  • Thank you.

  • Hello,

To activate our account, we must write our first article & get it approved by examiner.com. Is there a specific topic that we have to write about or are we free to choose any topics? I would definitely appreciate your help.

  • @Goodwillwin1 I think you can write about whatever is related to your channel. For example, for my national Internet Deals channel, I see that it falls under the gadgets & tech subcategory, so I try to stay within that topic. If you have a local channel, they give you the instructions on how to write the what, when, where, who and why stuff. Like in my Cleveland Pop Culture channel that's local, I try to stay focused on Cleveland-area pop culture happenings. Let me know how it goes

  • @PAULANEALMOONEY15 if they search you on google you make 50$ and if they just apply from you you make 5$? is that correct?

  • @MDefsquad9 Hi -- it used to be I made $5 for each application from Examiner.com's Commission Junction affiliate program, but that is now defunct.

However, Examiner.com has their own affiliate links now -- and for everyone who applies and is accepted, I receive $50 for each of those folks -- but not everyone who applies is accepted. I even know a guy who was a child star who applied but got rejected, so give them your best work as examples, and if you have online work that's popular, that helps

  • How many articles do we have to write/day? Is it required?

  • @Goodwillwin1 Examiner gives you all that info -- I don't know it off hand. I tend to write a lot of articles, but there is some kind of minimum -- not daily, but if you look in their instructions you'll find it.

  • Not bad .. thank you so much for the information.

  • How do you get paid? Is it $3/view?

  • @Goodwillwin1 It averages about $7 per 1,000 pageviews -- so you need a lot of views to make good money.

Plus, they pay us through PayPal every month, as long as we've made enough to meet some minimum. I don't know what the minimum is because I always make over the minimum. It's been harder to get hits since I made this video, but last month I still made around $770 or so from Examiner.com.

You have to be ready to create a lot of good content and SEO it and try try try.

  • Alright I'll look into those! Thanks so much for taking the time to explain. I appreciate the advice and recommendations.

  • Google 'How I still made more than $1,000 writing for Examiner.com in December 2011' to find my article with a lot of helpful tips on my paulanealmooney site, plus read the article linked to on the top called "How I Make Money Online Writing From Home" because I think they can both help you.

Especially if you've read my tips about writing on current topics -- and getting a national channel on Examiner (if you don't have one already) and how I make affiliate sales as well in my Internet Deals.

  • so for the past 3 months i've made around $20 per month give or take... I really am doing everything i can to get page views... i retweet my articles and so do others, always submit the url to bing, digg (which hasn't helped), stumbleupon (which i am now banned from for "spamming") and i even made a blog on wordpress which has not helped either... what am i doing wrong?

  • @BarbieBiitch420 Google 'How I still made more than $1,000 writing for Examiner.com in December 2011' to find my article with a lot of helpful tips on my paulanealmooney site, plus read the article linked to on the top called "How I Make Money Online Writing From Home" because I think they can both help you.

  • @BarbieBiitch420 It can be a grind, but how many articles did you write each day? What were they about? Do you have a national channel or local channel?

  • @PAULANEALMOONEY15 I am a local examiner (Toronto Style Examiner). I post 2-3 a week. The days I don't post I receive about 20-40 views. My articles are always in the 200-500 word range. I work really hard and always spend time making collages, but I get discouraged at times when I see how much I really could be making here.

  • @BarbieBiitch420 Yes, I understand how discouraging it can be trying to get views. If you go through my Examiner channels, you'll see where I write 2 to 3 articles per day some days in order to get views.

Plus, if you read the piece about how I add to the income with affiliate sales, that will give you more ideas. I think if you tie in your pieces with current celebrity style happenings and topics that are hot in the news, that make help. But it's a hustle -- and since...

  • @PAULANEALMOONEY15 ...Google Panda's update happened, it does take more work to get views than it did when I first made this video. Remember, I've worked for Examiner since 2009, and I have a lot of articles still out there that get views -- but for example, I recently just wrote about President Obama singing Al Green's song and that got several hundred views per day.

And then if you look at my Internet Deals channel, you can see how my Amazon deals pieces got views, but...

  • @PAULANEALMOONEY15 ...I make more off the affiliate links from the Amazon Associates program from that than the pageviews I got there.

It seems like since you write about style, you could make additional money by including referral links to places that sell clothes. For example, on my regular paulanealmooney website, I wrote about Not Your Daughter's Jeans and linked to Amazon with my associates links, and when people buy jeans through the links, I make money. Also, try...

  • @PAULANEALMOONEY15 ...a place called postloop if you are trying to make money faster online. I just joined that place and I wrote my first 10 posts (comments) and now they should approve me soon. They pay people to leave comments that are well-written around various blog and forums, and it seems like it takes a lot of writing from what I'm reading. But the good part is that when you get 100 points or whatever, you can cash out your $5 and get paid via paypal like in 24 hours

  • @PAULANEALMOONEY15 So I'm trying that to see how it works so I can add up a lot of money and then get it paid out soon so I don't have to wait for all the other places where I get paid online.

Again, hope all that helps you!

  • Hey, is it a good idea to submit my examiner URL to google?

  • @BarbieBiitch420 Yes, it can't hurt. And it's generally a good idea to link to it naturally if you write for other places. For example, I write for Yahoo! Contributor's Network, so I will mention my Examiner piece there sometimes. Or link to them from my blogs.

You can also link to your Examiner pieces on Digg, Reddit, Facebook and places like that -- as long as you're not going too crazy spamming people with links. :-)

  • it is soo frustrating as a new examiner! I have posted 4 articles and have made a total of ... $2.90... how can I get more traffic? I plan to post about 2-3 articles a week! I know examiner pays per page visit/view... but is it also Facebook likes, retweets, and subscriptions?? Thanks for your help!!!

  • @BarbieBiitch420 Hey Barbie - Yes, I know it can be frustrating with Examiner. Some days I've written 10 articles and maybe received 1,000 views total, if even that on them all. Before Google's Panda update earlier this year, it was easier to get views on Examiner, but it is still possible to get views now.

First off, visit paulamooney.blogspot.com and click "Examiner.com traffic-getting tips" on the right.

That'll help teach about SEO and how to find good, trending topics that help.

  • hey how do you view how many hits your articles have gotten?

  • @BarbieBiitch420 Examiner lets you put Google Analytics code or your Google Analytics ID in your Examiner account so you can see what articles are getting how many hits. If you are an Examiner writer, they give you all the details on how to do that inside their Examiner site.

  • @PAULANEALMOONEY15 Yes I'm a Toronto Style Examiner... do I need to create a gmail account?

  • @BarbieBiitch420 If you Google the words "Google Analytics" it will tell you what you need. It's been so long since I set mine up -- but I know they'll tell you.

  • how do you upload a youtube vid to an article on examiner?? mine will not play, only the youtube link shows up

  • @BarbieBiitch420 You need to grab the "embed" code that Youtube gives you when you click the share button -- don't just grab the link, but copy and paste all the embed code that Youtube gives you and paste that into the Examiner portion where you can add videos to your article, then it will embed the video -- as long as it's a video on Youtube that provides the embed code and doesn't say "embedding disabled by request" message after you hit share.
