  • this was removed in the name of politcal correctness (sic) and lets not pretend any differently apparently this offends the human rights of citizens of this country who were not born here..nuff said really

  • Espectacular!!!!

  • 1:33 omg, you can see the scary guy from Bill Bailey's Room 101 nomination of the Last Night of the Proms :D

  • @neildottp At least I think it was his..

  • @haroos and people who go to wrestlemania arent, yes we english are "fags" we believe in science diplomacey free religion, unbiased news, though sky and even bbc push it sometimes, enjoy your next president the guy who got a cheer because he excecuted people, or you could always get the crazy christian marriad to a guy man, also China called they want their money back

  • english people are fags ? what's with the bouncing ?

    fucking fagish.

  • @haroos what?

  • @haroos are you calling the english fags?

  • @MrMusicalmatt those guys who do the up and down thing (even when there was no music !!), definitly.

  • @haroos Its called enjoying the music. Why do people dance to music at discos? Its because it is fun.

  • @MrMusicalmatt i'm sorry, i don't accept that answer.

it isn't a ball room dance floor for fags, it's just fags bouncing like, FAGSSSSS.

    ahhhh, i am now relaxed.

  • Priceless! Tears of laughter...

  • I was once involved in a group tap dance to this on stage for a dance show. We all thought our feet were going to fall off near the end as we tried to keep time!

  • What's with all the convict flags? Ozzie knobs!

  • quack quack!

  • What a disciplined orchestra & audience - where-else!!

  • I think that conductor must have burned off at least 4 pounds with that workout.

  • I never knew this had a name!

  • Brave audience trying to get Sir Mark Elder to speed up!

  • How come the loudest horns are never in time?

Why didn't they do this for this year's proms?

I love it, it's one of the best bits!

  • Duguk......

Can you tie them in a knot, can you tie them in a bow??!!!

  • man im irish and all things so british like the proms annoy me.but this is class why did you get rid of it.

  • I'm sorry how is this not pc? Is it offensive to sailors or something? This tune wins everything. I want it as my ringtone.

  • Agree with the comments about this being missing from the Proms. Disgraceful. So it's not PC. So what!

  • Mark Elder should always do last night of the proms. :)

  • I love the last night of the proms , wish i could find a woman who loves them as much as i do

  • DugUK..... Can you tie them in a nott, can you tie them in a bow??

  • @PhilipClare Do you get a special feeling, when they bang into the ceiling?

  • Doooo your balls hang low, can you swing them to and fro...

    (I'm sorry! I couldn't resist!)

  • @duguk it's not just you, every year when 'Land of Hope And Glory' somes on, my mum and I always go 'LAND OF SOAP AND WATER!'

  • @duguk ... different tune.

  • With the furious pace i'm surprised the violins didn't catch fire! They should bring this back for the Last Night again, does anyone know why they removed it in the first place?

  • @111chris222 Afraid I can't find any information why - just that it was removed in 2008. A huge shame to see it missing. Isn't going to be in this years either, sadly.

  • @duguk I emailed Auntie about this (a british term for the BBC), and they said that they removed it for reasons of keeping the program fresh and inovating. They plan to bring back the ENTIRE Fantasia On Sea Songs for 2011

  • @Trek001 You Sir, are a legend!

You've made my day! I can't wait until September now!

  • @duguk Well they said they plan on doing it - whether they do so or not is another matter of course. I do agree that they've lost their way over last few years. They did plan to remove Rule Britania from the selection, but decided otherwise because they knew there would be a revolt.

    Can't wait until September either.

  • @duguk i heard that it was for some dodgy 'politically-correct' multiculturalism or something. they didnt want to be nationalist, and they confused that with patriotic. apparently.

  • @Trek001 Considering you went out of the way to explain that it was the BBC, could you have not just called it the BBC?

  • @Trek001 Its a shame they didn't.

  • @Trek001 this wasn't on last night. disappointed as only reason i watched lol

  • @111chris222 whoever plans the thing each year sucks. They need to bring em back. Doesn't look like it's on this years play list either.

  • @111chris222 it would be interesting, in the name of serious science of course, to know the temperature difference between the violin strings before and after this

  • @111chris222 Because they are knob-heads.

  • @MHorton1000 Politically 'correct' knob-heads, even worse.

  • @111chris222 Yes, according to Desmond Carrington on Radio 2 a week or two agao, it is no longer included because the BBC who organise The Proms, don't have time to include it with everything else they have to play.

    They're words not mine!!

  • Ahh gotta love the British, no matter how many people we have in the same room listening to beautiful music while bobbing up and down in gorgeous evening wear, there will always be one person there with a horn getting their fifteen minutes of fame :-)

  • after nearly fifty years of watching the proms...I still want a high powered rifle to take out the 'hilarious jokers' with the airhorns, flags, inflatables,etc...

  • @cosycleaner sad thing is, nowadays you could replace the word proms with world cup in ur statement and it would still stand.

  • @cosycleaner maybe they'll have all the vuvuzelas left over from the world cup this year, if they have the sea shanties in this year.

  • never thought that an orchestra could play this fast...stunning

  • haha theres always one guy with a gas horn

  • Such a shame they weren't in last year

I was at the Swansea Last Night, and I had no idea they WEREN'T going to do the sea shanties. They were my favourite bit! Instead we got that modern nonsense by some pretentious teenager. PAH! I was 16 at the time, and I had better taste in classical music than that oaf. Even the orchestra hated it, one of the violinists apparantly looked at my mum (who was giving a look of concerned distaste) and shrugged! Awful drivel, not worth loosing the beloved horns

  • woah... O.O that is... fast???

  • This song wins life.

  • hell yes

  • Ahhhh, the English. Never have so many well dressed people bounced up and down to the tune of a sea shanty. Gotta love my country ;3 England FTW

  • @Variella lol, are you joking? Look how silly this looks. I would be embarresed to stand between them. Just do normal and enjoy the music FFS. I only see weirdo's here.

  • Can we have the sea shanties back in the proms please. :)

  • i agree

  • well panga, i think he´s just impressed and enjoying the ambience. :D

  • The Chinese guy at 0:34 looks like a stunned mullet.

  • in my mind the best rendition. Gotta love Mark Elder

  • Love this every year it gets better!!!!!!! Fantastic!!!

  • *waves hi to another sheffield person*

they didn't have it this year if i recall.
