  • I dont mean to b mean but..

    Mac fanboy

    Linux ftw

  • @cpukid00 can i run it on a dh55tc motherboard and a qori cpu case with a 350W PSU or should i change the cabinet? Im not much of a computer person. So plz let me know

  • cpukid upgrading gpu lol

  • can i run XFX 6850 on 500 W coolermaster PSU ? answear fast pls

  • @ABaNjaProduction That should be fine.

  • @ABaNjaProduction thank you for your fast replay :) LIKE

  • Hello, i have 460 watt power, and this AMD card requires 450 watt will it be enough or do i need to buy another power generater? Respond fast plz

  • @Camel23465 You'll be able to power the card, but depending on what other hardware you have, I'd consider getting a 600W+ power supply to have some room.

  • did you have to install any driver or was it a plug in and play?

  • @ruffino77022 As long as you're using the Chimera boot loader, it's plug and play. If you're installing it for use in Windows, you'll need drivers from the included CD or from their site.

  • @cpukid00 thank you for your reply. Just made my first build and everything went smoothly.

  • Wait so if i have a 500 w power supply i can just put 2 6850 in crossfire? XD

And your case isn't tidy but you do have some cablemanagment holes you know?

  • @KillTheCreeper You'll probably need a more powerful power supply for a crossfire configuration with this card. That's cutting it pretty close. If you plan on doing this in a hackintosh configuration, then you'll need to research to ensure compatibility.

  • quick question.

i'm getting this graphics card tomorrow, and i was wondering if I should get an adapter to connect to the card and then run a cable to connect my card to my monitor?

or will it be fine if I just install it and don't connect it to my monitor?

I bought the adapter today, but i forgot to buy the cable, so i was wondering what's better?

  • @brysonisSXE If you dont connect it to the monitor, then nothing will show up on-screen.

  • @cpukid00 : Hi, i would like to know if this card fits in a normal case. Because i am looking at this card and i can see that the panel with the DVI is wider. So i want to know if it will fit behind my case, because i have one opening in the case panel behind. Sorry for bad english.Thank you

  • hi u used the monitor Asus VS 238H 23'' ? it look better

  • very good guide, thanks for uploading it.

  • omg u got the coolermaster 690 II Advanced IM GETTTING THAT ONE!!! ITS SOO SEXY!

  • Is the 6870 worth the little extra money for what it gives? or should i get the 6850?

  • @Masterincommander I believe the 6870 may support 3 displays a little easier, but I'm not sure about how much better the tech specs are. You'd have to research a little bit.

  • Do this card works in a Mac Pro 1.1?

  • @vajksziget7a I would want to sell that mac and get a proper gaming iOS.

  • @NoConfliction iOS? XDDD Are you kidding me? I use my mac for work and little gaming.

iOS has no real desktop games for it. My Mac Pro is freaking fast with my HD 6770 and 4 gigs of ram. I can run every game in high settings. And it does not lag. Also i already have an iPad and a iPhone. Im perfectly fine with my Mac Pro.

  • what kext are you using to run the card ?? i bought the exact same card as you and i need to know, plz reply .

  • @bratface90210 No kexts are needed, this card is natively supported as long as you're using the Chimera boot loader.

  • @cpukid00 i installed 10.6.3 then updated to 10.6.8 with multibeast and it wont boot ... ?

  • @cpukid00 Hi! I just want to know if this video card fits in a basic case and if a 450W source is sufficient? The motherboard is also from Gigabyte and it's the one from Inter Core i3, i5, i7 so i guess there's not a problem with this. Can you help me please?

  • @at0micmushroom I believe 450W is the minimum requirement for this card. As far as the case and motherboard, you should be fine.

  • @cpukid00 Thanks, really appreciate because you answered me. One more question if you don't mind. What's the difference between Sapphire HD 6850 and Gigabyte HD 6850, I mean, basically they are same cards, only manufacturers are different. The price is very similar. Some say that Sapphire are best manufacturer and others it doesn't matter the manufacturer unless it's no-name.

  • @at0micmushroom There's only subtle differences between the cards. They use the same GPU, but some cards might not work as well as others due to the default frame buffers. Luckily, Chimera can take care of most of this. Just do your research before buying. I have no experience with Sapphire, but I've heard good things.

  • @cpukid00 I'm going with Gigabyte, thanks for advices.

  • Do both of the DVI's work on your hackintosh? I want to get one for a dual monitor hackitosh setup.

  • @MXR789 No, only the top DVI works. However, you can get the Displayport and the HDMI to work along with the top DVI if you want to dual display.

  • @cpukid00 Thanks for responding so fast, I am probably going to get another HDMI to DVI adapter from monoprice then. (you earned a subscriber)

  • @MXR789 That would work. However, keep in mind that if you go with the HDMI then you'll need to change your default frame buffer to use HDMI in OS X. This isn't hard, but you have to know how to do it. If you get a Displayport to DVI cable/converter, then this won't be necessary. Thanks for subscribing!

  • @cpukid00 Oh, in that case I will probably get a display port to DVI as I will use the top DVI for my main display. I assume I will get 1920 by 1080 through both connections. Thanks for your help.

  • @MXR789 Yup, you'll get 1920x1080 with both cables as long as your monitor supports it.

  • the old gpu is looking better

  • @sweyouknow I like the design of the new GPU. It also stays cooler.

  • kinda

  • great video and awesome intro but its a kitle long but who cares =)

  • nice vid, i just built a compputer a few minutes ago, and i cant seem to get the video card working. I would try without it, but thats the only output to the screen... I have doen everything in the video starting from putting the video card in(and plugging it in) but the fans will not even turn on. any ideas?

  • @molma100 You might not have a powerful enough power supply.

  • We have the same case and card, except i got the HIS Radeon 6850

  • how many wats is your power supply on your computer.

  • does this need a pci-e connector?

  • Comment removed

  • Thanks for your video. I've built my first hackintosh and it's not running... I can't even get to the BIOS screen. So I've been troubleshooting for a little while now. I definitely installed my 6850 properly, the fans are working and everything. And the motherboard itself only turns on for a few seconds and then shuts off. I've ruled out everything else. It's either a bad motherboard or power supply.

  • i buy an gigabyte hd 6850 and i almost fuck it up because i dont know how to replace it can you help me?????

  • you can use you old card too. make a physx mod for using physx on your gefore 9000 series

  • Nice video, I'm going to upgrade to this card at christmas, I'm ATI at the moment and I'm planing on keeping with ATI and, would it just boot normally because I'm putting another ati card it or will I have to do the thing you were saying about because you have moved to ati from Nivda?

Doesn't really make sence but =L

    Subbed =)

  • @GungraveZ1 It would all depend on your bootloader and/or any kexts that you use to get your current ATI card booting. I don't believe you need any kexts with ATI cards, as most should work as long as GE=Yes in your boot.plist. If I were you, I'd install the Chimera bootloader on your system now, see how your card performs, and once you get it working, then you won't have any work to do to upgrade to this card. You will be able to install the card and enjoy.

  • @cpukid00 question..is this card good? i mean by the quality speed, and customer service? also will it fit in my small 17 cm width 41.0 dimension and around 30 hight

  • On AMD's website it says that two "75W 6-pin PCI Express power connectors" are recommended and I saw you only plug in one power connecter. I'm pretty clueless about this stuff, but you only plugged in one. Or is that one you plugged in not the PCI express?

  • @xxgg55 It depends on the model/manufacturer. Gigabyte 6850 only requires 1 75w 6 pin PCI-E power connector.

  • Wat's the minimum power requirement??

  • @tousif2001 I believe you need 450 Watts.

  • @cpukid00 Thnx pal!

  • im considering buying this card but will hdmi works? my only monitor is the tv so I needs the audio too.

  • do you know the length of the card? I can't find it on any sites...

  • I was considering buying a GTX 560 TI for a future hackintosh untl I saw your unboxing of this video card. I really want to get the 6850, but I have 2 questions: 1. do hackintoshes support this card using tonymacs86's method or do you have to modify kexts and other stuff? 2. could you PLEASE post a video on how to remodify the drivers, or basically how to switch from a card to another? you got my subscription bud, keep up the good work. literally my favourite hackintosher on youtube :)

  • @TwoPlusFourIsSe7en Thanks for the kind words! This card requires absolutely no modifications to kexts. As long as you have Chimera installed and your GE=Yes in your boot.plist, this card works out of the box!

  • @cpukid00 alright, thank you for the quick reply!!

  • Really? Wow. So Chameleon will not work? Can I just install Chimera from multibeast now or must I reinstall OS X? Sorry for the bother Bud, its just that I spent a whole weekend trying to get my previous 5770 to work. Never happened :(

  • @nvanadium You don't have to reinstall; me having to was a special case. Simply run MultiBeast, Change GE back to Yes, and reboot. Keep in mind you can only use the top DVI and the Displayport.

  • @cpukid00 Thanks for the quick replies man. Going to give it a whirl right now as soon as I'm done backing up. Can't wait to boot into Windows and play Battlefield 3 with this new card : )

  • @nvanadium Nice! Enjoy; the card gets a 7.7 in Windows Experience Index ;)

  • @cpukid00 I have a hd 6670 , and i am i planning on replacing that with the card you just got the 6850 . Will i have to do anything other switch it over. As in will i have to reinstall windows 7 or get a display port cable ? Thanks :D hopefully it will work right out of the box :D

  • @divenutslincoln If you run a hackintosh with dual monitors, then you'll need a displayport cable. If you have a hackintosh, you might need to do a restore based on the card before the upgrade, as well as the bootloader you're using. Since you had a 6670, you should be good to go as long as you have Chimera installed and have GE=Yes in your boot.plist.

  • Hey there. I just popped in my new 6850 in to my hackintosh. I had to type GraphicsEnabler=No To get it to show display. You said that you need to do a reinstall. What mutibeast options do I need to put to get this to run fully?

  • @nvanadium None! Set your GE=Yes and install the Chimera boot loader and you're good to go.

  • pfft.. ha! Macintosh...

  • hey can this graphic card run...lets say gta IV on high or Crysis 2??

  • @oskolic Try looking on YouTube for AMD Radeon HD 6850 GTA IV or Crysis 2. I'm sure people have done videos on it. Personally I haven't tried those games, but I can imagine this card can run them pretty close to, if not maxed out.

  • @oskolic i have the card and it can run GTA4 smoothly, but i'm not sure if u are like me who has a Phenom X6, cos CPU performance makes a difference in gaming

  • @kevynspeed i know so would you mind telling me your pc specs?

  • @oskolic AMD Phenom X6, Sapphire Radeon HD 6850, 8G RAM, Gigabyte motherboard

  • Hey ive tried to instal this card on my computer and it doesnt seem to work, maybe im missing somthing (my first computer built) but ive tried two of them, neither worked... at least i think. I installed them properly but when i start up my system nothing happens, i get no signal to my monitor and the fans on the cards dont spin, are both of the cards defective or is something else up?

  • @loubra20 How many watts is your power supply?

  • @loubra20 did you plug it into the power supply

  • :) Play some DiRT 3 cpukid to test your new Card :) I could play online with you using my Genuine iMac.

  • @djdavedoc I don't have that game, unfortunately. I'm also too broke to buy it haha.

  • can you give me information of everything in your case(RAM, motherboard...)

  • @CompTutts Have a look at my channel.

  • @LKZPrivat No problem ^^

I got some other videos about Hackintosh, you can check them out too... Maybe they help you :D

  • @LKZPrivat Yes, you need to boot from your hard drive if you want full performance. Hard drives are much faster than USB drives. The boot loader must be on a hard drive if you want to get your systems full potential.

  • you say go ahead a LOT.

  • @ZaterMartian3 I've noticed that, lol. I'm not sure why, it's just how I talk.

  • @cpukid00 lol, it's cool, though

  • I think you should go ahead and go ahead and go ahead and go ahead

  • @BallawdeQuincewold I probably will.

  • How is the NVidia 9800 GTX+ for gaming?

  • @BrettsiPodHelp It's average. I can play older games on ver high settings, but if you want a gaming system then I recommend spending closer to $200. The 6850 I just bought would be a great gaming card.

  • @LKZPrivat I made a video on how to get iBoot functionatlity with MultiBeast, go check it out on my channel! Worked for my Nvidia Geforce GT220.

  • what cpu cooler do you have?

  • @supersmashbrosv2 I have the Scythe Mugen 2 rev. B.

  • @cpukid00 thanks,is it any good?

  • i like the screw music lol

  • Have you considered unlocking the card to a 6870? It shouldn't be a problem with the cooler.

  • @techkidguru I don't really have a need to. I'm not a gamer, and this card works great with editing and running dual displays. So I guess "Don't fix what isn't broken." ;)

  • @techkidguru Fair enough. Love your setup by the way. Might look at building a Z68 based hackintosh soon myself

  • @LKZPrivat Boot from the iBoot CD and open up your boot.plist in your /Extra folder. Find the string that says GeaphicsEnabler and chance Yes to No. See if that helps.

  • Awesome video!

  • @DeviceTutorials Thanks for watching!

  • Great Video

  • it got eye of infintey 3 to 6 screen game play
