  • I always enjoy Bert's looking for his "How to Fly a Helicopter" book. Shouldn't be airborne without one :-)

  • First aired Jan 17th, in '75 huh? 3 days after my 5th birthday, LOL. Yeah I remember this and I'd like to see the video too.

  • I loved this as a kid. I wish it had been a bonus feature of the Old School Sesame Street DVDs. Glad to know I'm not the only one that loved this. Video would have been amazing, but it's great to at least hear the audio. Thanks for posting!!!

  • @CliveO1515 : Amen. Judging by what some older fans have said about the sketch, I wish they'd included it in "40 Years of Sunny Days!

  • OMG! I remember seeing this skit as a child and it remains one of the Holy Grails of Sesame Street. Just hearing the audio made me verklempt and happy! Please, please, PLEASE someone find the clip of this. The physical comedy of Maria and Frank Oz as Bert against the "projection" is hilarious.

  • I hope you can get the scene

  • @wallyca10

He didn't really mean it, he was just upset over being upside down. And I bet he did apologize to Maria afterward, Bert is very polite.

  • please post the scence so we all can see it

  • i would like that too

  • Hey, that's my tape! :) Thanks for sharing it via YouTube. It's one of my favorite "lost" skits that I hope we see again one day.

  • Oo, will anybody ever find the video to this?

The voices alone convey so much, I remember Maria and Bert flying, going upside down, thru the clouds, etc. Interesting that it's the usually dull Bert do all the imaginary flying this time. Poor Maria! She's a pretty good sport for all Bert puts her thru.

  • I SWear I rEMember THe SKit, aS WeLL!

  • Very nice.

  • Even listening to the audio still makes me laugh. One of the funniest skits ever recorded for this show, simply because of the free-flowing dialogue between Sonia Manzano and Frank Oz. Sonia as Maria effectively captured that element of fear when confronted by the trees, cloud, telephone wires and hanging upside-down while Frank as Bert just seemed for the most part totally impervious to what was around him!
