I must admit I saw this on TOTP2 in the 90s when I was a kid and I wasn't at all impressed by Poly Styrene's singing. Now I see it again and think she was one of a kind. It's sad to learn she died recently. You can hear their music's influence on a lot of this so-called cutting edge indie stuff now. Particularly "Oh Bondage Up Yours" on groups like Le Tigre.

Frankie Howerd's death was the last time I was this upset about someone I didn't know passing. I delivered Poly's mail a few times and would sometimes see her in the local shops when I lived in SE22, but always felt it would be a bit stupid to do the I've got all your records thing, besides, she was gorgeous so I was kind of embarrassed. But still, it felt like she was one of "ours" whatever that means. This really sucks more than anything has sucked for a while.
