from what I've seen of these secular conventions, they're really not that interesting to watch, it just seems to be people expressing exasperation at the stupidity of theists (like we haven't heard enough of that), and telling stupid jokes and anecdotes. I'm sure they have some fun activities and it's great to meet and talk to like minded people in person, but I wish they would use these opportunities more to organize political action on behalf of secularism, humanism, science and education.
