Seems to me they started with the pop songs, not because they're the most relevant to musical theatre, but to judging adaptability. Also, it seemed that they were trying to turn this show into a CBC Version of "Canadian Idol"....At an actual professional festival, they would give them more constructive criticism, highlighting the positives of the performances, but where it can be improved. I just don't see the judges doing that, since they said nothing bad about one person, but then all negative
Listen, it is good as a performer on stage to be able to sing different types of song. There is a musical theatre number which also has opera, pop and jazz singing in the number. These songs have been chosen for a reason.
I undersand your complaint, but the judges are professionals, they know what they are doing, and in the three British series, the contestant who did win, should have won in my opinion. XD
1. WTF are the producers doing choosing a Bjork song? what was that about? All the shusshing. Not just weird but, worse, irrelevant to the casting. How does that help her case?
2. Both these talented girls did the best with awful song impositions (they don't choose them).
3. Are the "judges" a waste of space here? Where is the intelligent critique? the feedback? things to work on? Or do they think these song choices are so stupid that there's little that's relevant to the casting to say?
The three British series all chose the wrong song types. Instead of musical numbers or jazz/blues, they gave the contesters pop songs; this makes everyone vote for the best pop star, not musical theatre performance. I got so annoyed about this.
very effective

She has a really good voice, possibly one of the best in the bunch, but this type of song seems totally wrong for a musical theatre competition.
