical. The buses to & from the park/hotels ran every 10-20 minutes, the rooms were very clean, everyone was so friendly. Just look at my Disney videos. Everyday when I came back to the room there was always something magical to discover. Being on property really was the best experience I've ever had. As for me, I'm dedicated to staying on Walt Disney World property.

Do you know if they have updated the t.v.'s to flat screens? They were doing that last summer at the POFQ when I went.

I love the video/slide show. The only thing I would improve on is the music. I just overdubbed this with "Pop Musik" by the artist "M" from 1979 and it works perfectly!! Anyway, I do love what you've done with this!!

@Goofy4Mickeytd Thanks...music is always a hard choice...especially since Youtube has such stringent policies when it comes to the use of soundtracks. If you pick the wrong one...they will just silence your soundtrack or disable your video all together.

We were there the same time as you. When we got back we were watching videos. At one point we saw one of our group walking through your video(food court). That was Kim's one second of fame. We love the Pop Century Resort and will be there again in November.

Is there bus service from this hotel to the Universal Studios Resort / International Drive?

No...they are competing resorts so you will have to take a cab from Disney Property to Universal Studios

You can get to downtown disney with the bus abd behind the disney store are standing cabs. Take one of them and then go directly to universal or go to premium outlet . on the side of Mc donalds is a I-Ride Trolley stop. Take the I-Ride Trolley to wet´n wild and then you must walk 10 Minutes to universal mainentrance. From downtown to premium costs 12 $ and the Trolley costs 1,25 } for each Person. The cab directly cost something around 45 $

I booked my trip yesterday for Disney.. if you stay on Disney property my travel agent said you can get a shuttle to Universal.. of course, you have to pay extra

oh my gosh! I love Pop Century! I stayed there on my first trip to Disney World last year...it was so wonderful...my family and I stayed in the 80s section..it's so colorful and the atmosphere is amazing! I love Disney! I can't wait to go back this summer{though Christmas time was the BEST!}

The part over the bridge was abandoned many years ago. There are no plans to continue building The Legendary Years.

This is the resort hotel we will be staying at in April 2010. I CAN'T WAIT!!! We will have 3 adults and 2 kids... do u know if there are any rooms available that have 2 king size beds instead of 1?

Don't know of any with 2 kings. The rooms are not really big enough for 2 king size beds. 2 Queens are about the max for that space. It is a great resort. Have a great trip

3 should be ok. They are not that bad...just realize closet space is limited or I should say hanging space is limited and you have one sink and one vanity.
