okay EVERY ONE LISTEN UP: to get it in to disk mode press the menu and the center button then exactally when it shuts off you must be quick press the center button and play/pause button you must be fast and it will say ok to disconnect is also must be connected to your computer via the usb cord..

TO RESET YOUR IPOD

press and hold MENU and CENTER till it shuts down and then the apple will show up with no light in the background.

TO GO TO DISK MODE

as soon as the apple shows up from RESETTING(look up) -

press and hold CENTER and PLAY button till it says DISKMODE on top

TO GO TO DIAGNOSTICS

after the apple shows up from RESETTING

press and hold BACK(or REWIND) and CENTER till the screen changes.

i dont know if you want to do this the hard way or not but if u want to fix this you have to open up the ipod and push in the conection between the hard drive and the circuite board, i have done this with my ipod video and now it works fine the conection just brock between the 2

To fix your iPod's you have to hold your select button and Menu button to restart it.. If it shows an apple plug your usb and it will work. If it doesnt work ask more questions to me.

well i have fireware v1.3 and it wont read the ipod at all, same for itunes. i uninstalled itunes and reinstalled it an that wasnt it either. when i plug in my ipod to the computer it detects that it is there but it doesnt say ipod connected, it just says "saftly remove hardware" and i go to "my computer" and it says "remove disk (H:)" instead of "IPOD".
