  • @afghanmanyeah well Cherokees (Jeeps) have a long history and its hard to compete with that, but Isuzu Trooper reliability is well known.they are very well built. The 2.3 gas engine is stout, and the 2.2 Diesel can out last any cherokee 4.0

  • I have a '94 Isuzu Trooper. ('94 Trooper was larger model than this one.) Had it since '98. It's aged, a little worn, a little rust, but NEVER EVER fails to start! 200K miles and just keeps going! Got a sign in it's wondow that reads "NOT FOR SALE"!

  • Isuzu Trooper

    Use only directed

  • 250,000 miles and my trooper is still running like brand-new!!!

  • This guy was so annoying!

  • i would much rather have a trooper than an unreliable jeep plus i think they look baddass

  • I remember that one. :)

  • That's the guy from Empty Nest isn't it?

  • Yes it is.

  • Well, Joe Isuzu is a white American who shills Japanese junk. The Benedict Arnold of the automotive world.

  • And how do you feel about Walmart where half of every dollar spent on non food items is for good manufactured in China?

  • @kcthatsawinner Oh shut up with the race crap, you idiot! What a complete loser you musat be. If you don't like Joe, tyhen fine..you don't like him...;Stop pointing out skin color. You racist puke!

  • ive got a 90 trooper but every time i see another one like mine it says trooper 2 is mine missing the 2 or did they make some that just said trooper

  • the earlier troopers that were made were called TroopeII's.

after 1990 and up it was just called trooper

i dont know why they did this

  • Isuzu wanted to bypass a tariff on SUVs by having dealers install the rear seats at the dealership, so they had to create a new model called "Trooper II"

  • I remember this commercial! Great stuff.

  • I have a 95 Trooper S, I wouldnt trade it for anything. Nothing super special about it but it has almost 150K on it and it still will plow right through 2 feet of snow or pull someone out of a ditch without breaking a sweat. =)

  • did David Leisure come up with the idea as well ?????

  • Axiom was the ugliest Vehicle that year in 2001 next to the Pontiac Aztec..Both cars were the begining of the end for those Companies

  • fuck u

  • Right back at ya Buddy

  • well in your other comment you said that isuzu sold cars that no one wanted yet people have asked my mother a bunch of times what her axiom is and said that they wanted to buy one

  • Well I guess there wasn't enough of those people I guess huh??? Other wise the sales of Axioms wouldnt have been a Big Dissapointment for Isuzu, and Isuzu would still have a Presence in this country

  • they did not advertise as much as they needed to and its not isuzus fault that gm killed all of the cars that izusu had

  • @fgulla007

    I don't think so,although i respect your opinion.

I drive an 1999 isuzu vehicross, the most outstanding and trully crossover ever made.

Every time i see some one driving an axiom i ask them if they happy with their ride.

Every single answer is YES,they do.

The axiom is just another suv that looks different and that's why they stand aside from the rest of the vehicules.

And for the records, the 2004 axiom is the 1rst vehicule sold with the direct injectio n engine in the US market

  • ive got a 1990 trooper winter mode button and power button 4x4 auto trans 184 thou still runs fine

  • Series I troopers were nice but when the MkII came along things were not quite as nice-the new model gained a horrible heater linked ventilation and aircon system;you couldn't get coolair at full heat settings thru the facia vents while heating and/or demisting and when airconditioning was engaged and temp control was set mid-high the vents emitted warm stuffy airconditioned air.

  • I own a vehicross from 1999 with 43.000 K & never had an pennie problem with my truck ever since,my boss bought an jeep cherokee SRT-8 & two weeks later he had to return the truck with a blowing trans jajajajaja that's a junk

  • @Gussie2005 good ol chrysler reliability

  • As someone who has driven a lot of Daimler-Chrysler and more Isuzus, it's not the starting bit, it's the having a transmission worth anything bit. There's a reason Isuzu is still around.

  • Umm Isuzu is no longer in the U.S.A

  • The US is one of the most useless markets in the world for automakers.

#1. Bad economy = Low sales overall

#2. Americans (tend to) buy junky cars

Isuzu has owned the medium duty segment for years and continues to do so, even in the US. They just stopped selling light-duty stuff. The Isuzus sold in Asia were always better, anyway. Americans and their gasoline...

  • I sold Isuzu Nice Vehicles in terms of reliability but lacks in driving and tons of plastic, but Crappy Sales..isuzu the Past 10 YRS was Crap as a Company

  • That's because they only sold trucks (recently). Body-on-frame vehicles will never handle like cars. The Axiom was close. (Damn close... I test-drove one...) I personally prefer plastic when done properly. Lowers price AND "fails gracefully". No rust. No dents. Waterproof. What's not to love? I think the sales issue began as the fact that their target market was shrinking. When large crossovers became available, it was the end. They clung on with GM, but GM is an immoral and stupid company.

  • The last comment is targeted to the GM of the nineties and early 2000s. I feel they are doing much better now. (It was still stupid to kill off the GMT-360 line. That's like Porsche abandoning sports cars.)

  • Test drove but did you buy it?? The Axiom was the Begining of the End for the Company they were losing money then they stopped Advertising and were Banking in on just Internet Advertising..I sold these cars and couldnt stand the company b/c they werent building vehicles that people wanted...The Grand cherokee is 100x nicer Vehicle than the Isuzu's were and Drove better and Handled...isuzu back in the Early 90's banked on the 4x4's and as time went on they couldnt keep up w/the Competition

  • The Axiom didn't sell because it was a car-like truck where the public overall wanted a truck-like car. However, that's not what past Isuzu owners wanted. They had a niche. They filled it. The Axiom and the Grand Cherokee aren't the same demographic. What killed the company was when the Trooper broke $30k MSRP. (BTW, I came back and bought an Ascender. God, I wanted an '07 Trooper, though...)

  • GAWD! Gotta love that grin!

  • Plus, the Trooper will start when you need it to, The Cherokee won't!

  • lol

  • Yeah!! Woooo!

  • Really?

Our Cherokee has 334,000+ Miles on it and has never failed to start.

Our old Trooper is sitting in the scrap yard burnt to crisp from a fire that was started by the starter ignition wire it really failed to start. "FLAMES FASTER THAN A SPEEDING 'clink' WELL, YOU KNOW"

  • Lol O well Troopers are truthfully better.

  • Make sure that your Isuzu is Isuzu powered.

Case in point: 3.1L V-6 used in late-90s Rodeos and Troopers.
