God I'm so sick of hearing people talk about Jack Johnson and even comparing his music to Vedders. Really? I mean, come on, Jack Johnson doesn't even compare, in terms of talent, to Eddie Vedder. People, please get off his dick. It reminds me of everyone loving this Beiber pussy, same bullshit. I know I sound angry, but Pearl Jam and Vedder are pioneers of beautiful, deep deep music. Don't get it twisted.
pearl jam love to surf. it was only a matter of time before eddie fell in love with the ukulele, and i completely understand. sounds like a tiny classical guitar with a capo. sounds great with the contrast of a deep voice.
Was never a fan of Pearl Jam growing up. All my parents and their friends were obsessed, but I never liked Eddie's voice. I heard this song a little while after it came out, at sunset, driving towards huge beautiful fireworks. One of the most amazing moments of my life.
@gnarlynicole94 -- they did...Kokua Festival 2007 in Waikiki, I was lucky enough to be there for both shows! Also, Bonnaroo 08, Jack played the main stage right before PJ, and I was also lucky enough to be there for that one too!
@gnarlynicole94 they have. i saw jack johnson and pearl jam at bonnaroo 2008 and jack johnson had eddie vedder come on stage with him for a few songs. it was so awesome!
Eddie Vedder is truly a talented man. It takes guts to go from a hard rocking grunge band to a mellow soloist. It amazes me that this song is so underated compared to the mainstream music that is forced out nowadays. Eddie supports so much of his own self being in his music that it just baffles me that such few people like this sort of music.
@tekubus Oh so you don't respect Eddie Vedder? The coolest, funniest, and most sexiest singers in the world besides all other singers like him? Well, you'll get bad luck for life.
@tekubus stfu, what the hell is wrong with you, oh im so sorry i forgot you like that fagot justin bieber instead of likeing REAL music like eddie vedder. so shut the fuckup, dick sucker. (:
Jesus Christ, I cannot believe what has happened to this immense talent. I was such a die hard until he started penning chessy crap lyrics (Backspacer). It was a nice run though, a shame he lost the edge that is needed for inspiration.
@mopasta obviously YOU do not truly know what "inspiration" is. Vedder's Into the Wild and Ukulele songs is more moving and inspirational than anything he has ever done. Open your mind....open your heart...and you will hear the heavens open up.
@tekubus Couldnt yu just lick your arm instead? Dont insult the music, just listen, or if you dont like it, then either go to a different video or have constructive criticism. If you jus insult it, then you are what you want to eat, so you can shut up. I mean, i personally dont like it as mcuh as, say, spin the black circle or dissident, and nowhere near rearviewmirror, but im not gonna post a comment calling it crap. Now learn some manners before you post more youtube comments.
I'm a lifelong pearl jam fan. I watched this video and song hoping to be moved by it. I don't want to stir up hate or emotion either, but this song didn't create the euphoric feeling I'm accustomed to while listening to them. To be blunt, it's boring and non-catchy. What happened to Vedder's melodic writing that hooks you? And to get older or more mature doesn't fit that bill either because he's capable of writing unbelievable melodies. I've just been let down lately, again and again.
All I have to say is BEAUTIFUL..i loved the Into the Wild soundtrack and now this. Wow. I think is genius..I like the fact that Eddie can get a way from PJ and do something totally different. Well done Eddie...
I would have never thought back in the early 90's rockin out to Pearl Jam, that I would someday years later get goosebumps from someone playing the ukelele. AND that Eddie Vedder would be the one playing it. Sometimes getting older is a good thing. :)
@dirty7black7boy7 Whatever, I don't want to start an immature little comment war, because you seem like one of those types of people that enjoy pissing off everyone at a good place. Just listen to the beautiful song and stop being an antagonizing person.
@CollaborationSeries How about you eat shit and drive your smart car back to starbucks to buy another $5 coffee, you pretentious douchebag. Oh you heard music in starbucks? Guess what, nobody gives a shit. starbucks sucks and so do the people that buy their product, ie. YOU.
Ed rocks, but I would have loved to have heard some of these with all of Pearl Jam.
A guy on here covered one of Ed's ukulele songs with a full band, and recorded it. Just type "13inlet You're True" in youtube search. Pretty good stuff, wish PJ did it.
Just when I dont think he can do it again he does. Eddie has an amazing talent, and he is an awesome human being who has done so much for people and our soldiers. Amazing song!!
@housedubs Umm lets see jake shimabukuro, maybe matt dalhberg, aldrine guerrero..they all could easily do that.. jake has done it like 12 times and aldrine has made like 2 uke albums
Every since the early days with Pearl Jam I always knew Vedder was a true artist. "Into the Wild" and now "Ukulele Songs"...wow his music is beautiful and he constantly delivers. The world is a better place with people like Eddie Vedder. Cheers!

@danjohnson626 Actually, Eddie has a ukulele song on one of Pearl Jam's studio albums, Binaural, which was released in 2000. He plays the song with some regularity at PJ concerts/festivals. The song is called "Soon Forget", and there are several concert versions of it here on YouTube. It's a fun song to watch on YouTube because half the time he messes up this song...and it's always fun to hear what he says when that happens. Good song! And Ed is awesome!
@danjohnson626 Glad to be of help! There is one version of Soon Forget on here, in fact (I think it might be a Reading Festival clip) where Ed plays a verse of Black Sabbath's Iron Man on the ukulele as well. Great stuff! Here! I just went and looked in my playlist and the name of the clip is "Eddie Vedder Reading Festival 2007 Ukulele" Only I think the person spelled 'ukulele' wrong and put "ukelele". Give it a go. @Nirvana451994Cobain Yep. All the guys in Pearl Jam have done side projects over the years. This is actually Eddie's second album - he did the soundtrack for "Into The Wild" on his own without Pearl Jam also. Pearl Jam is still going strong - in fact, they are releasing all kinds of stuff this year in honor of their 20th anniversary.
And that's fine. I happen to live in a country where I can say something like that and we disagree. I've never liked Eddie Vedder or Pearl Jam for that matter. Fly by night music with no staying power.
@ThePanamaBob wow so is that coming from someone who has no record deal or has been in the music business for oh I don't know say 19 years or who has millions of fans....hmmmmmm well kind sir for the rest of us that can really enjoy great music we will keep listening and for you well you just keep listening to ...whatever it is you listen to
