  • Right so this is basic six and i just learned it yesterday and it isnt TOO hard but this video shows NOTHING. Too far away and i didnt even see the use of the toepick which is what i WANTED to see and you explained n o t h i n g. So thanks for nothinggg. -___-

  • oh come on! i started ice-skating this year and i can already do the jumps and bunny hop and the tea pot!

  • We have just been learning this and have to do it in a sequence, like cross rolls onto the bunny hop and straight into a drag.. I think once you fully you fully understand how to do it, its really easy to do, it only took me 20 mins to perfect it :)

  • easy

  • Is it bad that I've been skating for 8 years and just starting to learn this?

  • oh i thought it was just a basic jump up and down... but i guess its kinda like a scissor jump? you know like for a high jump...?

  • Comment removed

  • Wait.....I learned it differently.

  • It isn't advance. it's basic.

  • I learnt this in level 7 :/

  • Advanced??? I learned that's basic 6!!!

  • that is the least advanced jump that there is!!!!

  • You missed your pick..?

  • THIS IS NOT ADVANCED!!!

  • That's fine and dandy but you didn't tell us HOW to do it

  • Ok so i've been skating for 11months now and i can do a waltz jump and i take private lessons so my coach likes taking things slow, but perfect every single thing, but i learned a bunny hop today and it's soo confusing so i kick up, land on toepick and switch feet and push off right? but i tried it on the wall for 20 minutes and gave up and went to practice my scratch spin..):i'm confused help.

  • @yalda96 u don't have to switch feet.

  • Okay people yes this isn't that advanced in your mind... but when you first learn this like i did yesterday it is surprisingly difficult... landing on your pic is not the easiest thing in the world to do!!

  • @oceanyah12345 it isn't that hard. i learned it the first day that i tried. just put ur other foot down really fast in front of u after u put down ur toepick.

  • it if ur trying to teach people the bunny hop why would u do it so far away from the freaking camera ? i cant see what ur doing . :s

  • bunny hop is not advance jump i learn this like when i started learning my 3rd class

  • Those are so much fun! I do it at least 100 times when I skate.

  • For beginners and for those who had just started skating, this is kind of advanced. But to others that have been skating for a long time (like me lol XD) its not that advanced.

  • av , faz um bunny hop pro ai mulesk

  • @LolyaZatsune828 ohh well i leanred it when i was 4 and now 14. itmay be a jump but not advanced

  • Comment removed

  • @LolyaZatsune828 all my doubles and working on tripples now, wa bout you?

  • these do not prepare you for waltz jumps or axels because you're supposed to keep your leg straight.

  • I learned this in Gamma (intermediate 1) xD

  • lol ^-^ advanced,,, where i live they teach this to the grade 8' skaters

  • those are the shittiest bunny hops i've seen. i do those for warm up. how is this advanced.

  • @KiSSMEiMViET Advanced for those of us who are beginners.

  • start with bind mwheelup +jump

  • thats llike not even a jump

  • omg thats not hard?!?!!?!?

  • Lol i now finished all my grades in ice skating but the first time i learnt this jump i landed in a bump on the ice and fell onto my back! i was only 7 at the time and im now 14. it hurt like hell but just practice off ice first so you get used to it. dont be afraid to try it even if you do fall the first couple of times :)

  • they should of filmed it a bit closer.

  • wow...

    not an advanced move.

    AT ALL.

Im terrible at skating and I can do that.

  • i skated for like 4 years...about 2 years ago...this was the first move i ever learned

  • what the hell bunny hops are so friggen easy its nnot even advance and they teach you those when you are learning !!!!!

  • Bunny hops are not advanced moves. you learn them almost right after you start skating. Oh and btw, im sorry but those bunny hops are terrible. youre supposed to kick your knee up not forward, so that it can prepare you for actual umps like waltz jump and axel.

  • @beccabear54 totally agreee

  • @beccabear54 uhh, no you're not supposed to kick your knee up, its sopposed to be super straight. You don't kick your knee up super high in an axel, I should know, I do them.

  • @alrenmar13 uhm what are you talking about? i've had my axel for 3 years, i think i would know. you need to go up with your knee for the height then transfer your weight. if you don't bring your knee high, then your axel will suck.

  • i didnt learn it that way, in my club there is 2 ways, do a couple of pushes lift up ur right leg and hop onto your right foot or just do a normal hop in the air.

  • This video should not be titled "Advanced Ice Skating Jumps" =( because it IS classified as a beginner move according to the USFSA. If it wasn't a beginner move, then it would be in the Senior Moves test! >=[ which it isn't.

  • All she is doing is using the momentum from her free leg and swinging it through. you are supposed to bend your knees and press through. This helps you practice control and knee bend

  • i'm sorry.. but those Bunny hops are terrible =( and this is NOT advanced. they may be able to fool someone who has never skated before, but i learned this in the first week of skating. this is a Basic 3 move. Also bunnyhops are meant to prepare you for jumping. (for a waltz jump or axel which both take off on a forward edge), and the way she is doing the bunnyhops here is not very effective for preparing you to jump.

  • ive been skating for over 2 years and that is not really advanced if you just keep practicing

  • Its advanced for some people!!! I have only being skating for 4 months and started learning this on Thursday. Its advanced for beginners and these videos are made for BEGINNERS! So i really dont get how you "professional" ice skaters can come onto these videos and boast about how great you are and how simple these moves are. Everybody has to start somewhere, and i bet you found this tough when you first started out.

  • Thank you someone who acotrly knows what there talking about :D i thought this was ementizly hard i still kinda do :D thank you for telling these people off :]

  • @KirstyMarieXD

Really? I have been skating for a few weeks and we learned these last week.

  • @houseofnight1996 coooooooooooooooooooooooool .

  • @KirstyMarieXD Thanks for speaking up for us beginners. I'm an adult beginner myself, and passed my Alpha/Beta (ISI) test tonight. So yes, moves for me like backward crossovers were hard! However, I'm looking forward to the challenge of doing the Gamma/Delta levels, which includes the bunny hop. :)

  • @KirstyMarieXD Thank you for sticking up for us beginners! What are you currently skating at? I'll be starting ISI Adult Gamma/Delta this fall. Bunny hops are kinda scary because of the whole falling thing. However, I found that if I push that fear aside, I generally do the movement better. Granted, my bunny hops look like small skips/stumbles right now, but I have to start out somewhere.

  • @jfluter No worries :) And im from the UK so you might not understand what im about to say level-wise... haha, im on my passport booklets. I do dance and figure skating now and im silver on each. I'm also taking Feild moves tests, Ice dance tests and Singles tests. Bunny hops have saved me loads! They've prevented me from falling on my face so many times when in a forwards spiral. Don't worry about them, they will come it just takes some time, but keep going at it... I'm sure you will do fine :)

  • @KirstyMarieXD I tried them the last day that my rink was open, and once I got the hang of doing them (the "line trick" REALLY helps), they came fairly easily. I still do have that fear of falling, but according to another skater at the rink, she said that they looked really good, and would be considered "passing" in a test. :) However, since it's been a few months since I've been on the ice due to my rink being closed, we'll see how it goes in a few weeks. lol.

  • @KirstyMarieXD Yes , I've been skating for almost 1 year and im on Level 7 , But i was taught this in level 4/5 .

  • @KirstyMarieXD Yeah your right im a basic 8 that started like 5 years ago and still doing it i remember when spinning was sooo hard and putting one leg up was soo hard...Your gonna get it aventually just like i did and i never verly said anything bad on these videos but the people who are shouldnt be talking cause they know they can do it

  • @KirstyMarieXD I'm sorry to say this, but you're not gonna be an advanved skater in four months, advanced skaters are more like.. figure skating for two years, or four. If you can't do this by then.. you fail pretty much unless you were still really young when you started. So this is not really advanced figure skating..

  • @Cisjwish Thats a fair point, but if you're a complete beginner, then a Bunny Hop is going to be an advanced move for you. Fair enough, you don't see this as advanced but thats because you aren't a beginner. Im now a figure skater/ice dancer of over 2 years, and i will agree that the title of this video is a bit misleading and i get why some people don't really agree with it, but these tutorials are clearly for beginners, so my problem is with the people who make the beginners feel like crap.

  • @KirstyMarieXD rude

  • @KirstyMarieXD were not all boasting, were just saying that overall these arnt really advanced moves like double or triple jumps... im just saying it gives the wrong impression but yes everyone found this difficult when they started like me :)

  • @KirstyMarieXD i think i STARTED learning this in like month 2 of skating lessons, i didnt ever really try it untill like month 4 and never got it down till like month 5. it CAN be very difficult but if you practice it enough it will be easy to you! :D

  • watch 0:32

  • This is on level 6 to a beginner this is going to be hard or someone like me watching who cant skate but likes to watch it.

  • my favorite is... "Charlene Johnson-Dodge is a professional ice skater who has been skating in shows and competing for ELEVEN YEARS." ... youve GOT to be SHITTING ME not only does it say this but in front of her name it states EXPERT now dont get me wrong i may be no expert but nothing says: I know what im doing, IVE BEEN COMPETING FOR MORE THAN A DECADE, IM an EXPERT at FIGURE SKATING like.... HER STROKING 0:27-0:33
  • secondly:

expert village nice job on the closed captioning... you know its really helpful when demonstrating something to cover it up WITH A FRICKEN DIALOGUE BOX

    thirdly:

    bunny hops

    level four

i dont think any of you will argue that

  • this aint advanced!!! lol but this vid is funny

  • I have only been skating for 6 months and we are working on this. It's not that hard but it's not as easy as it looks.

  • are you in a group class...?

  • Yes.

  • i agree

  • geeezz i duno guys. this looks pretty hard. give her some slack

  • seriously this isnt advanced. advanced is like doubles and triples. i learned a bunny hop when i was 3. come on.

  • I f you think this is hard you are severly demented.

  • lol ikr?

  • riite ya i kno its not advanced but its watim workin on...

so is ur skate thats in the air touchin the ground to lift off for the jump (like the toe pick)?

  • ano lol i could do that im in grade 3 well i havent started it yet

  • iv been able to skate since i could walk.. i learned that when i was 2... advanced whatever

  • hah makes my double salchow look easy thats hard stuff man bunny hop so advanced!!!

  • This is soo advanced!

It makes the axel I just learned look Hard!

    jk.

Haha, they should have put basic though.

  • Advanced I learned that when I was four.

    Basics!

  • its hardly advanced and is definately not a jump... lol... failing amateures

  • funny story....Note its not that funny...anyway I was doing a bunny hop and this was like "are you left handed" and i was like "no" and i told my friend and she laughed cause there is not really a left handed of right handed bunny hop

but I do left handed spins and my coach hates that about me and is trying to get me to not to do them...yeah

also Advanced?? I think not made me smile tho [=

anyone know some tricks on an axel?

  • This isnt advanced.

  • wtf? this is not advanced...

  • that advanced?! ROFL!!!

  • wtf? why is this advanced? LOL

  • LOL advanced??????

  • lol this is like gamma stuff right? lol

  • I learned this in level 3! Thanks anyway though.

  • Advanced? i think i've been bunny hopping since my first time just pissing around.

  • How is this advanced it's an easy jump

  • isn't this delta? i'm gamma but my teacher said it's good to learn early

  • advanced??? this is like the first jump you learn! lol

  • I learned this when I was only 3 or 4! and i'm 16 now! lol its so easy...

  • does anybody know if you can do this on inline skates? or do you absolutely need that toe pick to push yourself to jump?

  • you have to have a toe pick to push off of...

  • ugh...the bunny hop...advanced move?...i think not....im in skating and you learn the bunny hop in like the 4th level

  • they mean anything above 1/2 jump and full jump

  • umm yeah the bunny hop isnt above any 1/2 jump or full jumps trust me

  • you mean freestyle 4 or beta? i culd do it in alpha

  • This jump is so easy!

  • wow....honestly....i thot i was playing around when i first skated.....I LOVE EXPERT VILLAGE...very informative....and i gonna try a lot of the jumps later on....wait, what are those that we jump with both legs then we sit spin....??...look interesting...=P

  • -bangs head- my goodness this is not even close to advanced. stay put then take your right leg and lift it as if u r going to step up than make sure ur toe is pointed down and when it comes in contact with the ice the toe pick is dug into the ice then move into doing this with one stroke 4 strokes would be to fast the first time

  • lol this was the first jump i ever learned.

  • I love this series! Such clear explanations and demos!

  • awesome when i start lessosns and when i get good at it i'll try this!
