I wonder if Steve has been shown this?- what a star- and at 9!!! I bet Dad is a fan- as someones coach him in Steve style.Brilliant! I hope James goes on to play for a living.
my nephew was born this morning and called James MacPherson, so I googled the name and arrived here. What a talent. Good to know the wee lad's in such talented company!

Simply an amazing rendition of one of Hackett's coolest songs! This is spectacular playing for a young man of his age. Many of us adults could practice hours every day and still could not do as well. What a gift, and mom and dad must be so proud. I know that I would be!
wow!!!!!!!!!!! GOD BLESS YOU, JAMES, I'M A HUGE HACKETT FAN; DO YOU HAVE ALL HIS ALBUMS? HE HAS PUT OUT A LOT OF THEM!! HAVE YOU SEEN "TWIGHLIGHT ALEHOUSE" BY GENESIS? CHECK IT OUT!ALSO, CHECK OUT CAMEL'S "ICE" IF YOU CAN PLAY THAT SOLO BY ANDY LATIMER, YOU CAN PLAY ANYTHING!!! ALSO, CHECK OUT SHADOWFAX'S"A SONG FOR MY BROTHER" GREAT GUITAR SOLOING ON THAT SONG ! THANKS!; WHAT A GOD GIVEN TALENT!!
Wow! How proud you must be, Ian. My boys love this so much one of them has recorded it onto his DSi. Penny told me about your talented son so I decided to check him out, glad I did, hope life is good for you, have fun at Chris's 50th party, I can't be there I'm sorry to say, take care. Sal (Finch) (Brooke)
I think it is so cool that a kid this age is into Hackett let alone can play so well. When I talk about Steve Hackett people are like"who the hell is that"? Music's best kept secret.
This is amazing, wonderful, beautiful, extraordinary, marvelous, accurate, deep, simply the best cover I've ever heard, Steve you must see this and be proud of it, this proves that you were right leaving Genesis because of what you really believe in, to compose and play good music, trascendent for the rest of the world, this is your legacy, and a mighty one, James, you are a living legend NOW !
I wish i was that cool when i was 9. My first public performance was an acoustic led zeppelin medley, how lame. I should have done Marigold! when you're on top of the world, don't forget to thank Steve. he's my most inspirational guitarist as well and he deserves a lot more credit than he gets. well done.
This guitarist is 9 years old? He is definitely a child prodigy. And thank god playing some classy music by the great Steve Hackett, instead of rap or some other meaningless stuff. Has Steve heard you, Ian?
You're amazing James. I'm full of admiration for you. Keep at it, you'll be a guitar god by the time you're 15. You just played one of my favourite Hackett pieces brilliantly.
I am a fan of Steve Hackett and this is well done. I would like to know what effects pedal you are using in this video. Once again a great job on that song.
WOW! I'm impressed. I didn't know that there were 9 year-olds out there who have heard Steve Hackett's music, let alone could play it - that is cool. That song is almost as old as I am, LOL.
Steve Hackett is one of my all time fav guitarists. You really, really do him an honour. Good luck in the future, you will have it all in no time, just don't stop ever!
It s good to hear a young boy playing this song from such a magnificient artist as S. Hackett but, by the other side, I didn't like the sound. Anyway, nice playing.
More power to your plectrum, James. This is one of my favourite Hackett pieces, and a potential minefield, but you carried it off brilliantly. Great to see young talent being influenced by one of the best in the business.
Tehe, thats my big brother!:D
