  • Hi, is there any chance you can tell me what you had all your settings set to when you did this?

I have this amp, and I can't get such a nice sound from it :/

  • @Shlaff Sure - it was one of the Vox models (I think the AC15) with the gain up a bit over half and the treble and mids boosted a touch. I remember that I had the amp up loud, which adds some richness to the sound. I probably used some reverb from the amp. Nothing very tricky! Hope that helps - feel free to reply if you can't get a good sound happening.

  • i wonder u r my neighbour, so i can lend that )

  • Heres just some of the pro Guitarist who also play Epiphone Les pauls And SG's. ZAKK Wylde-SLASH-JOE BONAMASSA-LES PAUL-ALEX LIFESON (Rush) NANCY WILSON (Hart) JOHN LEE HOOKER-JACK CASSADY (JEFFERSON AIRPLANE) and alot more. Epi's are amazing!

  • I saw les paul himself play live back in 2007 in new york city. That night he played a Epiphone plain top les paul. Along with two other Epiphone Les pauls. That night he was flawless at 92 . What a legend!

  • do you recommend this amp for someone playing blues, classic rock and metal- iron maiden, black Sabbath, pantera?

  • @IbanezShredz55 Yep, the Vox has a good range of sounds and would cover it (although, for heavier stuff, the 1x12 isn't going to have the size/power that a half-stack would have).

To be honest, these days, I use AmpKit on the iPad the most.

  • Great sound ! Do you recommend Vox Valvetronix AD50VT for a classic chicago blues sound you do you prefer a different amp ?

  • @hutchfromba Thanks - yeah, it sounds fine for that. I have a few amps - all better at some things than others, but the Vox does a decent job on a wide range of sounds, plus it's lightweight.

  • damn i hate the sound of it...too digital and absolutely no power (got one to, but will be replaced soon )

  • good guitar and great guitar playing..... keep it up...

please visit my video at youtube.com/watch?v=uEMr_57Uq1Y

    i used epiphone guitar too...

    Thanks!

  • everyone with a epiphone guitar rocks!!

  • nice songg and guitar... how much??

  • bueno !!!

  • i have one of those honeyburst too, everytime i see it my mouth waters,,,it just looks so tasty and sweet, makes me wana lick the guitar

  • @luanasuka I added the optional butter flavoring to mine. Well worth the 20 bucks Epiphone charged me.

  • @mikec717 i bought mine in japan and it already came like this so i guess got lucky !

  • les pauls are fuckin amazing but can anyone tell me how to get the pick guard off,,i got an epi les paul standard in sun burst and i wanna take off the pickguard

  • Hey Mike how you doing?

  • Great sound, beautiful Epi and great playing.

  • i got the same

  • 'Backing track heavy in G' It's one of my favorites!

  • Are you playing over a "play along track"? Nice playing by the way.

  • Nice, man! I just got my brand new Epiphone Les Paul Standard Sunburst, and a Vox Valvetronix AD30VT. Before that, I was using a Wal-Mart guitar with a Wal-Mart amp, since my Mann Les Paul style guitar broke.

  • dude, thats great

    whats the song name

    please tell me

  • Nice!

  • Nice playing, is that a Honeyburst?

  • @Hady1994 Yes, but mine's a more even gold than some I've seen.

  • @mikec717

Yeah mine is honeyburst color too and yours definitely looks more gold

  • That's one of the GC backing tracks right?

  • @Suterman Yes - I don't remember which one, but most are pretty nice. They had about 25 up on their site at one point a couple of years ago.

  • you play the right notes but

work on your subtle vibrato while playing all your notes.

hit the strings harder, work on your vibrato.

  • Great blues playing ! And I really mean it. I wonder what amp simulation you set on your Vox for this excellent tone ? Greetings.

  • @ibek1200 Thanks very much - it's a really basic setup - Vox AC15 or AC30 model, with medium gain, a little low boost and a little high boost. I think the main amp volume was probably at 7 or 8. Nothing fancy. Thanks again for the compliment on the tone. - Mike

  • can you share your valvetronix settings with us? Thanks!

  • @Forgivenick I don't remember the exact settings, but it was one of the Vox models, and everything else is really basic, up about 50% of the way. Probably a little touch of low end and gain up just a bit over half. Guitar is full up on volume with tones probably around 7 or so. Hope that helps!

  • @mikec717 Im thinking about buying a semi hollow epiphone les paul from best buy for 350, is this a good deal? I mainly want to play acoustic songs, so is there a good amp that plays both electric and acoustic songs for around 100 bucks? Also how does playing a semi hollow without an amp sound and are there any videos showing this?

  • Nice! What finish is that on your les paul?

  • Good job.

I enjoyed your playing very much.

  • @kuroneko001 Thanks!

  • great playing...you sounded good

  • nice

  • you r really good. keep rockin on the blues man.

  • Awesome vid, its inspiring for a beginning guitarist to know that his guitar can make that kind of sound with a ton of practice and dedication

  • I think i can learn a lot from this video

  • Hi is it Epiphone Les Paul Standard or Standard Plus model? Im asking because Im thinking about getting one for myself and I like the sound of yours. Thnx

  • @omotricipitale Thanks - it's a Standard plain top.

  • @mikec717 is this a honeyburst? sounds great by the way.

  • The light hitting the guitar clearly shows it's not a flatop les paul.. most likely archtop LP :)

Know your guitar man for you have a nice piece of wood there.

  • @mikec717 which is a fantastic choice for honey or tobacco! Gorgeous guitar my friend

  • @omotricipitale both sound the same, just they look different

  • nicest tone i've heard come out of an epiphone, rock on man, you sound great!

  • yeah there not too bad but the seymoures sound amazing.

  • a pair of seymour duncan pearly gates in that machine and you will be flying!

  • Yeah, at some point, I'll do some fixing on it. The stock pickups aren't bad, but they're not inspiring either.

  • @mikec717 Also, change the wiring. It's just as important as your pickups. :D

  • vox rules

  • Hi man I've got the same as you ! same guitar and same amp! but on neck pick up the sound go so crappy how ever I set the guitar up..do you have the same problem ?

  • No, the sound from the pickups is relatively consistent. One doesn't sound that much better than the other. - Mike

  • nice amp, playing is kinda bland though

  • i have a valvetrnox AD15VT

    it's brilliant!

  • good sound, 5 *

  • very George Thorogood-like tone

  • nice!

i love how us guitar players upload our videos without heads. People will think we are all beheaded haha

  • @chuecco maybe its because when someone is watching a video of a cover or something he wants to see your guitar not your face ;)

  • looks like a honeyburst

  • What type of sunburst is this guitar?

  • It is Honeyburst ^^ Got that one myself

  • hey im thinking of getting this guitar. Is there any complaints you have?

  • Got the guitar myself, only downside so far is that its heavy, and after a lot of playing u might hurt your shoulders. For the rest this guitar is great :P

  • hey nice guitar, im thinking of getting somthing simiar, what colour is this one ? cheers

    awesome blues!

  • She's a beauty ! Nice work on the vid too. Now I gotta get me a nice honeyburst back again.

  • I'm really thinking about making this my first electric. I'm kinda done with acoustic... I just love that creamy, thick Les Paul sound. And they're just so beautiful...

  • how does cable twist like that at the end please

  • you put it through the guitar strap before plugging it in...(Between the strap and guitar_

  • ok and why? is there any benefit to this

  • yh it stops you from standing on the cable when walking around, so you don't stand on it and yank it out.

  • cool thanks

  • Is that Heritage Cherry Burst or Honey burst. I am thinking about getting that guitar but I can't decide between those 2 finishes. Could Someone help me out?

  • they are both cool actually of all the les paul finishes I like the honeyburst and cherryburst the best. This is the honeyburst. I had one with EMG pickups 81 and 85 and it sounded great. wish i would have never sold it but hey they are cheap enough to snag another and sound great for the money.

  • Ive had one in Honeyburst it was very beutiful better than a one in Heritage Charry sunburst. Ive sold it too. but i think i get another one in the next weeks

  • yahhhhhhhhhh take off the pickgaurd it would look more like a gibson

  • i have no clue why someone would want to take the pickguard off! I play hard and pickguard is necessary

  • mayeb its an epiphone and he wants it to look like an epiphone gibson fan boy. anyways hamers explorer is 100 x better than gibsons

  • what is the price of this guitar ??

  • wouldnt it look much better if he took off the pickguard?

  • heh? I actually like how it looks with the pickguard. plus I tend to leave it on because I play lots of rhythm guitar stuff and sometimes I strum a bit off and would otherwise scratch the finish if it weren't there...

  • yeah.thats true.scratches arent really pretty.

i was just telling my personal opinion so no offense.

    nice playing tho

  • Very "missionary position" needs a lot more feel.

  • Hey man, same thing before, gimme this backing track and i'll post ya a video-answer ;)

  • Love this guy - keep up the excellent work - although I now know I have a long way to go to get as good as this.

  • really enjoy it man..XD!

  • Great little jam man! keep it up

  • if you like beatles music please visist my channel i play that music and visit my video in special from im a loser lead guitar please and make your comments and if you want a song in specific of the beatles tell em please

  • i have the same guitar with a vox 20 wat and you can hear it over a dummer just fine

  • great sound! I like that Epiphone :)

  • Not that I'm aware of. The 50 probably would have trouble playing against a loud drummer, so if you're going to play out, I'd probably opt for a 100 watter or I'd choose the 30w for at home use.

  • uh oh i hav a loud drummer

  • Fernando (blueszep) is a great man!

He plays very well blues and rock 'n' roll, who don't know his channel on youtube, look for...

You play very well too. It's a Epiphone Les Paul Standard Honey Burst, right?

  • Thanks - yes, the guitar I'm using is a honeyburst, although there's not that much burst to it.

  • i'm amazed that's great

  • sounds great man

  • 2:03 needs moar gurn

  • Hi i was gonna buy an epiphone les paul standard but i just wondering if they fixed the tune problem and what moore problems can i expect when i buy on of those?

    Sorry for my bad english

  • I bought one 2-3 months ago, and I don't have any tuning problems or other problems and the sound is damn good too. In my opinion it's a veery good guitar, you can buy it, I'd recommend it. :P

  • Get a Vintage V100 they are much better

  • Get it! I have a 179.99 epi les paul special II and even that is good! Go with Epi man!

  • youcan't by them firdt hand any more but if you want an epi, get an elitist! i have one and ahave hade it for 2 years now and havn't had any problems whatsoever. i have heard that the normalones have tuning problems and that the strings can get caught under the frets. u cud propabley get an elitist for around 250 to 450 second hand depending on what model you want.

  • i had a valvetronix, the cleanness of the sound was terrible now though with a 50 watt peavey valveking its soo much better. ive got that guitar dude but in plus top the honeyburst is much a nice colour :)

  • Mainly E pentatonic minor, with some major notes added. Sort of an E blues with extras!

  • does any one have tabs for this song?

  • It's just something I played over a backing track - no tabs, sorry!

  • what scale are you using??

  • it's a minor pentatonic

  • hey dude I own this same amp but ive had it for 2 years, do u know if it needs a tube replacement or any other maintenance?? because i think it is starting to sound kind of shit

  • epiphone's are eh, but valvetronix suck shit. all those artificial tube sounds. i had one, then i picked up a real fucking amp called the HOT ROD DELUXE.

  • If you are saying a Fender Hot Rod Deluxe is a better amp than a AD50VT you are smoking crack. By the way, the AD50VT is a tube amp. The amp settings are models...how the hell can it have artificial tube sounds when it is a real tube power section amp to begin with? ...you had one? I doubt that....Valvetronix's amps are the cat's ass.....ask anybody who has ever played one.

  • You are right about the AD50VT. I compared it to Fenders, Marshalls, Peaveys.... it was the best sounding amp for the price and I have never regretted buying it.

  • I have both the Deville 212 and ad120vtx and they are great amps. Its kind of comparing apples and oranges. I enjoy them both.

  • Nice amp and nice guitar :) I have same amp but 100watt version and two epi's. The custom black beauty 3 and custom alpine white

  • same ere!!!!

  • haha dude i got the same amp . . . use to have the same guitar in cherry sunburst but i traded it in for my jackson :)

  • what color is that les paul Honey Burst?

  • yea it is

  • do you like this guitar i was thinking of buying 1?

  • what song is it? or is improvitation? sorry my english

  • Yo creo que esta improvisando, solo puso una pista (backing track) de fondo

  • Very nice playing and killer tone!

  • man, i am really ignorant ..i didnt knew you could get such an amazing tone out of an epi.

i dont have money for a gibson,..a soon as my chops get better ill go for an epi.

    keep em coming.

  • Thanks - they're pretty nice guitars, especially for a few hundred bucks. I have a couple of other Epi videos up (a G400 and a Wildkat) for comparison. - Mike

  • excellent sound and excellent player

  • well done kid

  • I'm almost 41, but I'll take that as a compliment.

  • Ups! I'm so sorry... I didn't pay attention to your face at the begining of the video!!!

    Again, well done!!!

  • Great playing and your sound is excellent for that sort of music. Nice phrasing and all. Congratulation.

  • Thanks - I was thinking Bluesbreakers-ish Clapton - the "not-really-overdriven, just running loud" sound. Glad that you liked it! -Mike

  • I love the honeybursts. Most beatufil guitars i've ever laid eyes on.

  • Very nice. Did you try this same song using the amp models in the br600? Why did you choose to mic an amp. Did it sound better?

  • COSM did a great job emulating, but it was still emulating. Micing is probably better if you do it right, and we all know a modeler is no replacement for a good head.

  • I didn't do a comparison with the models in the BR600, but I think the Valvetronix, on the whole, sounds a bit better than the BR600. I like the feel of playing through an amp better, which is why I set it up this way. My wife and kids were away, so I was able to get the room moving a bit!

  • this is in the key of E ey?

  • It sounds very good. Don't always worry what the headstock says. I have an Epiphone Elitist Les Paul Standard that is truly great.

  • Your one lucky person, I tried those out at Samash, They are sure great guitars! To bad the Elitist line was Discontinued. I wish they bring them Back. I wonder why that happened?

  • ecelente

  • i would also like the tabs to this...

  • nice played!

i've got an epiphone les paul custom and a vox AD30VT, and it sounds as great as this :D

  • does the les paul standard come in white???

  • ye its a white les paul called "les paul costom alpine white" just search.

  • no the white one is the les paul custom

  • is it heavy?

i need to no cus i am gettin one of these and i have back probs

  • it's very heavy. I had it for a while and I started having back problems so I got a strat. I now only use it from time to time, but strat is my main guitar.

If you have back problems, but you still want that Les Paul tone I would recommend paying slightly more for the Les Paul Ultra, which is chambered and is therefore lighter.

  • its an honeyburst, my prefered guitar

  • What kind of sunburst has the guitar? Thanks

  • bonito blues

  • That was a sweet backing track, could you send it to me by any chance :] ?

  • do you mind telling me what amp settings you have? i have that exact same guitar (color n everything, i love it) and a vox valvetronix advt30, so thats very similar, and i'd like to get that tone.

  • Sure, it's a pretty straightforward setup - guitar is volume full up, tone around 6-7, bridge pickup. Amp is AC30 model with gain about 50%, EQs about 50%, volume full up. I was thinking slightly overdriven tone with a lot of clarity - sort of Claptionish. I hope that helps somewhat!

  • thank you very much :D

  • soo Blue :)

  • i owned a 95 lp100 and it was ok, but a bolt on neck on a les paul is not good. the v100 is, for the money, the best lp available. i have 3.

  • is that a honeyburst?

  • 'Tis.

  • But i was saying that Vintage v100 its better!

I own a v100 and epi standard so I can compare both

  • Don't get a LP100... IMHO it sucks! Vintage V100 is better!

  • love the blues

  • the plustop has a flamed maple finish, nice 3D stripes. the plaintop doesn't.

  • its a veneer top though, so its not "3D2 as you say, venner is a thin layer of something that looks like flame maple over a plain piece of maple

  • i meant "3D" lol

  • and veneer damn spellin mistakes!

  • it may be a veneer, but it has the optical illusion of depth as flame maple does. looks awesome. i'll do a video of mine sometime

  • kewl

  • Nice man.

  • how much was ur guitar im tempted to get 1 is it worth it

  • i think epiphones are only worth around 500-800 for les pauls. Not worth it. If you want a real guitar make sure you get the origional Gibson Les Paul or some variation of it. Epiphone is just lower quality...

  • Don't listen to him, it's worth it cause a Gibson LP is too expensive and these don't sound too bad. They sound awesome actually XD Mine was a standard pain top and it was only $400-500. You can get an epiphone les paul 100 and it will cost only $300

  • It is DEFINITELY worth it to spend four or five hundred on an Epi LP Standard. I own one and it is the best sounding guitar I've ever owned. Sounds basically like a Gibson and WAY less expensive.

  • hi there! does anyone knows what this guy using as his accompaniment? Pls...many thanks!

  • It's a backing track downloaded from Guitar Center's "King of the Blues" site. They have (or used to have) 20-some mp3s there for download. Just checked, and it looks like they may have pulled them, but browse around their site and see what you find. -Mike
