You'd be surprised as I thought it was that initially (it was quieter when I bought the car). My local garage thought it was a little end, and when I took it to a mate's house (who has built a few engines) and a Porsche specialist, they thought a conrod was going to exit the block LOL.
We put an endoscope down the bores. No 2 was very badly scored.
might want to check out your lifters/valve train. Engine prob. wouldn't run if a piston were making that kind of racket.
