It's also true that there is discrimination among the police and prosecution. The 2nd most important factor in determining how harsh a sentence someone will receive statistically speaking is their race. African Americans are sentenced more harshly.

They gently asked me to get out my vehicle asked if I had any weapons or drugs in my car, they searched me, they searched my car, just to let me know that they wanted to make sure I'm not a criminal... It's true that African Americans disproportionately offend but it is also true that overall Whites commit the majority of crime. It's also true that there is discrimination among the police and prosecution. The 2nd most important factor in determining how harsh a sentence someone will receive statistically speaking is their race. African Americans are sentenced more harshly.

I got pulled over just last Saturday night, the first cop called for back up, two other guys showed up. They gently asked me to get out my vehicle asked if I had any weapons or drugs in my car, they searched me, they searched my car, just to let me know that they wanted to make sure I'm not a criminal... I wonder if they do that to every single person they stop.

Me and my buddy were driving home one day when we got pulled over, my buddy wasn't wearing a seatbelt, which is a ticket worthy offence in oklahoma, my buddy hands over his I.D. and insurance and is kinda nervous while doing so because he didnt want to get in trouble. We got pulled out of the car, searched for drugs, the Sergent shows up, and a drug dog, they then search his car... My problem... We're both white, they were doing their jobs!

think of it on the source of the matter. the law, at least in a good country like America built by Christian Founders, is meant to protect + help the citizen. so, if cops are doing job 2 do that, at least their following a law that's good. otherwise, no one would want to live here in America. i'd be the first one out infact!

I'm "white" and have had the same thing happen, in a very liberal W Coast city, predominantly white. Was stopped, told to present ID and had the cop's gun drawn on me. I got no sympathy for this guy, who I suspect exists only in the Da Young Turk's imagination. Of course, the other thing about this bit of reporting that bothers me is the unstated notion that it's only white cops who profile. TYT - where it's always amateur hour...

@amkd215 so police responded to 2 men breaking into a house in an upscale cambridge neighborhood. The responding officer asked Gates for ID, which he refused to show. He then purposely refused to cooperate with the officer and was later arrested. Come to find out, the white officer Gates tried to make an example of was an inner city hero who worked with underprivaledged minorites! Woops! Better pick a battle with someone else! Gates picked a model policeman to make look racist!

@TheRocknRollZebra i was wondering how much time is wasted on cops not being perceptive enough, and not trained well enough by our country on cases like these. obviously, they should make the standards higher and tougher for being a cop... instead of wasting money and time for rather minor cases to targeting more serious crimes that need more investigation... that's my two cents.

well people eyes completely changed and I sure did get pulled over , held for almost 40 minutes while the cop looked for the one tool he never uses ( the tool that measures the percentage of the tint of the window)

Call me crazy, but I'd rather refrain from restricting basic freedoms than achieve temporary safety. What kind of coward nation are we by thinking this is acceptable? Muslims overseas are probably laughing at us saying "Where's your equality and freedom now?!"
