This is after the fact, but in 2004 I worked for the Doubletree, a Hilton corporation. I was let go after working under deplorable conditions, and my last paycheck was not given to me. I figure this happened to all employees who left, Doubletree has money owed to me. I am still waiting. So much for our rights.
I don't understand. If I own a little diner and I employ 8 waitresses, obviously the money to pay them has to come from somewhere. If I have to pay them more either it's coming from my pocket, I'm tacking it on to prices, or I'm firing a couple waitresses.

Yeah, let's bring back slavery, that will legalize this practice. That is to say, slavery for anyone who is below the poverty line. We already have slave labor in prisons, where nonviolent minority offenders are put and set to work producing profits for the private prison system. We already have slavery in the workplace, where wages have not kept pace with inflation and the new norm is to make the employees feel "well at least you HAVE a job" while the boss takes home a nice bonus.
I mean, then there will be less jobs for people. Obviously I'm not talking about the actual cases of true theft in the video, I'm talking about the cases of low pay.
@Apeneck0 If you haven't looked around lately, there are far more people seeking jobs then there are jobs for them. If you have to work to support yourself and your family, and all you can get are low end jobs, you usually have no choice but to put up with this illegal treatment. This is especially true in states with weaker worker's rights laws.
