@LeconsdAnalyse No, this simply isn't the original arrangement from the late 60's that most of us are familiar with. You will note that this arrangement is being playied in the same key as the original version (if this recording had been sped up or slowed down, this would not be the case). Also some of the phrasing at several different levels has been changed and some different instrument timbres have been selected, some more obvious, some more subtle.

As a teener, I cried to this piece, now at 58 I still cry with strong emotions. This has touched my core being in as much as the poet John Keats and his "ODES". I have been inspired to dig out the music and play again after 29 years. This song had been on my radio every day when I was in Hong Kong in the late 1960s just before I came to US to study. This version by Paul Muriat is really wonderful. I doesn't lack the art of instrumentation that seem to be lost nowadays. You can hear superb musical lines played by the violins, the harpsichord and the oboe. It's a little bit like a dialogue. That's it what I call music.

i was 14 in 1971. had very severe back surgery. A few songs stuck in my mind that were on the lousy am radio at the hospital. Love is Blue was one of them. Comparing versions, the original seems to have been the one I heard. Maybe it was re released in 1971

Yes, there were many. I don't remember the name of the gal who sang it in the Eurovision contest, but the original Paul Mariat version (which I am referring to above) was the big hit. Also, I think Sinatra sang it. I just don't like the "updated" version.

Vicky Leandros sang it in French: L'amor Est Bleu (Love is Blue). Another popular version is by Richard Clayderman but Paul Mauriat's version is the best!!!

I first heard this beautiful music on holiday in Rio de Janeiro in my teens over 20 years ago. Played on the piano by Richard Clayderman the shop owner wouldn't sell me his tape until I literally begged him. Wonderful memories !
