@Shlaff Sure - it was one of the Vox models (I think the AC15) with the gain up a bit over half and the treble and mids boosted a touch. I remember that I had the amp up loud, which adds some richness to the sound. I probably used some reverb from the amp. Nothing very tricky! Hope that helps - feel free to reply if you can't get a good sound happening.
Heres just some of the pro Guitarist who also play Epiphone Les pauls And SG's. ZAKK Wylde-SLASH-JOE BONAMASSA-LES PAUL-ALEX LIFESON (Rush) NANCY WILSON (Hart) JOHN LEE HOOKER-JACK CASSADY (JEFFERSON AIRPLANE) and alot more. Epi's are amazing!
I saw les paul himself play live back in 2007 in new york city. That night he played a Epiphone plain top les paul. Along with two other Epiphone Les pauls. That night he was flawless at 92 . What a legend!
@IbanezShredz55 Yep, the Vox has a good range of sounds and would cover it (although, for heavier stuff, the 1x12 isn't going to have the size/power that a half-stack would have).
To be honest, these days, I use AmpKit on the iPad the most.
@hutchfromba Thanks - yeah, it sounds fine for that. I have a few amps - all better at some things than others, but the Vox does a decent job on a wide range of sounds, plus it's lightweight.
les pauls are fuckin amazing but can anyone tell me how to get the pick guard off,,i got an epi les paul standard in sun burst and i wanna take off the pickguard

this is my first electric but I've played acoustic for a while
My budget is 500$ My current set up thought is Ephiphone Les Paul $300
line 6 spyder 15w $99 case: $71 Wire: $12that makes $490 so the rest I figure for strings, cleaning equipment like string cleaner. Then a little later, some effects. I was looking at strats too but can only get squier strats which gives me room for effects and maybe a better amp help plz
Nice, man! I just got my brand new Epiphone Les Paul Standard Sunburst, and a Vox Valvetronix AD30VT. Before that, I was using a Wal-Mart guitar with a Wal-Mart amp, since my Mann Les Paul style guitar broke.
@ibek1200 Thanks very much - it's a really basic setup - Vox AC15 or AC30 model, with medium gain, a little low boost and a little high boost. I think the main amp volume was probably at 7 or 8. Nothing fancy. Thanks again for the compliment on the tone. - Mike
@Forgivenick I don't remember the exact settings, but it was one of the Vox models, and everything else is really basic, up about 50% of the way. Probably a little touch of low end and gain up just a bit over half. Guitar is full up on volume with tones probably around 7 or so. Hope that helps!
@mikec717 Im thinking about buying a semi hollow epiphone les paul from best buy for 350, is this a good deal? I mainly want to play acoustic songs, so is there a good amp that plays both electric and acoustic songs for around 100 bucks? Also how does playing a semi hollow without an amp sound and are there any videos showing this?
Hi is it Epiphone Les Paul Standard or Standard Plus model? Im asking because Im thinking about getting one for myself and I like the sound of yours. Thnx
Hi man I've got the same as you ! same guitar and same amp! but on neck pick up the sound go so crappy how ever I set the guitar up..do you have the same problem ?

I bought one 2-3 months ago, and I don't have any tuning problems or other problems and the sound is damn good too. In my opinion it's a veery good guitar, you can buy it, I'd recommend it. :P
youcan't by them firdt hand any more but if you want an epi, get an elitist! i have one and ahave hade it for 2 years now and havn't had any problems whatsoever. i have heard that the normalones have tuning problems and that the strings can get caught under the frets. u cud propabley get an elitist for around 250 to 450 second hand depending on what model you want.
i had a valvetronix, the cleanness of the sound was terrible now though with a 50 watt peavey valveking its soo much better. ive got that guitar dude but in plus top the honeyburst is much a nice colour :)
hey dude I own this same amp but ive had it for 2 years, do u know if it needs a tube replacement or any other maintenance?? because i think it is starting to sound kind of shit

Thanks - they're pretty nice guitars, especially for a few hundred bucks. I have a couple of other Epi videos up (a G400 and a Wildkat) for comparison. - Mike
COSM did a great job emulating, but it was still emulating. Micing is probably better if you do it right, and we all know a modeler is no replacement for a good head.
I didn't do a comparison with the models in the BR600, but I think the Valvetronix, on the whole, sounds a bit better than the BR600. I like the feel of playing through an amp better, which is why I set it up this way. My wife and kids were away, so I was able to get the room moving a bit!
Your one lucky person, I tried those out at Samash, They are sure great guitars! To bad the Elitist line was Discontinued. I wish they bring them Back. I wonder why that happened?
it's very heavy. I had it for a while and I started having back problems so I got a strat. I now only use it from time to time, but strat is my main guitar.
If you have back problems, but you still want that Les Paul tone I would recommend paying slightly more for the Les Paul Ultra, which is chambered and is therefore lighter.
do you mind telling me what amp settings you have? i have that exact same guitar (color n everything, i love it) and a vox valvetronix advt30, so thats very similar, and i'd like to get that tone.
Sure, it's a pretty straightforward setup - guitar is volume full up, tone around 6-7, bridge pickup. Amp is AC30 model with gain about 50%, EQs about 50%, volume full up. I was thinking slightly overdriven tone with a lot of clarity - sort of Claptionish. I hope that helps somewhat!
i think epiphones are only worth around 500-800 for les pauls. Not worth it. If you want a real guitar make sure you get the origional Gibson Les Paul or some variation of it. Epiphone is just lower quality...
Don't listen to him, it's worth it cause a Gibson LP is too expensive and these don't sound too bad. They sound awesome actually XD Mine was a standard pain top and it was only $400-500. You can get an epiphone les paul 100 and it will cost only $300
It is DEFINITELY worth it to spend four or five hundred on an Epi LP Standard. I own one and it is the best sounding guitar I've ever owned. Sounds basically like a Gibson and WAY less expensive.
It's a backing track downloaded from Guitar Center's "King of the Blues" site. They have (or used to have) 20-some mp3s there for download. Just checked, and it looks like they may have pulled them, but browse around their site and see what you find. -Mike
Hi, is there any chance you can tell me what you had all your settings set to when you did this?
I have this amp, and I can't get such a nice sound from it :/

I'm almost 41, but I'll take that as a compliment.

Ups! I'm so sorry... I didn't pay attention to your face at the begining of the video!!!
Again, well done!!!

Great playing and your sound is excellent for that sort of music. Nice phrasing and all. Congratulation.

Thanks - I was thinking Bluesbreakers-ish Clapton - the "not-really-overdriven, just running loud" sound. Glad that you liked it! -Mike

I love the honeybursts. Most beatufil guitars i've ever laid eyes on.

Very nice. Did you try this same song using the amp models in the br600? Why did you choose to mic an amp. Did it sound better?
Rickocaster 2 years ago
COSM did a great job emulating, but it was still emulating. Micing is probably better if you do it right, and we all know a modeler is no replacement for a good head.
BeuligXanderSatanPoo 2 years ago
I didn't do a comparison with the models in the BR600, but I think the Valvetronix, on the whole, sounds a bit better than the BR600. I like the feel of playing through an amp better, which is why I set it up this way. My wife and kids were away, so I was able to get the room moving a bit!

this is in the key of E ey?

It sounds very good. Don't always worry what the headstock says. I have an Epiphone Elitist Les Paul Standard that is truly great.
Johngtr13 2 years ago 2
Your one lucky person, I tried those out at Samash, They are sure great guitars! To bad the Elitist line was Discontinued. I wish they bring them Back. I wonder why that happened?

is it heavy?
i need to no cus i am gettin one of these and i have back probs
mindfreak012345 2 years ago
it's very heavy. I had it for a while and I started having back problems so I got a strat. I now only use it from time to time, but strat is my main guitar.
If you have back problems, but you still want that Les Paul tone I would recommend paying slightly more for the Les Paul Ultra, which is chambered and is therefore lighter.

That was a sweet backing track, could you send it to me by any chance :] ?
Koreanflow 2 years ago
do you mind telling me what amp settings you have? i have that exact same guitar (color n everything, i love it) and a vox valvetronix advt30, so thats very similar, and i'd like to get that tone.
fleetcommanderboob 2 years ago
Sure, it's a pretty straightforward setup - guitar is volume full up, tone around 6-7, bridge pickup. Amp is AC30 model with gain about 50%, EQs about 50%, volume full up. I was thinking slightly overdriven tone with a lot of clarity - sort of Claptionish. I hope that helps somewhat!

thank you very much :D

i owned a 95 lp100 and it was ok, but a bolt on neck on a les paul is not good. the v100 is, for the money, the best lp available. i have 3.
mistersnaredrum 2 years ago
is that a honeyburst?
jakerulezzzz 2 years ago
'Tis.
mikec717 2 years ago
But i was saying that Vintage v100 its better!
I own a v100 and epi standard so I can compare both
ChineseR0ck 2 years ago
Don't get a LP100... IMHO it sucks! Vintage V100 is better!

cindyloucrim 3 years ago
the plustop has a flamed maple finish, nice 3D stripes. the plaintop doesn't.
mistersnaredrum 3 years ago
its a veneer top though, so its not "3D2 as you say, venner is a thin layer of something that looks like flame maple over a plain piece of maple
cheesedonkey888 2 years ago
i meant "3D" lol
cheesedonkey888 2 years ago
and veneer damn spellin mistakes!
cheesedonkey888 2 years ago
it may be a veneer, but it has the optical illusion of depth as flame maple does. looks awesome. i'll do a video of mine sometime

how much was ur guitar im tempted to get 1 is it worth it
adamthecunt 3 years ago
i think epiphones are only worth around 500-800 for les pauls. Not worth it. If you want a real guitar make sure you get the origional Gibson Les Paul or some variation of it. Epiphone is just lower quality...
TehBananaGuru 3 years ago
Don't listen to him, it's worth it cause a Gibson LP is too expensive and these don't sound too bad. They sound awesome actually XD Mine was a standard pain top and it was only $400-500. You can get an epiphone les paul 100 and it will cost only $300
popomczowzow 3 years ago
It is DEFINITELY worth it to spend four or five hundred on an Epi LP Standard. I own one and it is the best sounding guitar I've ever owned. Sounds basically like a Gibson and WAY less expensive.

hi there! does anyone knows what this guy using as his accompaniment? Pls...many thanks!
bjornfaye 3 years ago
It's a backing track downloaded from Guitar Center's "King of the Blues" site. They have (or used to have) 20-some mp3s there for download. Just checked, and it looks like they may have pulled them, but browse around their site and see what you find. -Mike
