This can explain the fruition of the political community. In the beginning we acted in self-interest unbeknownst to us was that it was beneficial to other human beings and then when the community reached a critical mass so to speak we become conscience of this relationship and decided to make it one better. Hence the birth of civilization. Maybe I'm making a bit of a stretch here.
Emergence can explain the wax and wane of the economic system it seems every 20 years the economy of a nation experiences a recession of well if it is you that is unemployed it is a depression. This is when the 30-year mortgage is defaulted on by those that don't have a grip on their finances. It is why some can play the market so well they buy a stock here sell one short there based on noticeable patterns but the cycle lessens to a point then go back to a broader plane. with 3 atomic particles, how many elements are created? with those elements, how many molecular structures? its quite simple. order exists in nature because there is a "brain" known as natural law. lets say there are, at the subquantum level, 4 laws. extrapolated across millions and millions of particles and interactions, thats going to be pretty complex

Very provocative throwing down the gauntlet, yet no reply to the challengers. Are you afraid or simply embarrassed to display the intellectual bankruptcy of theism?

I like the emergence of the "wave" or triple beat of "we will rock you" at sporting events.

DSowns1111,
No...
not exactly right.
Emergence is the rise of complexity from simplicity.
umm...
to put it simply.

I argue that self-interest is simplicity. Wouldn't you agree?
WATITDOO16 2 years ago
I understand, and agree with, your propostion here that civilization is an emergent property of human culture
Biological systems would be an emergent property of chemical & physical processes.
Below, I simply meant that individual self-interest is not, in & of itself, what is meant by self-organization.

Its not so much the idea of "god" that I have a problem its the behavior of uncritically believing something that I have a problem with.

Everything is emergent. All its saying is that people/objects do things in their best interest. Its really just common sense.
