Why is it every time Food and Africa are mentioned in the same sentence it is always accompanied by images of starving women and children? There are countries in Africa with the capacity and potential not only to feed themselves but the entire continent and this insistence on exclusive use of such images i feel is dangerously misleading.

Ethanol does not need a specific grain, it can be produced in a very wide way. Global food issues are linked but not to a profound extent.

I think we have all learned what folly it is to directly feed any nation. Let that nation learn to feed itself. Provide the tools but let the work be done locally. Africa is a classic example. Let Africa feed Africa. Providing the tools is appropriate; any more is foolish. STOP & learn from the past! NO more "charity"; , it is not productive to that nation.

1. Al Jazeera's anchorman repeatedly offering a answer to every question he poses

2. The Body Mass Index(BMI) of the man in the video icon clearly hovers near 40, while a person of normal weight has a BMI around 23 or so.

You get used to it also. Check the price of a gallon of milk? You will see more local produce. No more Chilian fruit or Orange Roughy from New Zealand. Local only. Food shortage is in US and will get worst

People eat too much as it is. I eat too much as it is. I think higher food prices are a good thing.

I work, and I work hard. Whatever food prices are I will buy them. The problem is with countries economically disabled by corruption, and ones that don't have a consistent economic ideology. Their people can't afford food because they've created no securities as to how far their regime can go to restrict business, creating fear of industry; which is essentially a fear of being productive.

One of the biggest problems with NAFTA was that countries like Mexico were forced to take down their tariffs and the price of corn went below what it cost Mexican farmers to produce it. As a result many corn based rural economies collapsed. Anyhow, this video isn't talking about the price of corn. Ethanol has used up so much more farm land that less wheat is being grown, and many farming economies have already been adversely affected by the free market.

He did not mention the huge food exports now going to China. It is supply and demand. We buy more of the goods from China and they buy more food to feed the 1 Billion + population.

As the Chinese population earns more money they buy more food. Someone else is going to see less food aid as this continues. Pressure needs to be put on Communist China to produce more food for themselves. As we know, Communists are never able to produce enough food to feed themselves.

The whole world is behind the nuclear weapons, and development of science and technology nobody is interested in cultivation. in fact wants to be powerful militarily and wants live a lavish life for them selves, human beings are born in todays world but the humanity has died a long back itself,on one side the so called super powers are intrested in political issues not hte social issues.
